Just got word that Orientation will begin Tuesday August 14 through Saturday August 18.

^welp.... that counts me out. Because they changed their dates from what they said during the audition interview, I got f**ked over by them. The ONLY day I am available is August 14th (which ironically would also be my callback date for WB :ninja:) & MAYBE the 15th. However the 16th-19th, I'll be in Anaheim Thursday-Sunday for Power Morphicon (I have a $300 ticket & i'm not missing out on my 25th anniversary Power Ranger nerdiness :chainsaw::P)

But seriously though... they really need to get their act together with this event. Its so unrealistic that its sadly comical at this point.

  2. Considering "scare academy" is in less than 3 weeks, I've pretty much given up hope on being cast at this point. It really is a joke. Just look at the event's lack of announcements. We had 2 mazes "leaked"/"confirmed" due to marketing. I remember last year, they sent me the "All roles have been filled, but it doesn't mean you're not cast. We're always casting during the event" BS email exactly 16 days before the event started.

The worst part about this whole thing & their way of doing casting is that BOTH Orlando & Singapore had their events cast by June.

  3. The ticket price is seriously not that high. I don't know why you expect it to be practically free. You are expecting & wanting way too much, not to mention failing with your logic by comparing the theme park haunts. In case you missed it, LA Haunted Hayride is the shittiest event in the area, yet they charge $30 & up for the crappiest quality... But hey, even that keeps returning year after year. The difference... WB has a better team & a bigger budget. And considering they were charging nearly the same amount (or a little less) last year without going full haunt, they will be just fine. If you don't want to cough up the $$$, someone else will.

Oh & btw, No, HHN didn't do it right. Their first year they killed one of their scareactors.

  4. So I was able to go up to the park for a bit today, yay for Passholder bonus days! Anyway, here is a quick update..

    SS29 (Stranger Things)

^from what it looked like through the green mesh fence, they were creating a cement ramp/pathway for the queue

    SS747 AREA (Poltergeist)

    YzNUWmI.jpg

^Sorry for the shitty quality... the sun was really hot/bright today & the tram didn't pass by. So best I could get unfortunately.

    TERROR TRAM

    ZjFTvwW.jpg

    rngJA5z.jpg

^Construction has commenced for the Terror Tram up at War of the Worlds. And the tram pick up area now has its wall.

I will be back at the park next sunday. HOPEFULLY, something will have been announced and/or there will be a lot more progress.

  5. You do realize that the haunt itself IS the exclusive opportunity. And you're getting more than only 3 mazes. You should be grateful & thankful WB is providing this new alternative to the other haunts. And guess what? The more successful, the more they will be inclined to do because the higher ups that control their budget see that it was worth it.

Again, the regular studio tour doesn't exist to cater to locals, its for the tourists who are in awe of the Hollywood set/backlot life. So the price is very reasonable for this event. If you expect to pay $10, expect shitty quality & a one-and-done event.

    "Scary Tales: Deadly Ever After"

The Wicked Witch is the primary villain this year... and things get dark...

One would hope that this ties into the previous Scary Tales plot where the Evil Queen had her (blind) scribes rewrite the fairy tales. Especially since one of the scenes was the "Blood Stained Road" for Wizard of Oz. Then of course there is also the Path of the Wicked scarezone that year too.

As I said, hopefully they actually take the time to do this right. Also, with it being in a soundstage = the return of the flying monkeys!

@WESKER69 I have to admit I was also pretty saddened about the leaked photo, I at least wanted some big announcements made at Scare LA or have like a week long announcement session, I honestly still have no freaking clue how that could've gotten out

Oh god... that is NOT at all what I was referring to. Ugh.. the ONLY thing sad about the photo (which isn't exactly something to be considered "leaked" since it is not an official promo photo/ad from Universal), is that it confirmed "Halloween 4" is actually happening. THAT is what you should be saddened by.

Considering that the event starts in 39 days, they need to get their ass in gear with announcements since they have 4 mazes, 1 scarezone (2 technically), show, & terror tram to (officially) announce. Orlando only has 5 houses left to announce 2 originals & 3 IPs. Hollywood is A LOT further behind. I'd love to know what prevented them from making an announcement at MSS (besides the obvious c0ck-blocking from WB).

In regards to say- Poltergeist, it is OWNED by Warner Bros... They could've EASILY pulled it from HHN due to one simple minor little detail when it comes to using other people's IPs. All they'd have to say is that it does not live up to standards and/or expectations, which damages the brand. This is an actual loophole when it comes to contracts. When its all said & done, it comes down to $$$$$.

Also.... "leaks" have been happening for HHN for the past several years now, it is nothing new. No i'm not referring to the rumored maze line-up "leaks". I'm talking about unannounced maze leaks via commercial & other promo media. "SCREAM" was very clearly visible on the Publix HHN ticket standee that year before it was "Purged". Now they make the cardboard standees as basic as a pumpkin spice latte to avoid such incidents. One year, Burger King had their HHN cups/tray liners out too soon, again... hence the basic-ness. Of course, the best kind of leaks is either from Universal themselves mentioning both events will share an IP when one of those coasts hasn't made the announcement yet. And the classic european travel agencies mentioning certain details. Or certain people tied to specific IP's, like creator of Chucky, Don Mancini confirming on twitter that everyone's favorite killer doll would be at HHN last year. This is what happens when you deal with IPs and/or take 9 years to announce the shit. *ahem Hollywood*

  8. Oh good... so everyone else saw the hilarious (also sad sad unfortunate) confirmation pic as well. My expectations for this year have fallen even further. Hi HHN, you were supposed to be 2016 2.0, NOT 2017.... sigh..

ive personally never seen Halloween 4, I just assumed they were all garbage after Halloween 3

^They were, except for H20 & Resurrection since those 2 feature Jamie Lee Curtis. Plus Resurrection also lets us see Michael Myers kill Tyra Banks, so that's a plus even if the movie is pointless after the epic opening.

Murdy just stated in a Twitter Q&A that a scarezone called "Hells Harvest" will have chainsaw guys.  Sounds like it may be similar to "The Harvest" scarezone announced for Orlando, but maybe it'll be different.

Also, Murdy confirmed dates in November for HHN.

There is NO "maybe". It WILL be different. It is very very rare for Hollywood & Orlando to ever have a scarezone that is remotely similar. Last time that happened was 2014 & both were terrible. Also, there is a very very very good chance that "Hell's Harvest" is the official name for the Trick R Treat scarezone at the park entrance.

Murdy didn't need to confirm the dates, it was pretty much a given that the event would run until Nov 3rd like Orlando, especially considering Halloween falls on a wednesday. Besides, we've had November dates for the past few years now.

^In a shocking turn of events, "AFTERMATH" is back again, despite the Apocalypse Midway being under construction!

As you can see, "Chupacabra" did not return & no replacement for it.

I'll be back at the park on Tuesday, so I'll try to get another update if anything new has appeared.

  10. @DTH316 Keep in mind, the major difference between HHN, Knotts etc... and the new WB haunt is that they aren't catering to the masses. They are giving you an exclusive opportunity to "party on the backlot" & NOT have to deal with conga lines for mazes. Also, the event isn't trying to be a cheap haunt. To be fair, the price isn't that much different from their normal daytime Studio Tour... So I have no issue with the price.

  11. Its not exactly a screening of The Exorcist, but 8-10mins of the best scenes with "in theatre" effects. Basically.... Shrek 4D, but with The Exorcist

In other news, the advance ticket sales today have pretty much wiped out the "Loser Club VIP" ticket option. More might be available tomorrow, but we'll see. The price is $169

Regular ticket prices: $76-79 depending on the night you go.

I haven't taken anything @WESKER69 has said seriously since I first joined HNN forum.  Some of the worst commenting I have seen on a forum.

    Well thats your own stupidity.

yeah that's bullshit. They have their own offices near Downtown and have a first-look deal with Universal.

They have their main headquarters downtown, but they do have offices on the Warner Lot. Also "first look" means nothing more than "Universal gets to see it first & decide if they want to distribute it or not.

Five houses (so far?) outta nowhere is exciting, even if they are all IP.  Everyone is going to compare Exorcist and F&J to HHN of course, so that will be interesting.   Wouldn't it be interesting if WB got to create entirely unique kills for Freddy and Jason?

I am doubtful that WB has pulled IP from HHN Hollywood this year.  Universal is not going to sign a contract that remotely allows that, nor are they going to use an IP without permission.  I know IP has been dropped before at the last minute, but I cannot imagine that an IP that has already been advertised will get pulled.

Correction. They will only have 3 mazes, a Terror Tram, & a 4D experience. The Exorcist is NOT a maze. They will be showing roughly 8-10mins worth of the best scenes from the film & include special effects while you're watching it inside of a church.

Poltergeist still has not been announced. Whatever is in Waterworld hasn't been announced. Blumhouse hasn't been announced. So its not like any of those are advertised IPs... and could easily bite the bullet like Scream in Orlando.

They said there would be no conga lines and it'll be a guided tour

Correction. The ONLY maze that is "guided" will be the Conjuring because it will be with a paranormal investigator. Georgie will probably play more interactive role this time around rather than guide since they don't want a repeat of what they did before. The whole point of limited tickets is so they can pulse the line so each group can enjoy the maze.

  13. That's great that you're excited for it... but let's not overlook the fact that this was clearly a replacement scarezone.

If it was meant to happen, it would've been announced months ago along with the maze. This was a very lazy move.

All we need now is for Trick R Treat to be the Terror Tram & it will have joined the ranks of the groan worthy elite of overuse...

  14. As I've mentioned multiple times before... forget what you know or what you think you know. These are actual mazes like the other haunts have. This is not a guided tour event. The only tour aspect is the tram that takes you back to Freddy/Jason.

And they said they'd add more nights if things go well. You have to remember, this took a lot effort to get approved. The past 2 years were trial runs for higher up approval. This year is the real deal & they're thinking of the future.

They're not being cocky. They're being confident. You want cocky & arrogant, look to HHN...

In regards to Neibolt... aka IT.. they even stated that it served it's purpose which was to promote the movie & get you familiar with the world. It was never meant to be anything more. And for being just a PR stunt, it was good. This year the specifically state that the IT maze will be all new & not what we experienced last year.

Also... any & all discussion of WB's haunt should be in its thread, not this thread which is for HHN
