  1. I was born in FL, but not a FL resident. My family lives in FL, but are all too scared to attend. Anyone have a link to a promo?
  2. Any suggestions on obtaining tickets for Nov. 1? I'm considering going back for closing night. I'd like to find a way to get around paying full price for admission.
  3. I have said this many time, they need to do a Treehouse of Horror zone.
  4. Any update on the show element to the scare zone? Did they ever replace the sacrifice, or at least allow the queen to go up there and bark?
  5. It takes a lot for me to go see a movie in theaters. I'm more into Oscar bait...but that's just me. I've been waiting for a good horror/suspense flick to come out. Still hasn't happened.
  6. The movie is taking a beating on Rotten Tomatoes. Not going to waste my time or money. Such bullshit Universal uses HHN for their shitty products. This house had great sets and a few good scares, but was an enormous misstep in marketing synergy.
  7. If I had not seen the sacrifice at Bayou, I likely would have put it below Maskerade. The performance was so well done and set off all the scareactors in the zone. It added so much to the area and concept.
  8. We are the robots....We are the robots...
  9. Yes Halloween did a great job...except express couldn't really see it. I stood in front of the house twice for the full 9 minute cycle to catch the sequence. Towards the end, Universal's ops goons starting directing us toward the house. I would not count Giggle's images as a pre show. It's just pictures of clowns with the house logo. Zero contribution to the context of the story. Honestly, videos are not hard to make now-days and they already have the costumes. The only true cost is TVs/Projection screens, which a major media conglomerate should have no trouble obtaining.
  10. Pre show elements are the most important aspect missing from this year's event. People are waiting up to two hours to go in these houses. Give them a pre show!
  11. Seriously. At least give us a behind the scenes look while waiting in the queue.
  12. Yes I am referring to Cedar Fair's concept. At their haunts, there is an express style pass called the skeleton key. In addition to skipping the line, there is an extra pre-show room where characters give you the back story to the maze. I'm considering going to King's Dominion this month. I'll def be buying the skeleton key pass and will report back. If they really cared about the houses, they'd care about knowing the back story.
  13. Always thought they should add some context to the story within the queues. It can only add to the experience; whether it's audio, visual, or simple imagery. I would love for HHN to use the skeleton key concept for us die hards next year.
  14. Right, burnt walkers. I'm referring to the effect mentioned in the press releases regarding smoking walkers simulating the effect they are burning.
  15. Funny, my first HHN house was Gothic. The time I ever heard of the event was Islands of Fear and the first back story I ever read for a HHN house was Screamhouse.
  16. Highly disagree with the author stating Roanoke and Giggles are the stand out original houses, and Walking Dead and AvP are some of the best houses in HHN history. AvP is up there for me, but definitely not TWD. If I wrote this, I would have said Dollhouse is the standout original house with Halloween and AvP being some of the best IP houses ever. Also worth noting there's not a single mention of AWIL among the IP discussion, nor Gothic or Dead End for present era original content.
  17. There is one *burnt* walker. Was the decision to pull them due to the fire alarm issues on employee preview night?
  18. This makes it very tempting to come back down before my RoF ticket expires!
  19. If you book a spot on both tours in one day, is it discounted or still $60 each tour?
  20. I'm a fan of the show and think it's alright. What I don't like about it is more on the creative design side rather than the IP side. A lot of the practical effects are not up to par. The house also has a weak beginning and ending. The only thing that saves this house from being the worst are the large environments and amount of scare actors. BTW, does anyone else find it strange the adverts for HHN 24 show burning walkers, yet there are none.

    JDW ' S reviews

I spent a good amount of time in Bayou the first two nights and thought the black to white scare actor ratio was equal.
  22. All those incidents relating to alcohol bring up the need for police presence. Really throws off the atmosphere when there are a ton of officers roaming around. Unfortunately, it seems necessary since people don't know how to act.
  23. I felt like this year was the goriest of the three I have attended. There's no correlation between gore and demographics. I do think there is one between sexual content and demographics, which hinders the adult atmosphere. Although I could argue the barker at FDTD and B&T clearly cross that line. Just for the sake of debate: what makes the consumption of alcohol different for HHN than it does at a NFL game? I believe it's about the same, and kids are just as likely to attend an NFL game. I enjoyed drinking at the event this year, but was put off by Universals uber stict policies and slack ass bar tenders. Also, I'm not an annoying drunk and remain a decent human being. I would never act obnoxious or disrespectful towards employees or patrons. The only way you can tell I'm intoxicated is when I snore while sleeping. Guess I wish everyone had the same tolerance I do.
