  1. So I have been thinking about this topic for a while and finally decided to make the thread. So the question is, has social media changed HHN? The answer is yes in my opinion. But the better question is has it changed it for better or worse? Let’s discuss it. Now for me, I have been posting on HHN forums since 2006, way back on IOACentral. Shoutout to anyone that was on there, but I have been on this forum since the beginning. All of us have posted what we have wanted to see. I’m not on the forums as much as I used to be, but I haven’t seen any ideas implemented for the actual event. Now, with social media I have. For some reason, back in 2006-2010 nobody talked about HHN. (Unless you were on the forums) but now on Facebook, there is a huge discussion page that people post regularly on. I didn’t see this thing blow up until 2015. So you might ask, what’s my evidence that social media has changed the event? Here it is. The year is 2015, HHN 25. Jack has a show and Chance is in it. She was awesome, I have wanted her to be an icon since 2007. But all the “lol omg” teens on Facebook spammed “Chance should be an icon.” And what happened in 2016.... Chance was an icon. 2016 we saw AOV for the first time. Once again the Facebook warriors screamed for them to come back. They were also saying B&T wasn’t funny and that show should go away. 2017- Farewell tour for B&T and AOV was back. We also got a great Trick R Treat scarezone. And again we got “TrT should come back and AOV is amazing and should be back” 2018- AOV is back and TrT is a house. Ok so most of the FB warriors scream about the stuff during/post the event. I haven’t gathered what their screams are yet but I’m sure it’s about bringing ST back, and let’s face it, it will be back for season 2. It was a huge selling point. So so after all my rambling, in my opinion These changes are bad. The “lol omg” Facebook fans have dumb ideas. They don’t know about the event and ask for stupid stuff. Maybe I’m just an old HHN vet that’s just grouchy. That is a high possibility. But their words are much louder than ours. Honestly I just want to see a great backstory and a great website and I’ll be happy. Thanks for reading my rant. I want to see what you guys think.
  2. This is the first year since 2011 that I couldn’t attend EP. lots of emotions seeing all my friends posting about it on all social media. Normally I hate any type of spoilers but I read a few reviews already. Saw 1 house list. I’ve heard good and bad things. But honestly I’m not making any assumptions until Friday night. On paper, the event looks amazing. But I guess we will all find out soon enough!
  3. Side Note: I love Sleepaway Camp! Anyways, I think that the majority of fans of the event that are on the Facebook page are starting to realize that the Original houses are usually better. Not always though. For example in 2014 when we got the first Halloween house, it was the best that year.... But I am seeing more posts and speculation about the originals. I have a full post/thread I want to start about how social media has influenced and changed HHN as a whole, but this is not the place for that. But the more people talk about the originals the more we will see them. Of course there will always be IPs but maybe the number of them will eventually drop. Advertising. Something that Orlando did so well. And I truly miss it. They had the best websites, commercials, and billboards. Their marketing was too notch. But going back to what I was saying above, that’s one of the things that social media has changed about this event. The best build up/website they have done (in my opinion) was 2008. It was fantastic. But we haven’t seen anything like that in a long time. 2006 was fun and had cool animations/sound effects, 2007 had fun games to play, 2009 had that model of the theater they used. But since then? It’s sad not seeing commercials anymore, and billboards. I would always get hyped seeing them while driving to work. It made me so excited about the event. But I honestly would be happy with them doing a crazy good website again. Alright, rant over. I will save it for my post/thread.
  4. Do you mean were there spoiler posts last year? Or do you just want info about the EP? I went last year so I can help
  5. If it’s done right, yes. But I prefer the house to have a linear story. BoH didn’t do well for me. So we will see how I feel about it this year.
  6. Yeah BoH was pretty terrible. I’m pretty sure I put it at the bottom of my list last year. AvED was close behind it. Purge is definitely overdone. Not as overdone as TWD was but I’m ready for something new. I wish the Blumhouse House was a highlight to just 1 of their films that was released for the year. I said earlier in the thread that I like my houses to have a linear story and Chris called me out by saying I probably didn’t like Silver Screams and All Nite Die-In because they weren’t linear either. But I actually liked those houses, I’m a hypocrite. And I’m ok with that. PS- Hi Chris *tackles* Edit- here is my house ranking list from last year. I guess I did put HoB above AvED. Oh well, they were both bad lol 1. Scarecrow: The Reaping 2. Hive 3. American Horror Story 4. The Fallen 5. Dead Waters 6. Saw 7. The Shinning 8. Horrors of Blumhouse 9. Ash vs Evil Dead
  7. Last years Blumhouse House left a bad taste in my mouth so this one unfortunately is at the bottom of my list. Partially due to the fact that I like my houses to have a linear story. Not jumping from completely different movies. I’m hoping this surprises me though. TFP could have some awesome sets with close quarters and great masks.
  8. I like my blood splatter shirts, but only because I have got one every year since 2006. But honestly I just want a nice large event logo on the front with the Houses on the back. I don’t like that small logo like last years shirt.
  9. Well back in 2008 there was plenty of speculation throughout the year. Specially with the amazing website we had. That built up the excitement. Honestly they don’t do websites anymore because of all the stupid people on Facebook that post “omg lol how much are tickets this year lol” because they are too dumb to look at the website. And apparently the old websites were too hard for them to navigate and find the information they were looking for.
  10. As this year starts to get closer I’m becoming more excited. We are less than a month away! I know this is off topic from what was previously stated but this new “social media” age we are in, I don’t like it. I don’t like the random announcements throughout the year. I honestly miss getting the whole event announced like now. Not knowing what the event will have until August builds the hype more for me. Think of it like this. If you start getting Christmas presents in September to open, it’s not gonna be as exciting. You get to Christmas and only have 1 or 2 presents to open. That’s what it feels like to me. Anyone else have any thoughts about this?
  11. This sounds amazing! I hope they do a ball drop, I imagine if it’s more frequent than just midnight I would assume they would do it once per set (45 min) as for Chucky, I wish they would do an insult emporium like they had in Hollywood a few years ago, but it seems like people get too offended nowadays. If you look in their generL direction they are offended.
  12. I think this will be the visually stunning house of the event. Nothing more honestly. But that’s ok.
  13. I’m really excited about this house. I love torture/gore houses. 2006’s RUN: Hostile Territory was awesome. The most recent RUN was meh. But I think this will be more geared towards that 2006 house, at least that’s what I’m hoping for. I have said that Slaughter Sinema will most likely be my Number 1 house, but this has the potential to be my number 1 as well. So far the announcements have been great.
  14. So I love this concert. I love 80s B-Movies. A majority of my horror movie collection are low budget 80s. I have a feeling this house will be a mix of Leave it to Cleaver and HR Bloodengutz Presents: Holidays of Horror. And if I’m correct this house will probably be my number 1 of the year
  15. Oh Nights of Ni you are just and fair, and we will return with a shrubbery. Lol im loving all these original house concepts. I’m hoping the house starts off with the meteor that hit earth and then as we progress through the house it continues to grow as time passes. This house has a lot of potential to have very surprising scares. I’m looking forward to it!
  16. If this is true I will be pretty sad. Hollywood got the better deal. Never saw HDD but heard it was meh. And Purge... loved the scarezone. Still loved it when the brought it back a 2nd time. But the house was meh. And now I’m just sick of it. I like new things, hate repeats.
  17. Suspiria Would love to see Argento get some love at the event. Also Sleepaway Camp would be amazing. Although it is basically a rip off of F13th. Off topic: Hey guys! Haven't posted in a very long time. Just been a lurker for a while now. Glad to be back on the forums!
  18. Woah, haven't seen you post in a while lol although I haven't been on HNN since November
  19. Normally the staging area for the AP thing is at Animal Actors. So you will definitely have time to do all three. Because you go to the house right next to ET, then it exits right next to the next entrance. And that exits by the house by MIB which is where the 3rd entrance is. There won't be any lines so you could probably do all 3 and then have time to swing back and do them again before the major crowds get there.
  20. There is a special holding area just for AP's and their guests. They will be let into the 3 houses at 5:30. If you do Stay and Scream you will be directed to a different area, most likely Finnegans. So, if you don't have an AP you wont be admitted to the 3 houses early. You will only be able to start entering houses at 6 when HHN is officially open.
  21. Sadly I haven't been that excited about the event for the past 3 years, maybe 4. It seems like you want more and exciting announcements. But the funny thing is I don't really care about theses announcements. I felt like I was more hyped about the event when they had 1 big announcement. Maybe it was because I was in high school, and besides going to soccer practice/games I would sit on HHNVault and IOACentral talking about the event. It built the suspense, and that's what made it great. Don't get me wrong. For people spending tons of money, coming from out of state for the event, I understand wanting to hear what you have spent your money on. I believe they need to give Creative back most of the control of this event, and we would get amazing announcements. Now they just have people with social media degrees that probably do alright with general theme park stuff but when it comes to HHN there is a different skill set you need to keep all these crazy fans happy.
  22. So if they would have jumped on the AHS from the beginning of the show I would have welcomed a new house for each season. Because like you said, its different every season. As far as Ash Vs Evil Dead, I'm not excited at all. They classify it as a Comedy Horror Show...... If it was a horror comedy show I would be more excited. What I'm getting at is that they put the word "Comedy" before horror, meaning it is a comedy with horror elements. Not a big fan of the comedic houses, with the exception of H.R. Bloodengutz (because i was actually in that house) and Leave It To Cleaver. But to be far, both of those houses had very dark elements. They weren't in your face about the comedy. Both were gory houses. Now if AvED turns out to be a super gory house I will be pleasantly surprised and will probably enjoy it.
  23. They brought TWD back for 5 years. Every time it got announced i was more mad about it. The first year I liked it, but after that I fed up. It's one thing to bring back a house from like the early 2000's. Like if they did another All Nite Die-In or another Screamhouse, I would be ok with it. But to have TWD so many times was annoying. Dang you missed out on the 2007 Thing house. It was pretty good!
  24. To be honest, I don't care what/when they announce. I love the event and I will go every year. I don't see myself not going in the foreseeable future. In my post I said I missed when they didn't announce anything until August. It made me more hyped not knowing what to expect. Does anyone else feel that way? Every HHN facebook page is a bunch of people whining for an update. Really?
