I don't think they had the usual pass through area last year that they've had forever. If you have JUST IOA I think you might be out of luck. If you have a park to park ticket, you take the Hogwards Train over and stay in Potterland. BUT it closes early...I think like 30min before Universal. So you can't stay at IOA and then take the train over when HHN starts. We got screwed by that one day last year.
Yikes...my plan was to ride Kong and Hulk a few times Friday afternoon, and enter HHN through Stay and Scream. If you're saying we have to exit IOA and enter HHN via main gates without Stay and Scream, I might consider shelling out the extra $ to get in via Hogwarts.
-
Off topic question...
If I have RoF and an admission pass to IOA, what's the procedure to enter HHN via Stay and Scream?
-
Following up...
I called guest service and they said hand held phone stabilizers are OK. When I asked if they could email me that in writing, they said no and it is 100% up to security.
So, *shrugs* ?

Just realized its unavailable while I'm there this year. Anyone think they might do a soft opening the weekend of Sept. 23?

I've never had any issues bringing my DSLR, Lenes, GoPro and Video Camera in either in a backpack, messenger bag, or just hanging on my shoulder. I've even brought in a monopod and I know others carry a compact/travel tri-pod as well.
We'll see what happens this year with the security setup they have now.
You do this during stay and scream or regular entry?

I saw someone last year that had what looked to be a horizontal tripod with no interaction with the ground. Didn't have a gyro like a steadycam, but it was on some weird mounted sliding bar.
BUT, as I've stated many times, if you're not doing Stay and Scream all bets are off with security. Some will let you through with a suitcase, others won't let you through with a change purse. You never know...
True. Last year I had to toss out cliff bars and energy chees. Security guard was being a real dick about it too.
Might just go go with a small iPhone tripod and use a stabilizer app.

Might want to call them to ask.
Thanks.

Can anyone answer my question about bringing an iPhone stabilizer in? Looks like a cross between a selfie stick and hand held tripod. Planning on filming with my phone in the scarezones.
-
Surprised to see people already ragging on the scarezones. How can you not like something you haven't seen or experienced yet?
Question: can I bring an iPhone steadicam stabilizer and detachable iPhone lense into HHN?

That TWD trailer makes me glad I stopped watching last year. Looks like more of the same aimless story telling of the last few years - I swear TWD doesn't need 16 episodes a season. There are far better TV shows to be paying attention to *cough* The Leftovers *cough*.

Anyone else see the post in the Hollywood forum? Apparently we are getting Jabbawoked this year...

I don't think I've ever watched Halloween II uncut in its entirety. Guess I'll have to check it out now.
Is this our parade building maze?

Given everything that has happened, do you guys think announcements are being pushed back for a while? The HHN Twitter account has been quiet but it seems like the Universal Orlando account is starting to become active again.
Guessing they're worried about confusing the general public. Would have been smart for them to have built the attraction in Orlando at the same time.

Dont think anyone knows for sure. Considering they pushed back Kong, I'd have to guess there's now a slight delay.
The HHN Twitter account was used yesterday to interact with a guest referencing Jack.

We need another major property to usurp it.
Do we though? TWD has added so many fans to HHN. Many people who started going for TWD are now going because they love the event. It's my opinion that, at this point, HHN could pull big attendance numbers without a single IP.
-
The only IP that has a huge following and hasn't taken place in a church (to my knowledge) is American Horror Story. Since each season has a different setting, it makes sense this would be the mega house. Hide the embarrassment known as TWD way back behind MIB, and we've got ourselves a decent HHN.

10% = early adapters. Rest of market will follow.

Ratings for The Walking Dead fell 10% this year. Everyone's starting to release its a pointless show with no end in sight.
I stopped watching it last year when I released how much material is left in the graphic novels - about another 7 seasons worth. Not wasting my time watching this garbage when there are so many better movies/television shows I have yet to see. I have friends who feel the same way, so I'm guessing this is the start of a fall out with the general public.
-
TWD is an unworthy IP. That's why it especially sucked last year. Seemed like creative was trying to give it a proper farewell with HHN24, and it back fired. Now we're at the point where fans don't want it, creative doesn't want it, and the general public are starting to get bored of it. Maybe this time TWD mega house will be done right: make it so bad there's no reason to have it back.

The Walking Dead has already been a mega house. Considering all TWD houses have been similar, it's pretty much a repeat.

So The People Under the Stairs wasn't based off the Wes Craven movie?
Oh right. Although I always forget if it was based on/inspired by, or a straight up IP.
-
I'll go ahead and list some originals considered to be highly regarded by creative or fans:
Dungeon of Terror
People Under The Stairs
Frightanic
Hotel Hell
Screamhouse
Hellgate
Ghost Town
Castle Vampyr
Nightingales
So I guess the question is: Does our requel feature an icon?
-
Ghostbusters would be a "returning" IP for the park.
