  1. Well to me; it wasn't bad. I enjoyed the scenes and whatnot. Definitely better than "I love THIS movie and THIS movie only. Even though the fanbase hates it I like it so I'm doing it and you can't stop me" <-- That would be devastatingly too much creative control with self interest without the patrons in mind. Granted I haven't seen anything past the original though I did get to meet Robert Englund before at another theme parks horror event years past. Now that I think about it; it would be cool to bring in big names in the horror industry for meet & greets.
  2. The movie is successful amongst my co-workers but they are pretty niche; that's what it is... A niche kind of movie. But most agree it's mostly eye candy and the plot lacks and is predictable. I too never expected it to come next year as well. I'm starting to feel like people thinks that Orlando is supposed to get Hollywoods Hand Me Downs. Just because Hollywood does it one year doesn't for sure mean Orlando will do it the following year. Movie isn't a headliner. But thinking on it; there isn't much recent good horror releases lately. At least nothing that really packs a punch.
  3. God forbid anyone dance to Smells like Teen Spirit. It wasn't a pop version of it. Lets lock the song up so no one can listen to it again unless they get all depressed and cry. It's a good song, dance numbers were on point. Sorry but I don't get all sad and depressed about Kurt Cobain when I hear the song or any Nirvana song. And to say this type of "whory" performance was the type of thing Kurt killed himself over is a bit of an over exaggerated stretch............................... I think you lost all credibility of not being overly sensitive with that line. That's a bit over the top thing to say in response to a dance number.
  4. Thanks! Next time I get the chance I'll have to try it out. I'm going to try to aim for the last night of the run since it's the only 1am close left unless they extend it. I don't like staying out all night and the last time I went on a 1AM the park was dead by 12. I expect the last night to be busy but I'm not really worried about house waits at this point. If I see it, I see it; if I don't, I don't. I really hope it's not going to be too bad though.
  5. A little off topic but a food junkie wants to know. Has anyone tried the carnival themed food that they have for the event? I've seen people walk by me with potato on a stick and all sorts of fair foods. Are they any good or are they just so-so?
  6. Video and audio recording alike. After paying all that money; I don't think anyone wants to get kicked out. More pictures too. First is in FvJ.. Second is in Asylum,
  7. New Show (Jacks), Complaints, Venue about to be possibly demolished for a new ride. Rocky was stuck between a rock and a hard place. They do Rocky at Citywalk often so it's probably not a major loss to them to pull it from the park when you still have an opportunity to see it right outside the gates if the timing is right. (in fact there's showing this weekend and next) Also with that new Fast and Furious ride announcement Beetlejuice and the show venue is on it's last leg. I think it's good for the actors of the show that has been there to be able to continue to perform during the daytime since their days are numbered. Disaster was already closed before the event began. Though thinking about it; we probably will not get another Jack show next year unless they pull him to be an icon...again.. And we won't have the beetlejuice venue. All that will be left is presumably Bill and Ted. I wonder how that'll work out since I imagine all of the show budget and attention will be placed on them. If they return, which I do hope so because I still loved the show this year.
  8. I don't think Hogwarts Express is a round trip only deal. I'm 99.99% sure it just runs until Islands closes at either 7 or 8.
  9. Jack may not always be in the form of a person/actor. Just keep that in mind.
  10. I saw someone firsthand who thought it was funny to yell in an actors ear as to "frighten them" I think there's even a video of the same situation but with an icons scareactor somewhere where someone thought it was funny to try to make the actor "jump". Sure they might get startled; anyone who gets someone yelling in their ear would be. However as a guest; you pay to be scared. Trying to "scare" the actors just makes you look like a grade A jerk and then some. On an unrelated note.... HHN Hollywood has been extended.... Now to wait and see if Orlando follows suit.
  11. I managed to do the dual UTH tour thanks to Cooger and Dark. I have't been in any of the houses at night at the time I did the UTH tour but I have since gone back and done 3 of them. This review was originally posted in the UTH picture thread w/pictures but I have decided to remove it because I want to add onto it. I want to add more to the tour review and put the review for the houses I've gone through. The 3 houses I did are Purge, Insidious, and Body Collectors. We saw FVJ, Body Collectors, and Jack Presents in the AM. Then did Asylum, TWD, and Insidious in the PM. I kind of wish they were reversed. The later 3 houses were really stuffy and hot and the first 3 were ice cold in the morning. Freddy Vs. Jason Tour: FVJ's set blew my mind. The boiler room mirror effect part of the maze blew my mind. Just walking around it with lights on was enough for me to question if I was going in the right direction. Apparently our tour guide had once gotten lost in that part of the maze during training. They reached a dead end which I think was explained to be a "boo hole" and confused him but yeah. The boiler room was my favorite part of the house. The details are stunning though. I love walking through the house facade midway through the maze. It felt like an appropriate balance between both IP's though to me I think Freddy had more detail and "screen time" than Jason. There's an underwater scene and I loved it. There's a canoe above which a lot of people in my tour missed so in the underwater scene; look up. Body Collectors: Recollections Tour: The Facade was such a great photo op. It's so beautiful, the inside decorations are beautiful. Everything was just so gorgeous and very detailed. I really don't have much to say besides that unfortunately as far as tour goes. Body Collectors House Review: The snow effect wasn't running. I was told there was snow and I didn't get to see it, not on the tour or during my run through the house which actually really made me disappointed. The house was still beautiful. Not very much on scares but one good thing is I only remember seeing one house op through the whole run for some reason so they were really out of the way and didn't take from the house. The rotunda-like room got me good. I did not like the idea of an actor above me, not at all. The headless actor to the left I already knew about; they slowly stood up and sat down so it was ineffective. Also the padded room; I knew the effect from the tour and saw the room coming but thankfully it still got me regardless so that was good. Jack Presents- 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem Tour: Though I'm not fluent in HHN history, just the variety was still cool. My favorite was probably the ship room. I loved the concept of the slanted leveled pathway. I loved the puppet bear in grandmas house. I loved Cindy's coffin. I pretty much loved everything in this house. Most of all I have a huge crush on Jack so being surrounded by him is like a girls dream. I really wish there are a few effects I could see in this house in action. I likely will not be going back before the end of the run though. It's getting really busy I hear. Asylum in Wonderland 3D tour: Complete with 3D glasses. I managed to find one of the little HHN coins on a table inside of Asylum. If you find a coin in the houses someone is intentionally leaving them behind, you can take them they aren't glued or nailed down. Just don't intentionally go ripping off set pieces. lol. I really wanted to see the light room in action. Apparently there's 2 triggers you can get. Either A the colorful lights turn off and you get strobed or B the lights turn off and you get blacked out. I'd love to experience a blackout after being disoriented, standing in total darkness. This house is heavily themed after Alice: Madness Returns. You cannot and will not convince me otherwise. I'm a huge fan of the game and I can tell from a mile away whoever designed this house has played that game. For that; the "new" concept isn't that original. It's a great concept and I love the spin on the traditional alice but to me it felt too much like McGee's alice. We got a rundown on why our version of 3D houses is different than Hollywoods. Honestly I kind of like the color on black approach but to each their own. The Walking Dead Tour: The only house I was disappointed in. I don't have much of a hate for TWD. Never been in any of the previous houses, never watched the show. I don't care about it and never will most likely. I understand the hate towards it because of the re-use through the years but I'm personally indifferent to it. However I loved every house except this one so that says something. I think at that point I would've rather seen purge and look at all of the rushed changes of added blackness and graffiti than to look at pretty much nothing but shipping crates. The set just was unappealing to me. The water scene could have been better. It was hard to see the second pool in the back, I imagine it be almost unnoticeable going through normally while getting scared because it's behind you and not in the direction you're going, Looking around the pools were poorly done. They build a waist high wall of props to divide you from the pool, and then there's just a couple feet of nothing in-between the pool and the prop wall divider. Some people I hear didn't even notice there was water there. It could've been better executed maybe via more props surrounding the tub or level it more so you can see it better. The prop wall was waist high, the tub is waist high, at that point you could've probably had an actor stand in darkness and do the laser effect that mimics water waves. Purge House Review: I know purge isn't on the tour but it's in the same area location wise. Plus it's smart to do Purge and then do Insidious which is what we did. I do not like the emergency sirens in that deep tone. I can't stand it they terrify me so already before we even got to the front of the house getting that emergency broadcasting system suspended alert raised hairs. That siren creeps me out. There was no actor out front in my memory but I also was really focused on the bus so I'm taking my memory with a grain of salt. This house was the first house I went in for the entire HHN25 run. It's probably my favorite in terms of "did you get scared?" Answer: "yes". The other two houses didn't come close to the amount of times this house made me jump. I really actually want to see a real purge house. I know the sets were "meh" But the actors killed it. I was with a group and it seemed like every gun blast hit me. Every. One. I felt alone in this house like I was the only one who was being targeted despite holding onto the person in front of and behind me. I jumped enough to be embarrassed. Sudden movements and air blasts scare me. This house got me good so for that I'm thankful. Insidious legit creeped me out a few times during the day. First being the elevator room/hall. Before the tour went down that hall just looking down it into darkness was eerie. Then the tour guide shined a light into a scrim to expose a demon unexpectedly and being next to it made me jump a little. Of course the room where they just had dummies sitting with drapes over them was spooky too. You probably could not pay me to go through this house in darkness with effects running. Insidious House Review: This house was not as strong as it was on the tour unfortunately. I really got creeped out by looking down the empty elevator room into darkness. (I know the house ops would probably have a heart attack if 10 feet of space was uninhibited by the congo line) But that hallway was really super creepy without anyone in it; knowing that you had to go down it without knowing what to expect at the end or on either sides. The line of people ruined how scared I was of the hallway during my tour. There were also effects the guide pointed out on the tour that I couldn't see during the night and completely missed despite me knowing that they were there. I really wasn't all that interested in the black strobed rooms with the drawings. Neither in the daytime or at night. The room with the dummies with drapes was ineffective at night as well and I thought it'd be more creepy because one or two would be real and I wouldn't know which. My actor/actress just quietly & slowly stood up and sat right back down. The movements weren't sudden or anything to make me jump and I jump easily. ------------------------------------------- Scarezones: My two favorites are Psychoscareapy and Evils Roots. Evils roots with the darkness, fog, traditional halloween decor as well as the tightness of the space really brings the zone to a new level. I've gotten a couple good scares through that zone. Psychoscareapy is a really fun zone. Don't rush through this zone. There's a lot going on and it takes going at a different pace to really appreciate the diversity of this zone. I also walked through clowns once. It wasn't scary; I love clowns. But this zone was sooooo funny I about pee'd myself watching a clown just terrify the tarnation out of someone else. I really wish I could explain what went down but it was just nonsensical madness and it worked. It was hilarious not scary but the girl ran anyways.

    Insidious

This house creeped me out more so on the tour than it did while it was living and breathing. I think because a lot of things that I noticed while on the tour I couldn't see going through the house and missed. The scariest part of the house on tour was being the first person to look down the empty dark elevator hallway (with doors on either side and toilets etc). Looking down that empty dark hallway was hair raising, you almost couldn't see the end. The actors were meh. They didn't really jump out much. The one room where there's sheets over dummies and one hiding actor (or I only saw one live actor) They just stood up and sat back down very slowly and quietly. Similar to standing up for roll call in school. I would've liked it to be more quick and sudden. I was right by it and it did nothing for me and I jump easily too.
  13. I honestly think Jacks show is funny just because it speaks to us in all of our complaints about the event. It very subtlety bashes the event or at least what has become of it. We all share the same thoughts for the most part so we "get" it. Everyone here may not get pop culture. But everyone here does get the event. I'm not a horror fanatic. I like that Bill and Ted offers something different for me to enjoy. However it's almost so watered down that they can just take out fear factor and run Bill and Ted 365/year. Keep the clothes on the actors and it's a pretty done deal really. I'm the target audience for the show so I understood all of the references easily and I really really enjoyed the show yet I understand how someone cannot. A lot of references I knew many people wouldn't get from the minute I heard them. Basically this show was just a tumblr feed.. You had to be in with the fandom to get most of it OR you had to be an Orlando local. This limits the target audience significantly when it comes to understanding the references.

    The Purge

Purge was the best house I went in for scares. Oddly enough outside of HNN I hear a lot of positive feedback from this house. Apparently TWD also gets positive feedback so I'll just take that with a grain of salt. This house was on point with the scares. I felt like everyone was targeting me and me only in the mist of my group. It was the first house I went through for the entire run and I was not disappointed to say the least. Though, the gun props are honestly what make it terrifying for me. The set was Eh, but they tried. To me it was still better than TWDs set which I hate with a passion for some reason.
  15. Purge was the best house I went in scare wise. It seemed like every Actor was out to get me in that house. Which is the point so I have to give credit where credit is due. A house can have the greatest set ever but it's up to the actors make the house complete. It still got a few points for the set because they tried. Still better than TWDs set IMHO.
  16. They probably treat B&T with white gloves because they already lost it in Hollywood and don't want to lose it in Orlando. I would imagine the insane amount of pressure placed on the writer and director to not offend anyone as to lose the last Bill and Ted show either coast has. Also they decided to cut Rocky Horror and had the Bayou fiasco last year with things being "too risqué" "too gory" by oversensitive people who think this is like Not So Scary and Spooktacular which are other local parks halloween events. It's obvious they are still treading lightly as a whole to not have to pull anything from the event for being "too much" in any form.
  17. Houses with short wait times are great to have. I've seen Run have a 5-10min wait the majority of the night on a weekend. (I already know most fans don't feel this house well). But shifting to a "I had to fly down here and spend thousands of dollars to come to this event" perspective. I would probably really appreciate any house with a short wait regardless of if it delivered in scares or not. It gave me something to do that didn't take an hour. I hit up purge, insidious, and body collectors all together in under an hour before. Doesn't mean they aren't popular because they certainly are. I overhear a lot of positive feedback from the purge. Not everyone knows the scream fiasco, if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have known or even noticed it. I hear a lot of great things about how creepy insidious is and how beautiful body collectors is yet I still managed to do them all in under an hour without express because the timing was right.
  18. There really are not any GATs. Not even in run. I do wish people would stop trying to mess around with props intentionally as to not accidentally break them. The pulling of the rope is just a bungee rope. Doesn't do anything but it's pull-able. I think only one rope is designed like that. I messed around with it in the UTH tour. As for the bear I'm interested in trying it. Maybe I'll try to convince a few friends to go. I love the bear though, I couldn't stop petting the puppet on the tour. It's just so cute and fuzzy. Realistic looking even. I just hope the actors don't find it annoying.
  19. Not really a review but I went through 3 houses in about an hour recently. The house ops were pretty quiet. I only heard one mumble and I do mean mumble to keep moving. I saw a lot of them in Insidious standing in very obvious spots (right in front of an important effect that's at the end of a certain hallway..hehem....) and Purge they were also noticeable but in Body Collectors they were well hidden I don't remember seeing but maybe one. It was late so it's hard to tell if they got spoken to about pulling everyone out of the experience by their demands to keep moving or if they were too tired to care by that point. So maybe things will be getting better?
  20. Express is just a perk. You pay more on top of your park admission to wait in a shorter line. If you have 2 people, you'll have to buy two park passes and two express passes ( which is optional) if you wish to utilize the express pass feature. They will not let you through the gate with just an express pass without a park pass. Likewise they will not let you in the express line of a house with just a park pass only.
  21. One pass per person. If you show up with two people and only one pass they'll turn the second person away or suggest you both wait in the main line.
  22. You need to buy a ticket per person attending. HHN is a separately ticketed event, If you want to go to the park during the day to ride the rides and then go to HHN at night you have to buy each ticket. If you only want to go to HHN but don't wish to have access to the park until 6:00PM then you only have to buy the HHN ticket. Only buying a Universal Studios park ticket or owning an Annual Pass will not grant you access to the event at 6. You'll be kicked out of the park.
  23. As long as you have a ticket. Though if you leave the premises, you'll likely have to go through the TSA security metal detectors bag and body scan thing again. Which to me always had a long line. Going to your hotel during a short 8-9 hour event where houses are over an hours wait can a big waste of time IMHO to spend hours out of the night leaving and coming back, it's not like it's a 5 minute endeavor. But if you're going multiple nights then time doesn't matter as much I guess.
  24. Actors won't break character over something as trivial as someone finding a coin. I found one in Asylum on the UTH tour and asked if I could take it and the guide started talking about the history of the coins but no one knows who's leaving them behind but they are totally OK to take as they aren't part of the houses (if they were they'd be nailed or glued down).
