  1. The multiplayer game for this house will be searching through coffins, trying to figure out which one contains Poes body. Interesting.
  2. Oh damn, I would've saved three dollars on my FFP if I would've used my AAA discount. Heh, oh well. Also, internet gods forgive me....but this just had to be done.
  3. You're right about the college theme. Seems to have a comic book theme as well. Rumors has some pictures of the facade up on their site. Dunno the rules to linking over there, but we don't have any pics of that up yet. So click here to see them.
  4. Strange. We're in the "second phase" right now, but I don't see a multiplayer game for this house when I click on the card. I've also never heard anything about it being released. Are you getting that info from the data files or something, or do I maybe need to clean out my cache?
  5. Players are now granted 480 tokens when making a new account, at least during this "Second phase." I made a new account when my main one was banned to see more tokens than I knew my main one would have ever gotten in the past.
  6. My apologies if this was mentioned, but it seems as if the single night admission prices for Florida residents has actually decreased by a good amount with the Coke or BK discount. The discount for Saturday nights used to only be something like five or ten bucks, but now it's fifteen. For Fridays it's 30, and 40 for Sun-Thurs. So at least they're still thinking about Florida residents. What I really think are overly expensive are those express passes. Geesh. To add it onto the FFP it's a little bit more than the price of the ticket! Insane! I mean, considering that it's for every day you're there with the FFP, ok maybe it's not *too* bad...but it's hard to justify spending that much money. I'll just put up with the lines again. That's what I'm used to doing, and last year I successfully hit all of the houses the first night while waiting in line normally...I saw all of the scarezones, AND got to see Bill and Ted. Part of the fun is successfully making a plan where you can do everything in a night, and manage your time in the lines properly. I went on to do this several times even on very busy nights. What I'd REALLY like to see (and please somebody slap me and mention it if it already exists!) is a one time fee parking pass, that lasts like a month or something. I'm sick of having to come in after 8 to save on parking, and sick of paying the extra 10-15 bucks (I forgot the exact price because I only go to Uni for HHN)each night I want to show up before everything starts. Even if I'm paying a similar amount of money, at least it'll already be spent, and things will be quicker in the parking garage lines.
  7. I just went back. I can confirm that the new games were definitely taken down, though those of us who were lucky enough to play them last night and unlock the tokens still have our tokens unlocked. They're probably trying to fix the issue where people who never beat the old games can no longer get the full token. I advise anyone who doesn't have their half tokens yet to get them NOW!
  8. I think that your risk of getting hurt by a flipping out veteran is just as high as it is getting hurt by a flipping out drunk guy. I wouldn't fret about it. This is another reason why I'm thinking we shouldn't flip out too much about this house...it's going to create false fears about a group of people. I understand the need and the point of mentioning that this may cause issues for some people afflicted by any combat related psychological issues, but your implied fear of this group of people shows how those who are trying to make that point need to remain tactful and try not to turn it around the other way. For what it's worth (Wow, I really overuse that phrase) if someone >does< flip out in a house, it's more likely that they'll be flipping out on the "aggressors" and not the other guests (though that's still possible too). I've seen drunks, drugged up morons, and just plain out morons attack scareactors and guests before and totally "Flip out" at this event...but nobody ever died from it, and usually the guests were the ones with the least amounts of injuries. So for your purposes, you should most likely be fine...the scareactors and ops will probably take the brunt of any "freak outs."
  9. Clear your cache, delete your cookies, etc etc. If you've cheated in the past and haven't lost tokens to it yet, it will remember and take away your tokens. Also, they're a bit buggy. Last night I waited probably half an hour to find a partner on one of the games, and I won almost right away...but the game just sat on the final screen. Eventually I refreshed the page, and I lost my 60 tokens and didn't get the credit to The House . They may have read about people being unable to access the old games and are trying to fix it somehow.
  10. I noticed the light coming from the doors a few days ago, but never mentioned anything because the website update thread was locked. They put that in either the day of or the day after the reveal. Awesome with the new games. Maybe my wishes of a backstory will come true after all.
  11. I agree that without the smell it would really seem dead. I think it's possible to bring the smell in without risking a large buildup of any harmful gases. I'm not entirely sure. One method would possibly be to actually use one of the live chainsaws except in a very limited manner....like twice in an hour, and no longer than 30 seconds. That'd surely give enough odor off to stay in the house, and at that most likely wouldn't put out nearly enough carbon monoxide or other gases to harm scareactors or guests...or more importantly, break the amount of gases that a worker can legally inhale as per OSHA. I sound like such a legal geek talking about that. Not only am I not an expert on legal things, but I know very little about the correct standards. My knowledge comes from memorizing the policies that are taught whenever I got my job, and from articles I've read on the internet. I am, however, a nursing student...hence the knowledge about how harmful it can be...it's a huge risk just because when someone comes to you complaining of symptoms that were created by carbon monoxide poisoning, you could assume that those symptoms were brought on by many various things, and if they took on a lethal dose, you may not realize it until it's too late. Very very unlikely, yes I know...but the risk is still there.
  12. Legacy, I agree with you that they shouldn't make it too realistic...you prove a very valid point. However, with these so-called Nightingales flitting about the house, I doubt that anyone dressed as a soldier or anyone with a gun will be lunging at the guest. Artillery and small arms fire sound effects are a given, and if we do see a soldier "firing" at anyone it'll most likely be at the Nightingales. Even at that, the use of automatic rifles wasn't very widespread in that time, so hopefully instead of a "ratatatatat" it'll just be a bolt action "bang *click, ching* bang" etc. That'd ease things up quite a bit. Though there's no way to change the noises of artillery and of the overlying automatic machine guns, but still...I think that they can balance it so it'll work for everyone. For what it's worth, WOTLD had EXTREMELY loud sound effects. I'd always jump when they'd "fire" their mortars, or the machine gun. It wasn't hyper-realistic, and this house won't be hyper-realistic either as evidenced by the presence of the Nightingales, but the noises at least tried to be. I'm really looking forward to this house, and I hope that they don't blow it for anyone....veterans, or guests. I think that a balance can be achieved, and that Universal is more than competent enough to achieve it. As long as the ops are aware of potential issues that could stem from guests not being able to handle certain effects, and as long as there are plenty of exits that are clearly marked (as much as we all hate seeing them in houses) I think that it will work out just fine.
  13. There should be plenty of exits in case anyone with issues needs to exit. I think that the loud noises and whatnot won't be any different than what we experienced in Havoc, or WOTLD in '09. Not to mention, none of us alive have fought in WWI; It's a lot different than modern combat and whatnot. I was discussing this with Legacy (my oh my, we're all talking about him in this thread) over at Rumors. It's doubtful that they're going to make it super-realistic, and if they do, it probably would be in bad taste. However, it'll be hard for them to surpass what they've already done so far in terms of explosions and gunfire. I'm sure if someone with PTSD was able to handle houses like Havoc, or the WWII themed street in 2009 then they'll be able to handle this just fine. If not, then maybe they should stay away. That's just my opinion. It would be in bad taste if they totally alienated our men and women in uniform. However, they should be fully aware of the nature of the event ahead of time, and I don't think it's that much different than what we've seen in the past. Quick "cool story bro" for those of you who don't mind reading: I myself was in the USAF for a short while, but was separated due to medical issues. I don't consider myself a veteran, and I'm not saying this for "credibility" because I'll be first to say that I wasn't in nearly long enough to learn what it's really like. However, I have plenty of friends in different branches. In 2009 I went to HHN with a friend in the USMC. He's a vehicle gunner. Hasn't been deployed yet, but has been through tons of training. He flipped out in WOTLD, and put us into "escape mode" acting all serious the whole way through, dodging bullets, low crawling, crazy stuff. Afterwards he laughed and said it was tons of fun and wanted to do it again! Here I was thinking we may have hit a nerve. In Saw, he lost his marbles again in the finale room where the door behind you closes, and tons of the pig-mask people come out to surround you....he grabs my arm, and FLIES to the exit screaming "CRAMER MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE MOVE GET OUT OF HERE MOVE" and we ran out of the house at breakneck speed, and both laughed at it afterward. Finally, in the Chucky house, when we reached the "Army Man" room, he flipped out yet again when the Army Man "fired" at us. He hit the deck, and low crawled out of the room before I could even realize where he went. I tried to go down and low crawl behind him, but the USAF doesn't put as much emphasis on low crawling as the USMC does. Of course, afterward it was a laughing matter. He said each time he wasn't just dicking around...he said it was like his training kicked in, and he really was trying to get out of the situation alive, but afterward knew it was all fun and it didn't really offend him or affect him in the least. It was a blast for both of us. It'd be a completely different story if he had been deployed previously, I bet. But every time I think of this house, I think of how much of a blast he had, and how if it's similar to those past houses it'll be just as awesome.
  14. It's probably possible and would be great to see in place, but see the problem is, carbon monoxide is odorless, and it's a "silent killer." Carbon Monoxide poisoning has no obvious symptoms; all of the symptoms are vague and could point to many different ailments. Prolonged exposure can cause serious permanent damage, or if it's in a great enough concentration, it could cause fainting, convulsions, comas, even death. It could lead to many lawsuits, guest injuries, etc if one of those systems failed or was inadequate. Not to mention, they'd probably have to get tons of various approvals from OSHA before being allowed to try something like that. There's only a certain amount of carbon monoxide and a certain amount of carbon dioxide that a worker is allowed to be exposed to in a certain period. I'd love to see it, and I never get scared of chainsaws unless I smell the 2-stroke oil burning (something about it makes my spine tingle with excitement) but having live chainsaws in an enclosed environment like that would lead to way too many problems. Legal, AND potential health problems.
  15. In that case, I mean that I tell my friends the "story" each year. You're right, I wrote that before I was fully woken up. Even though the story last year wasn't fully intricate and didn't have everything tying together, that's not what I'm asking for now. Granted, that's what I've asked for before the reveal, and is what I'd really love to have, but I know it isn't going to happen. Last year didn't have a full intricate story, but it still had a story...and a pretty decent one too. It created disappointment because it wasn't as intricate as previous years, but it still at least existed. This year we have no story at all so far. I'm not asking for another HHN18 or 15, I'm asking for something at least as decent as last year. At least, in terms of story. Even though the houses and all of that didn't match up perfectly last year, they all linked somehow to the overall idea. They were all different emotions if I remember correctly, all based on one of the old icons....like Legend was the Storyteller and based on Hallow'd Past , Vengeance was the Usher and based on Psychoscareapy, etc etc. I was hoping at least for that this year, but hell, even without that much detail, just some kind of basic (but not 'cop out' basic) explanation of LL would make me a happy man.
  16. That almost would make Hal's 'join us' type status updates make sense, but it still doesn't give a good impression of why she's here making all of these houses or whatever unless they cop out saying that our luck has run out and she's trying to kill us just for the hell of it. It does give a bit of insight to the "cult" thing though. If they used that wikipedia story and made it make sense for the purposes of the event I'd be content, because it definitely does have potential. It gives me a bit of hope...I know that they're not done and we still have some time, but that time's definitely running out. I just hope that it isn't left at that. It'd kill a ton of the fun for me. Every year I have friends that call me, knowing I'm a huge fan of this event, asking what the theme is. Last year I remember telling them something along the lines of "Fear turned out to be controlling the icons in the past all along, and has now brought them all out for their final round of terror." They loved it. Convinced a few to buy tickets who otherwise wouldn't go otherwise. I even got in huge conversations with people while waiting in lines, and I'm sure that I directed a few to Nightmares....or in the past, the Vault. I know that I'm basically repeating my previous post, but what I'm getting at is: What am I supposed to say this year? I'm certainly not going to tell anyone who asks me about the event my bitter thoughts. I don't want to turn anyone away from the event. And yes, people are asking me now...and I'm having a very awkward time explaining it. It's still going to be a hell of an event, crappy story or not, and I still want all of my friends to go, and I've even put on my to-do list "BUY YOUR FFP ALREADY!" All I can come up with is "Lady Luck has come to Orlando, and your luck has run out!" This doesn't entice friends at all. Last year we knew about Fear around this time, and I was able to give the whole story with no issues. Now I at least want an idea of what to tell people without disappointing them. But I digress. I know that we do still have some time. I'm just hoping out loud. And as I said...I LOVE this event, and I'm going to LOVE it this year too! Even without a story, it's going to be a hell of a lot of fun! I just need to think of a better way to explain what's going on to my friends lol...I know that they have *some* things left to reveal, the rumors just aren't pointing those "things" to being an at least someone decent story.
  17. Maybe I've just been spoiled by the speculation, but the whole "Lady Luck" thing still has yet to really sing to me. I was looking forward to a Lady Luck, but I was hoping that they'd at least have somewhat of a backstory by now....we still know nothing about this character. The houses all look fantastic, and I'm looking forward to each and every one of them....especially the 3D and Blue Light house. Some of the scarezones seem awesome, though one or two seem a bit generic...but that's ok, because usually the actors will carry a zone regardless of how good or bad the theme is. Either way, I'm still looking forward to this event. It's going to be a blast. It's just that the story and site just seem to be so "meh" so far though. I mean, anyone remember the warehouse experience? Not only were those games genuinely fun, but they were scary as hell too. These "luck" games are just annoying, and aren't scary at all...and don't explain the Lady in the slightest, except maybe in some hidden hints that we won't notice until after some facts are revealed. Granted, there still is time, as I've told everyone that I've seen complain before now. It could still flesh out to be a lot better...and even if the website, games, and story don't flesh out to anything even the caliber of last year (which I really enjoyed, even though they did kinda blow Fear in the long run) I'm still going to have a hell of a time at the event, and love every second of it. That I'm sure of. So please nobody take this as a "hai gyz the event sux i no by ticket dis yerrr lololol" post. I'm just offering constructive criticism and my take on things because I know A&D reads these, and hopefully they can make sense of the event before it begins .
  18. There are some pics in the construction thread...one of the first guesses was that it would be a changing scarezone. It's pretty simple buy ingenious at the same time.
  19. Maybe they are going to do the full reveal at 12AM...if they are giving the "winners" their reveal at 11:30, that means they don't have much time to spoil it. If they wait to do the full reveal later in the day then there'll be plenty of time for the "winners" to spread what they learned.
  20. Yes, that's what I was thinking. We should have it toward the beginning so the chicks aren't as accustomed to the houses yet lol. But still not opening night. Both times I ever took a date to HHN resulted in them holding onto me for dear life for the entire night. It was pretty fun . Hmm, what do you guys say of the second week? As in, dates after the opening weekend. So, to keep it in line with those of us who'll have Frequent Fear Passes, how about one of the following dates: Thursday Sep 29, Sunday October 2nd, Thursday Oct 6th, or Sunday Oct 9th? We can even make it multiple nights too, like every Sunday or Thursday or something like that. That'll probably be the best choice, seeing as how everybody is going to want to come on different dates, but our biggest worry now is the first meeting. If nobody chimes in, maybe I'll volunteer to be the group leader, and assign our first meeting as Oct 6th.
  21. I usually have tons of fun in the streets. I don't get scared nearly as often as I used to, but on that note, the same usually goes for houses too. Last year I had several good scares in the streets. To add to that, I think I not only have tons of my fun in the streets...I have MOST of my fun in the streets...it's a lot easier to play around with scareactors, or just sit back and watch the show. Houses are great, and I love them too, but they are two different animals.
  22. Hmm. I'm really enjoying the setup we're getting so far. I'm hoping that we'll get more of a unified story. I understand that at this point it's not going to be easy to make a very in depth story, but of course having a good one in general shouldn't be too hard. This setup is nice...the games are annoying, but The House is very intriguing. Though I'd like to add...keep in mind that HOS this year is doing away with a mascot, and we already have one very huge similarity with their event so far, being the Poe house. I still can't believe that that rumor came true! But that's the glory of these websites. Hell, even Jimmy's completely unintended helicopter rumor seems to be coming true. Awesome stuff.
  23. Welcome to the boards. It truly is an addiction. Every time I read a post from a new member I remember the first time I went in 2002 and stumbled across a HHN fan site after coming home from the event. I was hooked ever since. Seeing more people get hooked to the speculation and mystery really makes me happy. To keep it on topic: The cemetery house also is at the top of my interest list right now. Every other house is fairly well laid out as far as theme or story goes, but the cemetery house we know very little about. All we have is the "Lady Hawthorn" thing, the crypts, and...I'm hoping nobody forgot about this...the code name which is/was "Blue Light." I notice that the lanterns in the game are blue, and that the light over the entire game has a blue theme. Maybe blame it on the snow, but I'm hoping that the "blue light" hint has more to do with it than we originally imagined. My very hopeful mind wants this to be the next "Terror Mines" or "PUTS" except instead of hats, blue lanterns. Of course, I understand that that's quite unlikely. As I said, very hopeful mind .
  24. Hmm, very interesting info on the coin. That definitely puts us at or after 1492. The rumors about this being related to the Columbus voyage may have been a little bit more accurate than I had thought. I'm positive that this is where the Spanish speaking actors are going to be...I mean, where else could they be? Glad that it isn't a "Spanish Inquisition" house, that would've certainly been odd. I'm thinking that even though this screams "Pirate" ship, it could simply be a ghost ship or just a shipwreck. Or, possibly, one that was attacked by pirates if you still want to go that route. I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far...can't wait for the "big reveal." They still have enough time to build up a somewhat elaborate back story, and from what we've been given so far, I think that things can be tied together rather nicely if they choose to go that route this year.
  25. I'm unsure about the "wrong rope" thing, as I only noticed four ropes, and I cut them all...sword didn't break once. Pure luck? Don't think I want to try it anymore I've already lost enough tokens since they made things a bit harder lol.
