  1. I got incredibly stoned before going in 2013.  First house we hit was AWiL and it was insane. Not only was I disoriented, but felt anxious due to the mood and atmosphere of that house. I accidentally ran into the people in front of us due to the scares (apologies to those fans). I found it to be a lot of fun and a much different experience than going through the houses sober/tipsy.

Im also considering bringing a pen with me this year to the event. I noticed lot of people had those at Hollywood’s event when I attended in 2016, and guests would hit pens in my room as I was scare acting at the event in Orlando last year - it was dark with lots of fog.

Does anyone have have any advice/tips for bringing and using a pen at HHN?

Forget "Blumhouse of Horrors" for a second... the bigger question is... why haven't they announced the 4 original houses yet? I mean, come on... 22 days until the event. Basically 3 weeks until it begins.... and 5 houses left to announce (2 for Hollywood)...

Of course Knotts still has 5 houses to announce as well, but they at least announced their "reveal event" would be August 31st (due to having to announce their new coaster opening next year)

Aren't our originals typically last? If Blumhouse was held up, the originals would be too.

Ive always told my wife that JC is the only celeb I would be all fan boy about. Dude is a legend.

Side note... Barcelona is my favorite city on the planet!

     Couldn't agree more about Barcelona.

    Going back to our topic...

Still surprised Blumhouse hasn't been announced yet. I'm starting to think there's a reason for the delay. Perhaps something changed and we have more than Sinister, Purge, and Insidious in the house.

Also in non-HHN news... anyone see that John Carpenter is touring this fall? I WILL be in Chicago to see him play!

You're going to have a blast! I saw him in Barcelona last year and it was amazing. Highly recommend catching his live show.

usually theres 8 or 10 rooms in a house, 15 for a uber house. you can just follow my and wows route and write a short description of each room. if you wanna be realistic and wanna waste a lot of time then the number of pages for a really detailed house will be 40 to 60 pages. i recomened to write a short description so not to hurt your hand for typing too much lol. also what house are you doing?

Thanks for the tips.  I have an IP I want to write a spec treatment for, as well as an original concept. Don't want to say too much until I get the ball rolling - would rather share after it's said and done.

The 3% were right. Absolutely terrible movie.

I finally get to disagree with you on something!!

It Follows has a great original premise, excellent atmosphere and suspense, and the soundtrack is badass. The only part of the film I dislike is the pool scene, which wasn't the original ending.

I really wish the earlier events were better documented. Sure, we have written stuff, but not much video. I would have been 10 years old and across the country during HHN 16, so I would never have been able to go myself.

Which is why we loved the websites/marketing so much. Even if you didn't go, you got to experience the event in a sense. The HHN 18 website scared the hell out of me.

While I'm as frustrated with lack of info as everyone on here. Think about it from a business aspect. Each year the event grows and continues to make more money. If you were Bill Davis you'd be a fool to change it up. In his eyes (and the rest of the board) marketing is killing it year in and year out.

The definition of marketing is "the process or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service"

    And cousin business is booming.

Believe me, I know. And for the record, I'm not advocating either way. I'm just telling it like it is.

All I can contribute to the debate is my own personal experience, which is this: I became obsessed with this event more than a decade before ever attending because of the intricate story telling and elaborate website design Universal used to create for HHN.  Without it, I would have never gone - let alone be working the event this year.

Another thing Marketing fails to consider is that perception affects outcome. Lots of us are going into this event lukewarm at best. If you have a perception a product will suck it's going to negatively impact your enjoyment.

Marketing doesn't care about us, man.

Majority of event goers will find out about the event in August when everything is announced.

It's been the same story for years now: marketing sucks, and creative should take over the website and hype up the reveal. They've heard us complain, and nothing has changed.

For me one of the biggest problems with horror nights that has always ruined the mood, is the ending of rides, Mummy works because it ends with Brendan Friaser getting killer, but all of the others are too happy. For me the biggest offenders are gringots and transformers. I wonder how much it would cost to make an alternate last screen, like in Gringots have Voldy kill Harry, and then in transformers, have it end with Megstron beheading Optimus. Just something to keep the horror alive even on attractions.

As a fan of the Simpsons, I've always wanted the Treehouse of Horror overlay. Or, just anything involving Treehouse of Horror in that section of the park.

Congrats! A word of advice--anything that happens backstage is confidential for the most part. Nobody is outright looking for people to slip, but you never know what might be frowned upon. Hence why I do not peep about anything work-related anywhere ;)

Noted. Thanks for the heads up.

i think the here's johnny room will be a boo hole in a door

Agreed. Actor hits trigger, pops out, mouths "HERE'S JOHNNY" to Nicholson's dialogue from the film.

  13. After watching the film, I have to wonder what the ending will be.

The best possible ending IMO is the frozen hedge maze. Have a few Jacks chasing you around, until you reach frozen Jack - he still manages to lunge out at you one last time.

However, the movie ends with the psychological twist of the July 4th, 1921 photo. The scene is iconic and takes the story to a whole new level.  Can't imagine creative wanting to leave it out.

Per some of my regular scareactor friends, the 'outside' auditions are booked up because they changed the way that returning TMs signed up for theirs and those spots ran out quicker than usual. So now people who would usually go to those internal auditions are now having to snag these spots.

It took me a couple of rounds to score a spot last year, too. (I didn't end up getting picked, either)

Sorry to hear you weren't picked. Based on last year, are they going to have auditions every two weeks for a while? I have a performance July 11th, so I can't sign up for that day.

It's been a bummer trying to get an audition since two weeks ago I was in NYC and logged on too late. Then I had to schedule off work the 27th in case I did get a spot - only to get nothing. I managed to get in the stand by line before it closed, so we'll see.

  15. Question for scareactors: is it always nearly impossible to get an audition spot? Universal said auditions open online for June 27th today at 4 PM. I refresh and refresh only to find nothing - UNTIL 4:31 a message appears saying audition is at capacity. So frustrating.
