Terror Tram 2011 [Reviews]

Perhaps the stadium is the new set up for the Stab-A-Thon that they'll be moving over in front of the Bates Motel like we all thought should've been done from the beginning? One can only hope.

Sucks they couldn't get their stuff together before opening night though and I'm glad I got to experience the "original version." It's amazing that it only lasted ONE weekend. And yeah, as barebones and clogged it got there, it was the only thing that even SORTA made it Scream/Stab. I can't imagine how lame the TT is now. Are the Scream 4 soundbytes still playing in the area?

I just got back from HHN. To answer your question, the maze is completely gone, but the sounbytes are still there. To make up for this, there were a lot more Ghostfaces jumping out of the Bates Motel. The reason for this removal, from what I've heard, is because the manager hated how it clogged up the line so he demanded that it be taken out. That's quite a shame since it's the only thing that's made the Terror Tram stick out from previous year. Now it's Chucky's Revenge all over again...except without stiltwalkers or fire. To sum this all up, the "adjustments" they have made for the Terror Tram only made it worse than it really is. It's a shame they had to blow all of their budget on the dumb sound walls. <_<

nope the stadium had nothing to do with the TT as a matter a fact it was across the way from the TT. I told you DTH going opening weekend can has its benefits :D could you imagine have missing this if you went later in the month ? well it wasn't that big but it was still a nice add to the TT. Freak already answered this but yes the soundbytes are still in effect....for now at least 0.o

I found that reason to be really foolish considering the fact its become even more clogged with the route they went back to. Your right those it made the TT worst. I cant believe they actually took a property like scream and did this to it :( hopefully it will get a maze next year to make up for this. And did you see how many sound walls there were freak ? holy moly they added alot down there since last week.

Tell me about it! It's like the neighbors actually want HHN to be canceled indefinitely. <_< They even put up another sound wall at the entrance of Hostel.

well like you said the bright side of this is these walls wont have to come out of our budget next year now that we got them out of the way. And yes i noticed the hostel sound walls as well.

Such a damn shame. I can't believe they did this to Scream. This will go down forever known as the biggest injustice in HHNH history if it doesn't return next year with a maze, which it probably won't.

I just feel like they threw Ghostface on there to shut the fans up and to say "hey, you got your Scream now let's focus on other things that we care about more."

If the creators truly cared for Scream, they wouldn't have trashed it in this way. If Alice Cooper was the Terror Tram icon, do you think it would've been the same crap as it has been for the last couple of years? I highly doubt it and I bet they would've gone all out.

*starts chanting* maze maze maze Maze Maze MAze MAze MAZe MAZe MAZE MAZE MAZE MAZE!

Yea the Scream TT was such a major let down. I might sound a bit foolish but all Murdy needed was the rights from Scream 4 he didnt need the first 3 films. Most of the same characters reside in that film anyways. All he really needed was ghostface as a villian and the rest could of been purely based on originality while staying true to the scream films. Now the only thing to represent scream is the bunch of ghostface on the backlot otherwise you wouldn't even know it was a scream TT. sighs* Another thing, not one character from that Scream film was on the TT being terrorized as a victim or whatever it might of been.[spoiler ALERT] And now that i think of it not only did the ending video make no sense but it wasnt right for them to kill a specific trams guide. Because than when you switch back to the regular guide for the rest of the trip its a big WTF. i got lucky enough to get the same person killed in the video as a tram guides person on the way back once. im not sure if i made any sense to you all or utterly confused you guys lol but im not sure how to really explain that.

I was on the scream-trilogy forums and basically everyone HATES the TT this year because of all the problems I listed in my own personal review: it's got SQUAT to do with Scream or Stab. I found a mini rant by a poster on there that I thought was worth sharing that pretty much sums up all the hatred boiling over there from the HUGE Scream fans (like me). I wonder if this guy posts on here...

kwyjibo:

"I went opening night and was very dissapointed with this. I understand that the rights were only to Scream 4 and thusly didn't have rights to use stuff from the original trilogy. But even still this had no attempt to have anything to do with Scream or Stab and was entirely just a Ghostface centric ordeal, even the tram video setting up the story of he Terror Tram kinda proves HHN Creative Director John Murdy has either no grasp of how the GF character works, or just doesn't care (the rest of the event revolved mostly around fan worship of B list at best horror celebs Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper and Eli Roth. Or plugging universal films Wolfman and The Thing) the only part that had much creative spark was the La Llorona maze. Otherwise the whole event was a big misfire, and I hope dearly Scream gets done properly in the future and I shudder to think what horror properties Murdy manages to ruin in the future in his attempt to be a very high paid autograph hound."

[spoilers] So I'm guessing you got Tina on the way back, after she just got killed? lmao that IS a big WTF. How did she play it off? I'm very curious!

lol it had actually came to a surprise that Tina was our actual tour guide back to the park resurrected from the dead i guess. But she played it off well and made a few jokes of how shes going to send that video in to be a part of the next scream film and the rest was the basic info you get on the way back to the park

So I went HHN last weekend (my review is going to be posted very soon! ;) ) and this Terror Tram wasn't as bad as Chucky's Revenge, but still a major letdown compared to TT:Live or Die and the Nightmare Tour. IMO Ghostface deserves much more than this, hopefully Scream may get chance to be a full fledged maze next year.

Anyhow, I liked whole "fake films" idea for the Tram, but they all seemed too repetive save Meatstalk: Summer of Blood. But does anybody know what the hell "Freakz and Tweakz" is all about? I didn't get to see the fake trailer in the queue video.

I don't know this guy but I like the cut of his jib! I've been saying this for years. Murdy is much more interested in hanging out with B-list celebrities than in bringing new and original content to the event.

What a waste of Scream. For one of the most iconic killers/horror franchises in movies (whether you're a fan or not) all we get is some Ghostfaces thrown into the same old Terror Tram. I mean, Hostel, a franchise no one gives a crap about, got more love than this. Depressing.

On the plus side, I will say that I appreciated the attempts to weave the locations into the story by putting up the "Now Filming" banners in each location. It's more than they've done in the past. But still, that makes this experience Scream how?!?!?

There wasn't one. I was waiting for it too but I guess they didn't have one in mind or they ran out of time to film it or something.

I'm glad we all agree, whether we like Scream or not, that the franchise was poorly represented and deserves another shot at HHN. Hopefully they take our concerns seriously. And if Murdy doesn't have enough passion for the project to make something great out of it than I can name 10 other people, myself included, who could turn it into something amazing and would probably do it for free.

And it just occurred to me - - how cool would it be to have the chainsaws in the WotW area?

^^^ that would be a better change in the Wotw sets. In all guys im sure we can agree you dont have to be a Scream fan to be upset about what they did to the TT. Horror Fans in general know ghostface as a icon and expected more. I dont even want to call it a Scream TT knowing how it poorly represented the films. Also i think they did have a video for freakz and tweaks but im not sure. Ill be sure to do a lookout for it on my next visit. Lets just hope scream gets its better due next year. Honestly something has to change on the TT experience period. It doesnt matter which icon represents the TT year after year....were still gonna have the same old route, the same old themes and the same layouts. Nothings going to change. We need a NEW route ! Using the BS excuse of " fans get to walk on the universal backlot for the first time" is played out . Honestly the best TT was probably back in 2006 followed by 2009 and 2008. The year murdy can use the sets on the upper back lot (western street, new york etc.) is the year were ill truly know were getting our moneys worth. And instead of giving us a ending of getting sprayed by water why not just add the king kong experience to the end for a 2 for 1 deal ?

There is a freakz and tweakz trailer. Its on the fake Freakz and Tweakz website, but its basically about a high school band geek who gets picked on and then attacks his bullies with a chainsaw.

YES thats the one ! i wasnt really sure though because on my last trip i didnt see it so i thought maybe there wasnt one. thanks for clarifying this trev. Oh and i seen you on friday again keep up the good job :)

Just watched Scream 4 again after buying it. I cannot believe they utilized NOTHING from such a brilliant movie. I'm convinced a full on maze can be done on it, especially if Halloween could be done then Scream 4 definitely can be too. I'd like to see a maze on the whole series but still, there NEEDS to be justice brought from this year's TT tragedy and the only way that can be done is if Scream is done justice in the form of a maze, the way it was supposed to be in the first place!

  • 3 months later...

Terror Tram was a total let down, which really sucks because normally its the start of my night and it sucked the big one. The new fence maze in front of the Bates Motel was a complete cluster fuck. It slowed us all down and due to the fact that we were conga lining our asses through there it lost its scare factor. And every thing else........ eh. I have full faith that Murdy will improve this for next year.
