UTH Tours

Recommended Posts

I don't believe that there is an age restriction, however it is a 3 hour tour and I don't think children would do well as they may get impatient.

I went last year with my mom. But this year my cousin is coming with us, and my mom doesn't want to go on the tour. (I am a child, 13 years old. But I won't get impatient, since I'm the one wanting to do it.)

I wanted to take the UTH tour last year but was unable to due to the short notice of the tour's existence (our plans were already in stone). Hopefully this year we'll have a chance to do it.

Some questions for those who have done it in the past - do they typically offer them the first weekend? (The day I'm looking at is Saturday, September 25th)

How much was it last year for the most basic tour? (3-soundstages)

There is an 18-year-old accompaniment restriction, correct? Meaning I'll need an adult of that age to accompany me if I wish to take the tour? (I'll be 17 at the time)

What time of day have the tours been offered? Ideally I'd like to go to the event opening night on Friday the 24th, take a tour in early afternoon or morning on the 25th, and then use an After-4PM Islands pass before heading over to the event again that evening.

Thanks for any help, glad the tour is most likely coming back!

There will be no UTH tours on Sept 24th, wouldnt want to give anything away the first day before the event has even started ;) but they should start the next day on the 25th. Final details have not been set in stone just yet, they're close, just waiting on final approvals and such. The age restriction will apply again this year. The guides conducting the tours can not be held responsible for someone underage. Dont be surprised if there is a price increase, hopefully it wont be a huge one. In the past the tour was offered twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. As the tour only takes place on HHN event dates the last tour has to be clear of any houses by 4pm so the tech crew can the house ready for that night's operation.

Remember, if you want to be on the mailing list for the RIP and UTH tour info the moment it is cleared for release all you have to do is send a brief email to viptours@universalorlando.com and ask to be placed on the HHN XX tour information mailing list.

Awesome info, thanks. If there's a tour on the 25th I should be all set, regardless of any age restrictions (have a father who's rather interested in the artistry of it all but not too keen on getting scared). Will definitely keep an eye out!

Definitely bring your Father on the tour, he will Love walking in the soundstages and seeing it up close with the lights on...

Its one of the things I look forward to the most about our yearly trip. Bring a Camera also....

The tour I took in 2009 and also in 2007 had people with us on the tour that came for the "tour only" and had no plans to go to HHN at nite...

Yes, definitely bring a camera. There is an incredible amount of detail in those houses that'll never even notice at night when the house is up and running (plus you really shouldn't be taking pictures then anyway). Plus, while the house is up and running at night you'd never have the chance to stop for a moment and take a picture of yourself in your favorite room or next to a prop that you really like, but during the tour you can easily do that.

Just a quick tip, if you are going on a UTH tour for the first time. Be sure to go AFTER you've been through the houses in action on a regular night. I made the mistake of going before and it ruined a few of the scare for me as we were shown some of the places SA can re-enter a house to get a victim again.

That is a good point, we always go after we have been to HHN a night or 2. That was good advice!

Thank you HHN Fan, great information. Now I just need to hope they offer a tour on the 25th of September and I'll definitely attempt to get our party involved.

Our tour last year was on the first Saturday, but they have offered them on the first day of the event before. I went on the first tour of the first day of HHN in 2007. I really enjoyed that one, as we got to see a lot of things before they were vandalized by other guests.

See, I didn't have a problem with that at all, and both times I took the tour before I saw the houses. Unless you're looking for the scares ahead of time they usually provide enough distraction to keep you hopping.

The only disappointment I can remember about last year's tour was finding out how cool the end scene in Wolfman was meant to be; I never once caught it when the house was 'on'.

Has anyone heard anything about the tours yet? As far as prices, what is being offered, and when they are starting to take reservations. I don't want to miss out on it.

I just checked my emails from last year I keep on file...

I received the email on the day the information was released and purchasing began on Sept 11, 2009

To be sure not to miss out,

E-mail them at viptours@universalorlando.com and ask to be added to the Unmaking the Horror Mailing List.

Shadowlurker, will the UTH announcement be soon?

Also, any word on whether a Uni admission needs to be purchased? Every year in the past, the UTH could be attended WITHOUT buying a park ticket - you just to VIP services and they escort you out at the end of the tour. I'm counting on that being the same this year.

I mentioned this somewhere else but wouldn't it be nice if instead of doing the 3 Soundstage houses on the tour we did 2 Soundstages and the Parade Warehouse? I mean since the Parade house is like a Museum of HHN filled with props, costumes, etc.

I'd like that a whole lot! I also hope that they have a meet-and-greet with one of the A&D members, like they arranged in 07.
