  1. As far as I know, the event hasn't had anything like that before, so it would be something completely new. I could easily see it being one of the most memorable houses. The scare actors could get right up in your face, and you wouldn't even know it until they switched on. Or put them on those bungee cords or other lines and you could get them flying around without seeing how they're being held up. You could even mix it with some black light and florescent paint to create a really textured, visual house. It could be so good...
  2. I want this as a house. The concept could be some sort of cyberspace nightmare or virtual reality gone awry. Heck, I could even see this as a high-tech sequel to Esqueleto Muerte. Throw in some animatronics and other tech with what they're doing here, and the potential scares are huge. You could even overlay multiple configurations on the same actor and have transformations in real-time in front of your eyes. Like from a normal person to monstrous creature, maybe because of a computer virus corrupting the system or something. So many possibilities with this tech...
  3. Okay, so now that it's getting close enough to the season (7 months is close enough, right ), I thought I'd share my collection. I've only been to HHN XX, and I live in Chicago, so coming across almost anything HHN can be a bit tough. So here's what I've managed to accrue, mixed with some related stuff. Hope you enjoy! The Wolfman from 19, chainsaw from really any year, Freddy's glove and Jason's mask from 17 (prop replicas). XX media kit, and a lantern that will be turned into Fear's lantern as soon as grad school gives me some time. XXI Facebook kit, XXI coin and deck of cards, and a printed picture of Lady Luck 1:6 scale Body Collectors The box for the XX media kit, another Freddy glove, and my XX lanyard The XXI brochure and three of the Facebook cards The XX brochure and print outs of the icons HHN XX Fear poster with map on the other side I'm waiting for another piece to come in, and then I'll be making framed brochures for 18 and 19. And I still need to track down the media kits for 18 and 19, the other XXI facebook cards, and maybe someday some Usher stuff (my favorite icon). Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed my small but slowly growing collection!
  4. My two dream houses are a Trick 'r Treat house (even a generic, non-licensed version) and a Lovecraft house. Stephen King could be neat, but I'm not sure which of his stories would work well in a house format. Especially since I imagine you'd have to be careful about likenesses for stories that have been licensed for movies.
  5. I'd be very surprised to see any of the old icons/pseudo-icons before HHN XXV. So while possible, I think it would be very slim. And really, there are plenty of other ideas out there for them to visit before bringing back the old icons (although I would love to see Usher again, personally). This may play a part of the event, but like others have mentioned, I really hope this isn't the theme of the event. Unless it's just the catalyst for something else to be released. My guess is that something along these lines is most likely. If they tie in an apocalypse theme, I could see them going the route of Fate or Destiny or something. No matter what you do, your fate is sealed. Plus, weren't the Fates gods or demi-gods or something in Greek mythology? Something along the lines of Pandora could work, and it could be tied into the Mayan end of the world thing. Maybe Pandora is just one example of a much larger entity. Much like all the houses last year were merely examples of Luck making her presence known through time.
  6. Is it possible, given that this is only March, that they may have at least the new streets ready by September? At least enough to open a section back up and put in a sz or something? I don't know how long they take for those sort of things, so I don't know how feasible it is. But maybe?
  7. I think we may not have have had one the last couple years because they've been going the more thematic route for the icons. Less about a specific person, and more about a concept. Fear was an obvious one, as that's present in all the houses and the sz. And last year, they framed everything as a choice that was made (however loosely), and ended poorly. And while they could have made a house about Lady Luck, there might be a conscious effort going on to make the new icons' presence a little more implicit, and create a sense of subtext to the event. Or, they just don't like doing icon houses any more. It'll be interesting to see if the trend continues this year.
  8. I think either 1 or 3 are the most likely.
  9. I would LOVE this. Bring some of the classic Halloween iconography back into the event. Throw in some scarecrows, and I think I found my favorite house.
  10. I can't remember for sure, but doesn't a lot of Lost Continent have fossils of shells and sea life and what not embedded in the concrete? That would all have to be pulled up too for HP. But I don't remember if that was in the street as well (only went through that section once, and it was right before HHN, so my mind was on other things ). Or was that just outside Sinbad and Poseidon's Fury?
  11. With this much construction going on at once, it really seems to give more and more credibility to two parks.
  12. No really sure if this is the best forum for these, but it seems to be the closest related. I enjoy toy photography as a hobby, and have recently taken a couple HHN related shots that I thought I'd share and to get feedback on. The first I posted in the HHN Collections thread, but here it is again: Your Luck has Run Out by Boogeyman13, on Flickr I was able to score a set of The Gentlemen that Sideshow released a while back, and since they strike a remarkable resemblance to the Body Collectors, I decided to take a shot that was HHN related: The Body Collectors by Boogeyman13, on Flickr Any feedback is welcome, and I hope you enjoy them! I have one more photo planned right now for HHN XX, but it requires some building first...
  13. Just off the top of my head, it could have been an all icon house. Maybe showing how Fear was involved in the creation of the 5 icons. You'd step into the lantern or something and have flashback scenes. Basic have him subtle in all the scenes, and then the full reveal at the end. Maybe push it into a soundstage and combine it with Hallow'd Past (go through the warehouse and then into the lantern)? It would have to be fleshed out a bit more, but maybe something along that line? EDIT: LOL Reading more about this event, Hallow'd Past apparently did have the large open lantern in it, which led to flashback scenes of prior HHN's. Man, I apparently do not remember this house well at all...
  14. Ugh. I so wish I had gone to HHN 19. Great concept and houses, and the Usher is my favorite icon. It looked like just a really great year.
  15. Another point to consider though, is that Orlando is currently offering some pretty nice discounts on their hotel rates, up to 30% off if you book 7 nights (which is about $206-$216 a night vs $254-$274 or something like that). Depending on how long you're staying and how many people are coming, you may just want to book now and then add the tickets. Or it may be a wash. I'm not sure how much the HHN packages are.
  16. Okay. Yeah, Fear Revealed was just a SZ. I wonder why they haven't done an Icon house for the last two years? The Hallow'd Past was sort of one, since Fear was orchestrating the whole thing. But no actual Fear house, and no Lady Luck casino-themed house last year seems weird, considering the past. Maybe it's part of the New Age of Darkness thing. Oh, I believe someone posted earlier in this thread that XX, XXI, and XXII are a trilogy of events? I hadn't heard that before. Does anyone know more about this, or know if that's a true statement?
  17. Was there a kick-off show for Fear in HHN XX? I don't remember ever hearing/seeing one...
  18. Would they suspend the parade for HHN? Isn't October considered the "off-season" anyway? Of course, if they do two parks (or even entirely at IOA), it would most likely be a moot point. Between this and Amity being boarded up, there are a lot of new factors this year. I'm really curious to see what they end up doing.
  19. Waiting until next year to do a "100 Years of Fear," while technically accurate and sounding nice, would be a huge lost opportunity for marketing the event. All eyes are on Universal this year, so to speak. Including it as a part of the overall celebration makes much more sense, and they can better tap into the momentum that the centennial is generating.
  20. Wasn't the "doomsday" house a movie house as it was? I could see it working a bit. The Catacombs could come back as a period house dealing with the dying above gorund. And the obligatory zombie house. Throw in Lovecraft's Old Ones coming back, the Mayan end of the world, and maybe a Y2K-ish house (the comedy house), and you're well on your way to a doomsday themed event. Not saying that that's the way it should go, but if you deal with the end of the world as a theme, and not just a specific one, I could see an event form around it.
  21. I think that it's a combination of the fact that this is HHN 22 (duplication in the number), and the fact that Amity is shut down. This could cause some decent sized bottlenecking in that area, particularly with B&T being right there. Opening up both parks to HHN is something they've done before, could fit into the theme of the duality of the number, and would help alleviate any crowd control options. But as far as I know, it's all wishful thinking without solid evidence to back it up at this point. And I agree that I wouldn't want the end of the world to be the entire event, but I think it's too big to not at least bring it into 22 a little.
  22. I agree, and it would be awesome if they did it, as I've never been to HHN at IOA. I wonder what they could use though? I could see Fate and Choice, but the latter was basically Lady Luck this year. And since both Fear and Lady Luck have kind of gone above the icons of before to be more personifications of themes, I don't know if they'd go back to two "normal people". Maybe they could do something like Fate and Anarchy, and the tag lines for the two could be something like "Succumb to Destiny" and "Evil Reigns Free," respectively. The Fate side could all be about the crushing realization of inevitability and order, and the other could be complete and utter chaos. I'm thinking Fate for USO, and Anarchy for IOA.
  23. If they did both parks, I could see them cutting it off right around the Mummy or the Disaster queue and at Shrek 4-D (similar to what they've done before), and then cutting off HP on the IOA side. That would still give them plenty of open rides and restaurants, and enough room for houses and scare zones.
  24. In full on planning stage for HHN 22!
