  1. I like Roanoke a lot more than TWD. Roanoke has its issues and still needs to get into the groove, but it's different. TWD is basically a repeat of what we've had for two prior years, but bigger. And walkers are zombies no matter what you call them, and zombies have been around for a very long time. Even if the actors were on point, the house would just be nothing new. Roanoke has a lot more room to grow.

Couldn't agree more. Personally, I prefer Roanoke over FDTD, Giggles, and Dracula as well. Something about the sets, senses, and story ranks it above all of those.

  2. This is a topic of much contemplation for me. I'm not trying to sound like a prick, but, she CHOSE to go to the event and she has to live with the consequences. To me, if there's a chance you're going to have that happen, it's unfair to everyone involved: the worker now has (to try) to help, your whole group has to deal with your panic attack and try to calm you down after leaving, the people behind you are now going to get held up as your situation is handled, the scare actor who did this to you probably feels QUITE guilty, and most of all, it's unfair to yourself! to put yourself through a massive panic attack isn't ok, your body does not need that stress, so to put yourself through that just so you can go with your friends is a terrible idea. This is coming from somebody who often has panic attacks and, from time to time, they are quite extreme (physical scares don't cause them, it's more of a mental thing for me.) BUT, there IS one group of people who should feel horrible for her having this panic attack and that group of people is her (neglecting) friend(s) that talked her into going to hhn, because I guarantee it wasn't her idea in the first place.

All I'm saying is, if I were you, I wouldn't feel bad at all (though I understand why you do.) I would simply have been very judgmental of the people she chose as friends? I for one can say that if my friends brought somewhere, knowing that it was likely I'd have panic, they wouldn't be my friends much longer. Sorry for the rant, but this is a common thing that happens at hhn and it aggravates me.

The girl appeared to be with her boyfriend who nervously smiled during the incident. Seemed like he wasn't sure whether to laugh about it or apologize profusely.

When I laughed about it at first, my girlfriend pointed out how she def did not look OK and maybe it was severe. Indeed it was because we saw her afterwards outside the house trying to pull herself together.

  3. One thing I wanted to bring up about this year: what's up with the scare actors wearing visible ear plugs? I get it's loud in there, but Universal could provide them with ones that don't stick out. I happen to use Doc's for playing music/going to concerts. These are clear and do not stand out; unless I forget to wash them the weekend after Bonnaroo.

  4. My question with this house is what is the point of the egg room? There is a half assed animatronic scare and that's it. Is there a scareactor in there somewhere that I've missed multiple times or is it supposed to be a transition room?

I didn't see any scare actors in there and def agree with the half assed facehugger. The detailed eggs are very cool though. I think it's suppose to be a transition room.

  5. Probably the greatest house they've ever designed, but absolutely no intensity. It's really a bummer. I left the house impossibly disappointed after my first run Friday night because of the severe lack of scares. Saturday was much better, however it still wasn't all too impressive scare wise. If the actors really find their groove soon, this will definitely be the best house at the event. But as of now, they need a ton of improvement. I've heard there have been technical difficulties so far with the house. Can anyone confirm?

I disagree with the lack of intensity. Both of my visits were very intense and made me want to get the hell out of there.

  6. Both times I went through I never got to see the Laurie couch scene play out. I was really upset and wanted to see what happened but I was being herded through the house. I didn't get to fully appreciate that room. I'll be going back so maybe I'll be able to catch it.

I slowed down to a crawl both times to make sure I saw it. It's pretty cool.

I completely missed the finale the first time through. That's because my girlfriend and I ended up running out of the house since the scareactors kept getting us back to back to back! My second walk through, I slowed down and barely caught it due to the attendant trying to hurry me along. Really wish they'd ease up on the conga lines.

  7. After the first two nights, the waits were about the same. Max times I saw are listed in parentheses. Dracula is the least busy simply due to its location. Should have a much longer wait for a sound stage house.

    1. TWD (75-90 min)

    2. AvP (45-75 min)

    3. Halloween (45-75 min)

    4. G&G (45-60 min)

    5. FDTD (45 min)

    6. Roanoke (30 min)

    7. Dollhouse (30 min)

    8. Dracula (30 min)

Have they been using the flat panel wait time displays? I hoped they could change the background for HHN.

They had a specialized wait display for HHN. Looked like a giant flat screen TV turned vertical. There were several spread through out the park.

  8. I was entering Roanoke on Friday night when I noticed the cast change. Decided to stop and let others pass by for the next 5 minutes. Ended up with a decent amount of scares. Saturday I went through without a cast change and was on the receiving end of even more scares.

The actor dressed as the bush was one of the biggest scares I received all weekend. The headless corpse was my girlfriend's biggest scare.

  9. On Friday night before the tombstone scene, a girl was having a massive panic attack next to the attendant. The staff member and girl's boyfriend were both trying to help her use the chicken exit, but she was trembling and crying so hard she couldn't move. I felt extremely bad for her. Yeah, it is suppose to be terrifying but in a fun way. This girl was clearly not having fun.

  10. I'm a huge fan of the original film, and this house did every second of it justice. The entire experience starts off strong and never lets up.

During my run through on Saturday, they added a Michael Myers outside the house. Once you thought it was over, he popped out behind a fence and gave you one last jump.

  11. Gotta disagree on Roanoke. Thought it was one of the many highlights this year.

You also gave Halloween a 9/10 because of the projection screen being broken?

Oh, and about the Boogeyman house...isn't Halloween technically a house based on the boogeyman?

  12. This house was nothing short of amazing! The aliens look really good and the predators are huge!

Two things I thought were in the house, but didn't notice: a chest buster and the alien queen. Weren't these suppose to be here, or am I missing something?

Can't wait to hit this one again tonight!!
