  1. After forcing myself to stay up way past my normal bedtime last night, at first I was a little dismayed about the lackluster "reveal". However, after checking out the website, I can honestly say this is the first year since 2006 that I'm actually giddy with excitement about the event. The overall concept for this year is something different, Uni seems to be trying to mix things up and move away from the old school playbook the event has always followed. The "street experience"...if this ends up being as immersive and interactive as I'm hoping, it will elevate the scarezone concept to something completely new. And for the first time in a very long time, I'm actually excited about ALL the houses. So we don't have a fancy, smancy website. There is no icon. Who cares? I take the event for what it is at face value, a great way to celebrate haunt season and do it in a way that many people only wish they could.
  2. We could up it to 4pm, but since this isn't a "you must RSVP" kinda situation, I just figured we stick with the old time we always used...gives everyone the chance to swing by and say "hi" if nothing else...
  3. It's alright, I'll forgive you It wasn't that it was horrendous, but I think the execution and overall atmosphere probably could have been improved to a certain extent. Great minds think alike! Just like you said, their version of "change" and "different" this year might just not be adding the zone names to the park map. I have high hopes that the new moniker of "street experiences" will be just that, an experience in itself...moreso than just the typical sz we are so used to seeing year after year. That's our favorite past time at the event, just sitting and watching everyone else get the shit scared out them...but I'm really intrigued by this new concept this year. All you can do is go in with an open mind and take it for what it is
  4. I have to agree with you about the streets last year, probably one of the less impressive over the past 5 years. (Nightmaze...WTF was that all about?) This is my 22nd year, I've had the chance to see the event evolve from a more or less big Halloween party to one of the biggest haunt events in the country. Sure there have been houses and zones that I wasn't overly impressed with, but as the saying goes you can't please everyone all the time. That being said, that is where change is a really good thing...if the streets stuck to their old calculated ways, I have no doubt it would be great, but amping things up in the ways that they are takes the concept to a new level. Again, I love the fact they changed it "street experiences"...just feels more inclusive and interactive to me. But with change comes growth, perhaps you will be surprised this year and come to find change as a good thing?
  5. This is the one street experience I am looking the most forward to...the only thing that would make it better is if we had the opportunity to hit Shane or Carl in the head with a shovel. I'd pay extra for that.
  6. I'm very excited to see how Cinespec plays into the street experience concept. Do not mention the word "change" to some HHN fans, you'd think someone had just peed in their Cheerios when everything isn't the same, every single year. Then if Uni doesn't try anything new, these same people usually complain how creative isn't "thinking out of the box" or trying anything different. I've come to determine that it's pretty much a no-win situation. For me change at HHN = a good thing Who wants to attend the same freaking event, year after year? It'd be like "Groundhog Day" Halloween style...
  7. I am completely and totally down with this concept. The event is going to evolve folks, whether anyone likes it or not. The old traditional scarezones, yeap, we've seen those for what, the past 20 years? Moving the concept to something different like this switches things up...and in my book, change is ALWAYS a good thing. I like the idea of having the streets being labeled as "experiences" instead of scarezones, makes it seem a bit more interactive and involved than the usual scarezone we are all used to.

    Gothic

I'm with you on this one....from the looks of it, this house is going to offer up some seriously detailed sets. Who needs a long, drawn out, superfluous name for it, when in the end it will obviously speak for itself?

    Dead End

Hell House = incredibly creepy and one of my favorite Matheson stories. Add the doll factor in and the creep -o-meter for this house goes through the roof in a major way. Taking us back to Carey, Ohio makes this one a winner already in my book.
  10. 2012 Horror Night Nightmares Opening Night Get Together WHEN: 4:00pm, Friday, September 21st WHERE: Bob Marley: A Tribute to Freedom @ CityWalk WHO: Anyone who wants to come WHY: Because we can, that's why This get together is about as casual as they come, so whether you want to finally meet some of your fellow Nightmares face to face and chat it up, want to hang out pre-event for drinks and dinner, just stop by, say "hi" and leave, or stalk us all without even introducing yourself (although that is just plain creepy)...everyone is welcome! Come catch up with old friends, meet new ones, and celebrate the start of haunt season! Here is a direct link for more information on Bob's, the location, menu, etc.: http://www.universal...te-Freedom.aspx (I'm sorry to report that they do not serve #hotdog) Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I will not be able to attend this event...go figure. However, I want everyone to have a drink in my honor and take some pictures to let me know that a good time was had by all!
  11. I think combined with #smallclowncar it will make an exceptionally scary house...
  12. That's what I'm thinking... It's hysterical to me that everyone is getting their panties in a twist over a simple word being tweeted...if the guy would've tweeted #hotdog...would everyone think the house was about hotdogs or the name of it was such? Come on gang, in a few short hours the answers will be revealed....no need to freak out over word. And on that note...#smallclowncar
  13. Newest still clip from one of the commericals uploaded to Facebook....says they will soon reveal the creatures leading the chase....
  14. I have to agree with you there...although I'm not sure he'd be as terrifying as completely annoying.
  15. Now this, THIS is speculation I can get on board with! Sweet 16 was easily my favorite year out of the past 6...Darkness would be the perfect icon to bring together all the "hoardes" and various kinds of creatures/beings that we are rumored to be seeing. If he "comes home" perhaps we'll be seeing other characters (no icons please) come home as well. Darkness embodies all that is terrifying and fear related...I'm liking the way you are thinking sweetie! (Even if it is just wishful thinking/speculation, I still love the idea!)
  16. That sounds like a challenge sir. I accept! (Will def have to try that next time around...thanks!)
  17. I agree completely, I really do think that whatever the end result is it will be totally opposite of what everyone is leaning towards. Although I too love the fact that we've taken these small clues and twisted them into Michael Myers and the four old icons...talk about grasping for straws huh? LOL The previous icons need to stay retired, they've had their time and maybe decades down the road it would be nice to revisit their story lines, if we don't hear from any of them for many years to come that'll make me a happy camper.
  18. I'm glad it's not just me who was thinking this....
  19. So nice to see you posting again!!! Hope you and Lauren are doing good and that we run into you all again this year! (Congrats on graduation too!) Very intersting with the buried alive video...like you said, hard to say what it could be use for...guess we'll find out in due time. Thanks for sharing though, solidifies the digging/buried clues in the fact that someone was buried alive and had to dig their way out...if nothing else.
  20. Dorothy with a beard. Now THAT is scary.
  21. Or if we're lucky, pick people we would like to personally bury alive...now THAT would be worth paying extra for...
  22. That doesn't hurt my feelings at all. A year without an icon is just as good as a year with one. Actually, without one I think it allows the creative minds at Uni to go in different directions and not feel that they are boxed into focusing on certain concepts surrounding the icon and their backstory.
  23. O.k I hate to beat a dead horse and all, but if the entire point of speculation was to weed out the fact from fiction, this thread would be completely and utterly pointless. Since no one can absolutely, positively verify that the information they have posted this far is precisely what we will be seeing, doesn't that negate every single clue given to us up to now? I mean if we're trying to weed out the truth from fantasy, all the speculation and clues on this page could be labeled as guesstimates since no one can give up the ghost so to speak in regards to exactly what is spot on. Whoever this source is is just helping amplify the fun of guesstimating and speculating. Even if the info they are providing is pointless in the end, who really cares? It's all in good fun. And isn't the point of the event for everyone to get excited? Even if this is someone just having fun, it's not hurting anyone. Heck if anything, I think it's amped up people wondering exactly what to expect for this year. Visiting this site is a way to pass the time, so it really shouldn't make a hill of beans as to whether any of the info provided is spot on or not. I mean come on, you of all people know how things work with this event. I haven't read a single one of these new clues, but others are having fun with it...what the heck, let them enjoy it regardless of what the outcome is.
  24. I'd love to, but in my old age, that might be difficult without caffiene or booze Perhaps that means I should just start drinking earlier than usual next Wednesday.
  25. My thoughts exactly. As a movie, it sucked. Royally. But as a house, it has so much more potential... That was the only two elements of the movie that even remotely creeped me out. If they don't figure out a way to integrate those into the house, it'll be a shame.
