Sirens are the beautiful women (mermaids?) who sat on rocks while singing luring boats to crash into the rocks. They're definitely evil and i would LOVE to see them. However, i have a feeling sirens relates more to the sound itself. Such as a fire, jailbreak, toxic leak, evacuation, etc.
There are people cast as "Sirens". The role is more than likely related to mythology.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they would place a "Best of HHN" house in a tent. But, who knows?
-
Although, I find it strange that they fail to mention Bloody Mary on the Iconic Era section of the Legacy.
I don't think there is an Usher reference either.

At first, I wasn't really looking forwards to a greek mythology room, but thinking about it now, if we get one, it'll be great!
I would think more broadly, more than just a "room".

This triple confirms what I've heard about the house with the gorgon/Army of Hades rooms.
Which SS was/is the "Gorgon/Army of Hades" room in?
Edit - never mind, found it... SS 23

Hollywood could also be used as a "best of" zone, like what was was done in 2006. Also, at least 7 con-artists per cast on a street, interesting.

I think JW may be on to something with the 80's-style speculation. I also agree that it looks like a garage.

I just want to say good luck and have fun to everyone attending the auditions tomorrow!
Yeah, what Mark said.

as for houses its obvious theyre gonna bring back old hhn houses.
I disagree. I don't think it's obvious at all. Think outside the box.

Just a question for you veteran SAs I just thought of...Back in 2007, I had the chance to go to HHN more than once. During my second trip, I wanted to take friends to Psychoscarepy Home for the Holidays, but when we approached, the House was closed. I always wondered what would cause them to actually CLOSE a house? I can't think of anything portion of HftH that would have been "technical difficulties." So would you have any answers from experience on what may have caused the closure?
Other than technical problems, safety concerns are a major factor in a house closing. Last year, the soundstages flooded and had to be evacuated. Guests/actors sometimes have health problems, etc. Things like that happen every year.

Skittles, the casting directors look at you from many angles to determine whether they want to hire you. One of these is your availability. You have to make sure that you can work alot of the nights of HHN. This is not to say you can't request a few days off, we all do, but I wouldn't request anymore than two. My rule of thumb has always been to take one Saturday off for the UF-LSU game and call in sick for another night that I want to attend. You get one call in sick, this may vary so if someone wants to correct me if I am wrong, but that's what I remember being told. Also don't forget ABU or Fire Crew, you won't be in a set cast, but you only need to come in 7 or 8 times, again if I am wrong, will someone correct me, and you get to keep your seasonal status and all that comes with that. These days can be at your disposal and if you show up and don't get placed, then you still get credit, not money tho , for that night and you can just attend if you so choose. Good luck!
Yes, you should still have a good shot at being cast if you ask for 2 nights off. Obviously the more available you are, the more attractive of an applicant you become.
As far as using a sick night in order to attend the event..... do NOT do this. If they see you in the park you can and probably will be terminated.
Lastly, if you are cast as an Active Back-up, you will need to show up ready to work at least 5 nights in order to keep your employment with Universal (this number can and may change). If you are cast for FireCrew, you are expected to be there for every night that you said that you would be available. In most cases, FireCrew members only have a few (if any) days off.

The Jaws queue smelled like burnt wood (construction) or there were finished burnt wood "props"?

It may be a mistake, a typo, or red herring, but why is half of SS23 available and SS24 totally unavailable. Does this mean SS22 will hold two houses instead of SS23? Why will SS24 be unavailable? Will we have another que line in a soundstage? Just confuses us ever so slightly. I would have thought SS23 would be 2 houses and SS22 only 1.
I anticipate all of the mazes will be in the same locations as last year. Also, Family Feud is taping at USF, possibly in 24. I think they're supposed to be done by mid-September though. Someone else might be able to fill in some more details here.

As in years past, this year's opening weekend nights will close at 12am.

Damn slow internet connection.... I'll leave the link though, just in case you can't find it.

Personally, I've never stayed in IOA and tried to do the crossover. I know it has been done in years past, but I'm not sure of the specifics.

Nothing is confirmed, but my best guess is that the returning/internal audition date will be July 13 and the first open audition will be July 20.
Back that statement up by a week:
July 6 = returning/internal HHN auditions (rumored)
July 13 = First HHN auditions open to all (confirmed)
EDIT: Well, Jon you obviously were reading my mind.

In USO where do we stay for the Stay and Scream this year?
Does my AP (Power Pass) count as a Stay and Scream upgrade if i bought a FFP for HHN?
There won't be any info regarding this year's S&S holding areas until much closer to opening night, if not as late as opening night itself.
As far as taking part in Stay and Scream, this general statement applies to all admission types; if you are inside the Universal Studios theme park before closing (usually 5pm) and you have ANY form of valid HHN ticket for that night, you will be allowed to stay in the S&S holding area.
-
There are usually two holding areas for Stay & Scream. One in N.Y., and one in Kidzone or back by Bill and Ted. For the past two years, the holding areas have been on Delancey Street (including Finnegan's) and back in Kidzone. The Delancey St. area will let you out to the Soundstage houses while the Kidzone area will let you into the Parade building and one of the Sprung Tents. The houses usually open in 15 minute intervals. For example, last year the Wolfman and Silver Scream houses opened between 5:45/6 and then Dracula/Chucky opened at 6/6:15.
-
I'd like to clarify what the Stay & Scream ticket option is. Basically it is an upgrade for your day ticket to the park(s). It is cheaper than the regular price of admission to HHN if bought separately.
For this year:
Stay and Scream tickets are valid for one admission to Halloween Horror Nights. Prices for the Stay & Scream upgrade are $64.99 +tax for Saturday nights, $49.99 +tax for Friday nights and $34.99 +tax for all other nights in addition to your daytime park ticket admission. The price of a regular HHN ticket without a daytime ticket:
General admission is $74.99+tax the day of event. In either case, as long as you are in the park before closing, you will wait in one of the designated "Stay & Scream" holding areas. They will usually let you into the 1st house(s) sometime between 5:45-6pm.

that was one of those many well done houses over the years that didn't get the props it truly deserved in my book.
I agree. The house was especially good during the beginning of the run before the actors were told to change some of their scare-tactics. To an extent, I find similarities between Dead Exposure and The Thing. For me, both were better early in the season and both created a high level of anxiety.
As far as this year, I think Sting Alley will return as a scarezone or hopefully as part of a larger zone. The entrance to the Mummy is what hinders a larger NY zone like we had with Deadtropolis. Maybe they could use Delancey Street/Sting Alley as one larger zone?
-
Precisely...
As I stated earlier, the only way they could try to recreate the aspects of this house that made is amazing would be to build some type of maze like enclosure outside and make it a mini-house/scarezone of sorts.
All in all, it would be a difficult task to try and use the concept that DE in a scarezone environment without going to some extreme measures.
I think the adage "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" applies here. If Universal wants to bring back the Dead Exposure concept, in my opinion it belongs in a house. I don't know if I'd bring the concept back so soon, but I'd love to see another house like Dead Exposure sometime in the future.

What year did they use the Zombies in New York, I think it was 16 that was the year they had the zombie Hunters on the Motorcycles. Thry had zombie hookers, Business men zombies, doorman zombies, that was done well and it was a big zone.

Yes, that was the Deadtropolis scarezone at Sweet 16.
HHN XX Speculation II

I hate to say it because it's not the answer you are looking for but, patience is a virtue. Have some faith and continue to speculate. We all need something to tide us over for the next 77 days.
