  1. Why would we need to freeze this thread for a week or two? This thread is doing just fine.
  2. Not even the vloggers, the people using them as flashlights to see their way through....
  3. Legitimately hate the losers who turn on their lights in a scarezone. Like, dude, its dark for a reason.
  4. Microsoft starts the week after HHN ends, this year.
  5. That October Wednesday (or Thursday) has been used by Microsoft corporate as their Ignite conference ended to provide a perk to their attendees. But Microsoft moved the conference to November this year. So, I wonder if they are holding the date back as a trade off for the 29th or to leave it open to another corporation to purchase?
  6. Someone has to pick up the torch. The landscape has consolidated so much that the mouse owns damn near everything and what they don't own is either irrelevant, owned by others looking to get in the game and keep it away from Universal, or - in the case of what Universal does own - getting very stale. They need to create new resources. I wouldnt mind if they went 8:2 OP:IP, but they will never go back to that because of the $$$.
  7. Brandon, If you enjoyed "The Wall" movie, you may find the Roger Waters: The Wall very enlightening and it does provide some great insight to the entire The Wall story.
  8. "How about suggestion of some sort of IP that we could get for HHN29?" Its almost mid January. Are we not way past the selection stage of the game?
  9. If they are open Wednesday to Sunday that is your 5 day work week. If you wanted to be open 7 days a week it would require a lot more people to be able to rotate and provide everyone a 5 day week. You are right about Microsoft. Their Ignite event (held at the Orange County Convention Center) would include a night, over the past couple of years, as their event ran in September, where they would provide their attendees with an option to buy HHN tickets and they would buy out the park. That wont happen in 2019 as their show runs November 4 - 8. Agree with you that the first two to 4 Wednesdays will not be active. But, with the crowd levels being what they were last year I wouldnt put it past them. Plus we can expect a definite increase in prices as they have already announced an increase in scareactor pay.
  10. Starting dates were announced, today. HHN 29 will begin Sept 6 and run through Nov 2. "Select nights" @Legacy I can appreciate the PG13 HHN. I really would like to see improvement in the scarezones.
  11. I thought it was pretty cute and funny about the child. But, the main point isn't the child, its the direction of the event more and more towards the under 18 crowd. I love comedy horror. KK and things like Drag Me To Hell are awesome. But, houses? No, thank you. I'd prefer the adult oriented HHN.
  12. Critical analysis? (the title of this thread is speculation, head over to the review thread for analysis) that being said, here is my reason why to not do KK in HHN29. The scare zone was nothing more than a Selfie/Instagram zone. I am not exaggerating about seeing a family bring their 1 year old to the event to get pictures with clowns. There is absolutely nothing scary about it. The movie was never intended to be scary and there would be no scares at all in a tent. Just put a tent around the scarezone and that's your tent maze. Woo. There is nothing horror, at all, around it. At least Carnival Graveyard had enough OC to keep your eyes moving around. There's just no real further content to expand into a tent. The point of HHN is to immerse you into the IP, not just to show you the IP as you walk through. Poltergeist, Halloween....the mazes take you through the movie. In a KK tent, You'll just be watching the movie in the maze. And that music....at the volume a house runs....oh my no, please no. Stranger Things 2 Killer Klowns house. That's two wasted lines. It is not what I go to HHN for and it does nothing to earn the amount of money I spend on tickets. This is how you transform HHN into NSSHHN
  13. by using the movie Which kinda opens the door for what people are clamoring for. I agree with you full 100%. And if you add to this that WB is now looking like they are getting completely into the game, why would they continue to license stuff out to Universal for competition? (Excepting the fact that they could tell them it is ok in USO ONLY) https://www.wbstudiotour.com/horror-made-here but look at the haunts they had. IT was included, because, like you said, based on the Movie. Add to this the tweet from Aiello last night: The team is already well into #HHN29!! IP’s are being considered, original content is forming! What I can say is this year’s energy and feel will continue. We will always learn from our challenges creatively and build on the success of what worked! That does not excite me in the least. This year's energy and feel..... "This year's energy and feel will continue" Oh no. Great. So..... ST2 (this is a stone cold lock). Jerks are already clamoring for this to be a full on attraction at the park. Yikes. ("We are not making HHN family friendly" = We made more money this year than ever before. We are making this more family friendly than HHN28) I really, desperately, almost comically hope that Killer Klowns was a one and done. Please, no more. It was great. Let it go. But, they won't and it will be a 1 time walk through and done. Just like the scare zone. You know, the one where there was literally a 1 year old toddler getting pictures with the clowns. Another lame AoV show. On a stage. With a seated and disengaged audience. Great. Trick R Treat 3? Will it be a scarezone or will it suck up another great house location and waste more space? The Nun Halloween 2018 Please, I've already booked my vacation for next October (got a freaking awesome on site rate by booking so early) please get some good OC to balance the crap that is NSSHHN. I'll hold my anti stay-and-sceam rant until the end of next summer. I'm gonna throw-up in my hat. No way I'm buying a FFP pass for that garbage.
  14. The triplet in Dead Exposure was really cool. I caught on to the two puppets on the second run. It was awesome.
  15. There was nothing on the rail this past week. It was clearly empty and not missed. I could see the other end of the rail.
  16. I am certain we will see ST2 next year. With the amount of focus on that house, watching the Finnegan's pen open at 5:45 pm on Wednesday night and watching the hundreds of people flow out of pen 1 with almost ALL of them making the left turn to head to ST, and then pen 2 opening a few minutes later and hundreds more doing the same thing.... I haven't seen that much focus on a single property, before. That and with all of the merch for ST flying off the shelves like it did, I can't see them not doing part two next year.I was amazed with the design of Poltergeist, the monsters, the flying witch in Scary Tales, it was so much fun.The real letdown was the scare zones. Chucky zone was not scary and was silly and a (semi weak) heckling show, Killer Klownz - for all its wonderful aesthetics - was fun for all of 5 minutes, once you saw Vamp 85 sing Thriller once, it was pretty much enough. The Harvest was my second favorite, those stilt walkers were really cool, but Twisted Traditions was the only one I found to be of HHN quality. The other major letdown was AoV. Fun story, Good music selection, good light show, fun energetic dancers, laser fingers - excellent, slack line dancers - really cool, but that crowd engagement tho. Do the wave? Do the robot? Go in slow motion? We just felt no energy in the crowd. Maybe because we are all seated? But, whatever I do, I will never again assume that something is a prop and not a scareactor. We were going through Halloween 4 and I thought Mike was real and the Jamie standing next to him was fake and (for whatever alcohol induced moronic impulse control problem) I was going to touch her red nose and she jumped out at me. I quickly and profusely apologized and she gave me a nod realizing I thought she was a prop. Don't touch the actors folks.Earlier in the event run was there something on the rail at the end of Scary Tales that ran towards you that was removed? In each of my passes there was not a prop in that area.
  17. There is a spot in Hollywood where it meets Hello Kitty where the house entrance for whatever is in Shrek is located where the curb does a little S and moves. Almost killed my GF a couple years ago. Last year, I came out of the bathrooms by FFL and in the darkness missed the curb and landed on both knees. Was really, really, nice. Be careful out there!
  18. Guys, Microsoft holds their annual Ignite event in Orlando around this time at the convention center. For the past couple of years they have bought out USF on the last night of their conference and conference attendees are afforded an opportunity to purchase tickets to this event through the Ignite conference. This year it was Thursday the 27th for their night in USF
  19. Apparently, people think that because it does not smell like cig smoke that it is ok to just use them anywhere. This is not limited to HHN either. It seems to be in all walks of life. I don't get it either.
  20. Vin Diesel in Pitch Black confirmed for HHN29! Just a maze of black hallways that then feeds you into the F&F ride where the horror intensifies!
  21. I cant stand the characterization that if you drink you're going to be an asshole. It's even dumber to say that someone on marijuana would act like that. I enjoy going out and having a good pregame strategy and I enjoy the help out of being on vacation. If I had access and could I'd be as stoned as I could possibly get and I've NEVER been out of control on marijuana. There have been occassions throughout my life when I've lost control on alcohol but it wont happen at USF because I'm an adult. Do some people get out of control? Sure. But this is why I wish USF would take full hand prints and ban the people who cant handle themselves.
  22. I can't find the online HHN tribute store yet. Only the Universal site that has been up already for a few days and only has the 33 items that were listed a week ago. If anyone sees the online tribute store appear please link it?
