  1. Really?? I have to say, I'm pretty damn shocked by this. I had visions of them doing an SK theme one year and having him show for a night during the event as a "special guest".. oh yes, I've daydreamed about that. It never would've occurred to me that HE would be the one to nix this idea. I'm going to see him do a live reading in Boston in December. If they do a Q&A, I'm gonna flat out ask him why he wouldn't get involved with HHN/ I 100% disagree with you on your last statement. I can tell you right now 500 extra people that would instantly show up at that event if his name were attached.. and these are just nerds I know. As for what could be seen - well, Penn & Teller got the chance to create their own house, didn't they? You'd have to wonder what SK would do with that kind of opportunity. It doesn't have to be something that he's already done. He might be "protective" of his work to some extent - but Google what a "Dollar Baby" is, and you'll see that he's not as protective as you think. I will agree that many translations of his books to movie have been marginal or downright crappy. And then there are the truly inspired translations like "Stand by Me" or "The Shawshank Redemption" or "Misery" that makes me think it's worth sifting through hours of crap in order to find the true diamonds that those movies are. Sorry for the off topic rant / soap box - but I'm pretty sure that as much as you all are HHN authorities, I've got you beat on this topic by far, and I can't help myself but to comment when his name comes up.
  2. <---------------- "IT" is Pennywise the clown - now and forever. Hands down, the scariest character for me from any story, movie, etc. As much as I'd love to see HHN do something with Stephen King, I just don't see it happening except in my dreams. Back on topic: I thought the Twitter pics were GREAT last year - that and the quotes they kept sending out. This is the kind of thing I'm still hoping for. I love that interactive stuff, and they are SO GOOD with it. I can't believe they aren't planning to do something similar this year. I agree on the use of "see more" as opposed to "hear more" that this points to this very thing.
  3. Well, I'll be damned.. you guys are right! Ok, so what was the song that used to play before? Sometimes I used to go to the main page of the site just to hear that because it always made me get in the mood.. It's very strange now - just the random thunder rolling like that. Hmm.
  4. Wesker, how did you not like the Wolfman and Dracula houses in 2009? That just astounds me! I thought they were fantastic. They were actually in my top 5 over the last 7 years I've attended. Whatever they do with the Monsters, I just hope it's with the respect they deserve. They are classics for a reason. I'm really looking forward to finding out exactly what that house will be.
  5. I think they have a really good opportunity to have some very unique items with Penn & Teller and Silent Hill this year. I'd love to see the occasional house specific items. However, I realize that's a gamble as opposed to making "general" HHN items. Still.. can you imagine what P&T could come up with?
  6. I'd kill for a hoodie! It gets cold in Chicago, ya know.. and a hoodie would be 100% coveted by all.
  7. <sigh> My apologies. I'm just WAY too excited to have much patience. I realize I'm acting like a teenager. Please forgive and ignore the above whining.
  8. Can I go on record to say that blows? I mean, we were playing at least SOME games by this time last year - and they kept adding stuff all thru August. We also had the chance to win those cool quote cards thru the text messages they were sending. This year.. nada, and now we have to wait longer for less? That's a total bummer.
  9. Since I don't live in Florida, I get one shot at this event, and we always go the second weekend. So, I guess I have to hope there is still some good stuff left when we get there.
  10. I don't think I've ever seen a hoodie. Would LOVE that! We always go the second weekend.. so you're saying, we should start early and look for this kind of stuff before it goes away? Hmmm. I may take you up on some of your extras JW.
  11. I've noticed a lot of stuff on eBay from previous HHN which I've attended, but the stuff they are selling is stuff I never saw. For example, last year for HHN21, I SPECIFICALLY looked in every gift shop asking for a deck of cards figuring they HAD to have cards for Lady Luck. I was told they didn't have them - over and over again. So, what do I see on eBay? People selling decks of cards from HHN 21! I was like - WTF?? I realize some things being sold are sent to the media - or people can win it. For example, I managed to snag a couple of those quote cards AND I also got the black box with the severed hand holding a card and strands of red hair. VERY cool. But I WON that. I guess I'm asking if I need to be looking in specific places to find the cool stuff. I'm a total geek for this, and I would like to find more than a t-shirt and a shot glass.
  12. Did someone mention clowns? Am I to assume this is a sure thing? The clowns?? Ugh.. Note to self: Bring extra shorts
  13. I've been thinking about the "Free Falling" thing.. and I keep thinking of those scareactors who were on the bungies and swooping back and forth between buildings - was that 2010? i"m SO BAD with remembering what year was what, but I know it was 2009 or 2010.. Considering all the talk about how there won't be much room on the streets in certain areas, I had to think - well, can they do it with scareactors OFF the street? Maybe I'm way off.
  14. Do you guys just Shazaam this stuff? I have to say, I SO appreciate this info.. I plan on trying to make my own video this year, and proper music is so important!
  15. Ok, that made me literally laugh out loud. You are SO RIGHT. Pennywise with FK attitude. Yep. Pennywise is infinitely scarier. Speaking of which, I've often wished they would contact the Master himself.. Stephen King.. and do some stuff with him for the event. I would be in heaven
  16. Makes sense on the Lady Luck thing. I liked the box I won.. with the bloody hand that had red hair stuck to it. That was a hell of a souvenir. Other than that. meh. Ok, so why do you want Jack to die in a fire and never come back? Which Icon is your fave? Just curious
  17. I thought Lady Luck as an "icon" turned out to be disappointing. While the media stuff before the event made it seem like she might be pretty cool, it turns out that the media stuff was better than the actual "icon". Her scarezone was kinda dumb.. to be honest. Jack, on the other hand, would be an icon that would scare year after year - simply for so many of us who have a fear of clowns. I don't remember the maze name from a few years ago, but it was centered around clowns. I believe it was located in one of those tents. I practically ran thru that sucker. Toward the middle of it, my "good friend" told one of the clowns that I was afraid of clowns. He followed behind me with his hand on my shoulder.. I thought it was my friend's hand until I turned around. I'm told the reaction was priceless. I remember heading for the exit - could see it ahead - thinking I was "safe".. when Jack popped out from behind a curtain or something. Scared the crap out of me. You can't put a pricetag on something iike that.
  18. Thanks for the tip on forcing the survey to come up (clicking on the main banner a few times). I took the survey, too, and I voiced my disappointment and frustration at how boring it is and how starkly different and lame it is compared to last year. I do hope they are reading this info. Games would be nice
  19. Thanks, Legacy.. One more question then on Unmasking.. is this something they do throughout the whole event, or just certain days? I don't know how I haven't done this yet. We will be coming down there for the second weekend - Sept 27-30, so I'm hoping we can get in on this during one of those days..
  20. I"m with some of you about Louie's.. the pizza is decent for what it is. I'm usually very picky about pizza.. being a pizza snob from Chicago.. but for the price, the stuff is edible. We usually try to have dinner at one of the restaurants in City Walk beforehand - never tried the Bob Marley place. Sooo.. I take it you think it's awesome? We may have ot check it out. I miss the HItchcock thing, too. It was one of my favorites. I realize a lot of younger people might not know who he is, but isn't that the point of having something like that?? Maybe I'm just old. Same thing with the Monster Cafe - playing the old movies on the tv screens and such. Fans need to understand the history and the richness of this genre. It's more than just these slasher film cloned crap. Is the Unmasking the Horror the same as the "RIP Tour"? I'm asking because I'm planning on going big this year, and I want to make sure I get in on whatever the coolest package is.
  21. Thank you all for humoring me and for being so patient. I appreciate it. I guess that makes sense - about the rides being open. WE wouldn't care, but the "GP".. yeah, probably. I didn't even think about the wait times being worse if the rides were all closed. I have to say the haunted mansion idea thrills me. I love that kind of stuff. I"m thinking of last year's Winter's Night which I thought was one of the best of the event.. For me, personally, I'm not into the gore, per se, nor am I a sci-fi fan.. I appreciate the subtlety and extraordinary effort they put into things like Winter's Night.. or 2009's Wolfman and Dracula. It's truly art... and art that can surprise and scare which is the best kind. One other thing - I'd love to see them do the show at night on the water (I forget its formal name - the 100 yrs thing..) - but just the horror part. That'd be such an addition to the overall feel of the event.
  22. Ok, I don't live in Florida, so I'm only at UOR a few times per year.. obviously, one of those times being for HHN. So, I really on reading all your posts to know what's going. I haven't read all 92 pages of this.. so forgive me if this was addressed elsewhere.. but, am I to infer from this post that they are CLOSING Monsters Cafe?? If so, can I go on record saying that completely sucks dirty ass? As for the topics at hand - if the Simpsons ride was closed during HHN, couldn't they put a cool SZ in front of it? I mean, really, how important is it to have that ride open? I've often thought it was a great spot for a SZ.. a natural, really, with the big clown head right there. You all are talking about wondering about ONE house only.. I know "officially" four have been announced, and I see speculation that one might be a "classic" house.. what's the speculation again on the other? Just an overall idea., please. As for the "classic" idea - I read discussion earlier where someone (I forget who, my apologies) was talking about how fantastic Dracula and Wolfman were in 2009, and I screamed an audible YES in agreement. I so hope something like that will be part of this year's event. I probably went thru Wolfman 8 times in the 2 nights I visited.
  23. Not to sound stupid.. but sometimes I don't always get your initials on stuff. What's UMTH? I want to try the RIP Tour this year. Any idea when that goes on sale? Have you guys done it?
  24. We tried to watch the movie this past weekend, and the acting was kinda bad, so we turned it off after 45 minutes. I may try again just because I'm told we didn't even get to see the "good stuff". I will say, I loved the FEEL of it - very creepy and surreal. What monsters we did see - we agreed they would be awesome in a house. Plus, I really like the music - it tops off the effect perfectly.
