  1. I wasn't going to say anything, but if we're really going to bitch about the price increase... or event popularity, don't blame the IP's because believe it or not, they've always been a part of HHN Orlando since Fright Nights in 1991. While IP's might not have been shoved down your throat until you choked on it like TWD was last year, they've still been present at the event in some form. With the price increase.. which is getting a bit out of control (UNI just raised their regular ticket price this past saturday)... with the amount of money it costs to go, the thing you should be bitching about is how very little everyone's "oh so beloved" event offers. For an event this popular & its price, we should have so much that it DOES take more than one night to see it all. Its pretty sad when you see an event like Knott's Scary Farm in Cali going on its 40th year last year and offer more for less. While they might repeat houses, scarezones or shows... at least they offer more to alleviate the crowds. Last year they had 12 houses, 2 haunted rides, 9 shows, & 4 scarezones for the price of roughly like $60 The fact that HHN has 3 stadium seating theaters in the park, along with a smaller indoor theater (HMU), a larger indoor theater (T23D), a mini stage (kidzone), and the lagoon... we should seriously be seeing entertainment in all venues. Including something in the street like Death Drums for example. Then you've got the Rockit stage which of course doesnt get used because the viewing area is used for SS22 house queue. So that means one less stage that could be used. we have 8 houses (again), but we should seriously be seeing AT LEAST 5 shows (one of those being in the lagoon), then at least 5 themed scarezones, along with random roaming scareactors/characters. The last time we even had a shit ton of entertainment to go along with 8 houses was in 2007- we had 4 shows. 2008 decreased to 3 shows, 2009/2010/2011 down to 2 shows, 2012 gave us 3 shows when you count the unlisted lagoon show. This is pathetic for an event of HHN's size. The problem with them is that they like to make money, but refuse to spend it. Honestly, like i said, you should be bitching more about lack of content than "OMGZ THERE IZ SO MANY IPS!!!"... Universal can be a business all it wants, but its a bad business when they refuse to offer people more for their money to keep them happy.
  2. Emporer Palpatine's Hyperspace Hoopla

  3. ^i've done the cross-over from IOA a few times during 2008... i definitely prefer being IN the studios where the event actually is rather than in the other park. Also, the IOA cross-over deals with the metal detectors, so thats reason #666 why stay & scream is better.
  4. I'm still alive... just have some stuff going on at home right now. But yea, i'm still around... for the most part

  5. They have the stay & screem areas roped or barricaded off... they have people with wristbands.. you show them your HHN ticket, they give you a wristband & then you wait until they let you loose... Its not a huge pain in the ass like the front gate... its very reasonable. None of that hassle with the security. The park closes at 5pm, so make sure you're in there no later than 4:30-4:45pm. Mark, Jenn, Michele & a few others are more familiar with what time you gotta be in the areas (i only did it last year on halloween). I think they start corralling people into the holding areas around 4:45pm-ish.
  6. a bunch of random houses has never been an issue for the first several years of the event, and 23 years later... I don't see it being an issue. They can still have a theme without the houses being tied directly into it. Honestly, you can only do so many "Carnival of Carnages" & "Universal Palace Theaters" (the two years where IP's were dominate & tied directly into the theme) before the idea grows stale. Last year's theme wasn't TWD... that was marketing's "let me shove this down your throat & make you choke on it" way of selling the event (or the show.. still not sure which was really being marketed).. The theme of the event last year was "Horror Unearthed" with The Iniquitus & their Dark Legions... Unfortunately, as we all saw, marketing only wanted to promote one thing.. SH & AC were more of an "after thought" and then P&T didnt get any recognition at all... random houses are fine, but whatever the event's actual theme is... hopefully it wont get overshadowed by the IP's (or just one IP like TWD last year)... if there is an icon, hopefully the icon wont be pushed aside like The Usher was in 2009..
  7. Thanks for proving my point Sam.... Expect them to continue with the generic uncertain description for the next few months... Hopefully it will end up similar to what i speculated on the previous page...
  8. Because the Chesire Cat needs to have the ability to appear & disappear at random, the only way to really pull this off was with a projection. So you'd see his eyes/grin, but no body... then all of him.. We had the foul-mouthed Catepillar though (complete with water spray effect)... he was more than enough lol
  9. Regarding the website images (which as said before) are not any clue towards this years event.. Its really just to show off the event. Usually the one image we ALWAYS see on the site is 2006's "Harvest of the Souls" entrance, this year they gave us "Fractured Tales".. 6 from 2008 - The Skoolhouse, Path of the Wicked, Fractured Tales, Asylum in Wonderland & Central Park 1 from 2009 - Dracula 3 from 2011 - Winter's Night & Forsaken 2 from 2012 - Inquitus & traditionals 2008 was all about myths, tales, nightmares, urban legends, & fears... thats why the images from 2008's scarezones might make you think there is some hint towards children. As for this year, the only rumored house that would be directly linked to children would be La Llorona... Scary Tales won't be back, it had its time (3 times, 4 if you include 2008's ST3 scene cameo in 2010's Hallow'd Past) + a scarezone (Fractured Tales)... ^while you would think that... we did not get that "pretty empty" night we are used to last year on Halloween... Yes the crowds were insane last year, but over the past 6-7 years, we've never seen Halloween night with waittimes hitting an hour 30mins after the gates opened. so depending on the crowds this year will depend on whether or not we'll get the "pretty empty" we've grown accustomed to or if we'll have a repeat of last year's final night(mare)...
  10. Scarezone Spec Post 2.0 (only less detailed) Themed SZ locations: - Shrek Alley - Sting Alley - San Francisco - World Expo - Springfield/Krustyland (tentative) - Central Park Roaming Scareactors: - Hollywood Blvd - New York *Production Central isnt listed because its too much of a clusterf*ck around that area.
  11. - 8 houses - 6 themed scarezones - 2 roaming scareactor areas (NY & Hollywood) - 3 theater shows, lagoon show, mini stage entertainment, street entertainment (similar to Death Drums) - more food options well... you did ask.. lol Speculation regarding streets, I mentioned it before in a previous post... my speculation on that area points towards at least 5 themed scarezones in the back half & then roaming scareactor hordes in the front half of the park (if I need to elaborate again, i can)
  12. You should know better than to assume anything lol... even if SS21 is vacated, it'd be rather difficult for them to use as a house location due to its location behind Rockit. There needs to be a place for the queue & the exit. Theoretically, it could exit the same way Silent Hill did last year, (around the front of the Rockit stage), but there is still the issue of the queue. I don't see 4 SS houses this year, it'd be too much of a nightmare & clustf*ck. I'd say that Curious George, MIB extended queue, ET outdoor covered queue, possibly Shrek's queue, or 2 houses shoved into the parade building... i'd expect one of those 5 locations for an 8th house before a 4th soundstage... we really do need to have the houses spread out & a house in the back half of the park would be the best option
  13. Last night of Mardi Gras tonight!

  14. Peter... Doomsday was a flop. It was an awful movie & an awful house... also, movies cost less to go see in theaters 6 years ago than they do now.. it was basically swept under the rug. The house was basically created to generate dvd/bluray sales... nothing more. As for Dead Silence... it had a very very short theatrical run.. we're talking roughly only 20 days in quite a few theaters. So this was another way to promote the film for dvd sales. Unlike Doomsday however, Dead Silence actually made a kickass house with some decent scares (not to mention utilized the now infamous mirror floor gimmick).. As for The THING.... you misinterpreted what I said and once again failed to understand. The THING was announced prior to the event, just like Dead Silence was in 2007, BUT it was not a main feature when it came to the event itself. It was just there. Instead of promoting dvd/bluray, they had the house to promote the new movie. Still the same "oh they have this house based on this movie" just like the previous years... As for Mama... The only reason why they want to do a sequel (or "franchise" ) is because they're greedy. Not because its an unfinished story with a cliffhanger... (well there was a cliff). And for the record, their conversations regarding making a sequel(s) is still in early stages. Its not a definite thing, only being considered. Mama isnt like the big names of horror... As I've said before, if they use the movie.. it'll be treated just like the others (DS, Doomsday, THING)... not a marketing tool, just a house that is at the event only to interest people into buying the movie (box office sales don't matter, nor does the movie being good/bad).
  15. and there you go... you've just connected HAVOC 2.0 ....as well as AWIL... You're young Peter so of course you dont get why they wouldn't do Mama (god that sentence sounded less sexual in my head)... but see here's the thing, it really would NOT attract way more people. Nor would they advertise the house. It would most likely be treated the same way that Dead Silence (2007), Doomsday (2008), & The THING (2011) were handled... they weren't promoted like Freddy/Jason/Leatherface were in 2007 or SAW/Chucky/Wolfman in 2009... they were just there. Sure they had a little teaser for the movie on the website, but nothing more.. You tend to forget, we've done the whole urban legend thing before... so La Llorona should be fairly simple for them, not to mention it would allow for more creative freedom than a movie house would. As for AC last year, you forget that Murdy is an uber-fan of AC, so of course their AC houses are going to be better than what we got.
  16. ^Dammit! Heather beat me to it... although I totally forgot about the Home Alone angle
  17. ^this is because the clues are pulled out of someone's ass only when Dr Jimmy releases a new cryptic clue... you'd think people would catch on to this. It'd be a completely different story if there was a new "ifrit clue" BEFORE Dr Jimmy's cryptic clue... point being, the dolt creating these clues purposely waits for a new cryptic clue to be given, then hastily creates a clue of their own... So yes... don't overthink it.
  18. I have yet to hear anything about AC returning... from what I understand it would be some other Hollywood transplant. Mostly pointing to La Llorona... but i'd welcome AC back (to hell).. Of course, as i've mentioned before, I'd personally prefer a pre-hiatus house rather than something from the past 7 years.
  19. ^admit it... you just want some tentacle... lots and lots of tentacle
  20. ^lulz... the running joke for Hollywood last year. But here's some total wishful thinking... Spielberg relating to ET ride, meaning the ET haunted ride conversion that was once dreamed up but scrapped.
  21. ^yea but Pat... they could still have the area blocked off with construction walls... and honestly, the walls could remain up without completely exposing those facades... while still allowing there to be more pathway for crowd flow. Personally I'd like to see the facades done & walls removed (with the exception of entrances into the area remaining obviously) in time for Macys... it'd be great to see them decorated for the holidays (but that wont happen seeing as the rest of the park outside of NY is anti-xmas... yay budget cuts/tight-wad execs)
  22. ^well as I pointed out with my guesses for it regarding RE.... it could be applied to any of the main game characters. Although "Albert Wesker" would probably the better guess only due to the fact that he appears in more of the games than any of the others. And i'd say the only reason why "Surname" would be linked to TWD for being "too easy" is due to the fact that last year, the clue for TWD was "Winnebago". Which is completely obvious as well. Of course the one thing we have to keep in mind is, while we do have a rumored house list.... it is not exactly a confirmed list. Seeing as I pointed out on the previous page, we could actually end up NOT having TWD. (Doesnt matter its popularity with crowds, Freddy/Jason/Leatherface & SAW both brought in the masses... sure not to the extent like last year, BUT marketing didnt shove it down our throats until we choked on it those two years like they did last year either.)...
  23. ^haha I was just going to point out Doomsday I had forgotten about the Zombieland tv series... but if we went the UNI property route, NBC has Hannibal.. and as we mentioned before A&E has Bates Motel.. so really, any current tv series is popular. The reason why I'd say R.I.P.D could be an IP house is only due to the fact that its a UNI property. It'd help generate dvd/bluray sales. Which is the reason why Dead Silence & Doomsday were created as houses. If its not a house, it'll most likely be parodied in B&T..
  24. ^thanks for posting that, I forgot to do that earlier... well if the 'TWD NOT RETURNING' rumor is true, then I could see R.I.P.D. being the IP in its place. It could have house potential. However, Jeff Bridges character annoys the crap out of me. Although i've never read the comic so the trailer was off-putting for me when i watched it last night. The movie is a lot different from what I had expected. It'd probably be in vein of 2010's Zombiegeddon as far houses go, only with monsters. And before anyone says it... yes it resembles MIB with dead people.
