  1. Again, the event is NOT going to be selling tickets like HHN where they want the park at capacity. It will be limited like Disney does with their Halloween event. Which allows guests to enjoy the event without 5 hour waittimes.

Also, WB even said that the queue for the mazes will be part of the overall experience. They will be interactive. They're even going to have "scareactor plants" for the different experiences. Translation: That was not a random guest infront/behind you, that was a scareactor victim to add to the intensity. <---highlight

The queue for "IT" will be on the streets of Derry to immerse you into the environment even before you enter the maze itself.

  2. The reason why they can't have this heavily themed is due to it being used all day long for daytime production operations, so the tunnel is always filled with golf carts. Also, they tried fog back in 2014, but it kept setting off the smoke alarms.

Personally, I loved the "Toxic Tunnel" theme from last year because it worked for the location. However, black lights was my #1 thing that I said in my review that would've improved it greatly, so I'm glad this is being implemented. I still say they could find a way to use toXXic barrels (and hangy shit) for minimal themeing. In 2014, the first year for the tunnel... they had the ambulance on the backlot side of the tunnel as a prop.

unpopular opinion. i liked the saw maze, look as a saw fan i thought they did the scenes incredibly. sure it lacked scares but everything else was good [besides black halls].

As a fan of SAW, the maze sucked in every aspect. It was NOT on par with what they did back in 2009/2010. Even Orlando's SAW house back in 2009, which was plagued with issues due to its location & lack of A/C was better than what we got last year. The execution was terrible. The scares were lacking & the scareactor placement was awful. This was basically a "hey look at this trap from SAW 1, SAW 2, SAW 3 etc...). There is nothing more boring than watching people get killed (yes I know, I'm keeping it how its worded for my own amusement). Just like with almost everything at the event last year, SAW looked like it was thrown together last minute with little to no effort. The scenes were not incredible, unless you attach the words boring and/or forgettable.

The worst part about SAW was that the issues it had could've easily been fixed. The Murdy of 2009 is different from the Murdy of 2017.

  4. Via Murdy on Twitter:

    - LOCATION: Universal Blvd/entrance

    - No roll out displays like last year

    - A lot of street decor that can live in the park night/day on Universal Blvd

    - Flame tower is back (but might be more for TrT)

    - Scareactors: patchwork VooDoo dolls but more in the harvest festival, early folk art vane. Big, oversized heads.

Based on the classic 1982 film by director Tobe Hooper and producer Steven Spielberg, Poltergeist will take you inside the iconic ghost story that set the bar for paranormal thrillers ever since.

After moving to their new home in sunny Southern California, the Freeling family discovers that dreams can come true—and that nightmares can too…

One stormy night, their youngest daughter, Carol Anne, begins talking to strange, ghostly voices through a dead signal on the television set. When Carol Anne disappears, the family slowly comes to realize that she has been abducted by vengeful spirits occupying the spectral plane between the world of the living and the realm of the dead. What the Freeling family doesn’t know, is that their house was built over an old cemetery and they are in mortal danger!

  6. Hey @themazethinker I never said it wasn't happening because of fox. Fox was only associated with the remake genius. So before you get all high & mighty like you know what you're talking about, just remember Orlando lost "SCREAM" after it was completely built. And this new maze for Poltergeist is owned by Warner Bros. it was even the 3rd IP they mentioned during their panel. Due to IP contracts, yes... they could have pulled it from Universal IF they had really wanted to. nothing about this year's event is normal.

Also, notice how they don't use any actual footage from the film itself. Only the basic static tv gimmick. Seems odd to have an IP and not show anything from it for those who are unfamiliar with the movie. Oh and they don't even have the image of Carol-Anne infront of the tv. Gee.. i wonder why.

"No conga lines" could also mean slow moving lines, I don't think they mentioned it being an intimate or low capacity haunt during the Midsummer panel right?

Tickets will be limited for each night. Think of Mickey's Halloween Party where its only a __________ number of tickets sold. They don't want it packed full like HHN or an at capacity theme park. The no conga lines doesn't mean slow moving lines... other haunts do the same. Its called "pulsing". You let _____ number of people go inside. Wait _______ minutes before letting in the next group. It works out just fine.

And honestly, people willingly wait 2-3+hours for mazes and/or rides.

All casting emails have been sent so if you didn't get one you're not cast at this time.

Thats what I figured. Honestly, considering they were already doing current park employee scareactor emails, that pretty much was the nail in the "Not getting cast" coffin.

I’m sure my availability had something to do with it. How is the maze host job?

I had full availability, but I bet the fact that they changed orientation to the week I wasn't available screwed me over.

As far as maze host goes... you have to deal with the guests entering the queue & going through the maze. Its not a terrible gig.

I might be alone here, but I really am not too big of a fan of this years line up.

Why Halloween 4? Does anyone know?

I'm not exactly fapping over this year's event line-up so far. It seems pretty weak, but the only thing that redeemed last year for me were the scareactors.

And its obvious. So they can do Halloween 5 next year, 6 in 2020, H20 in 2021, & Resurrection in 2022..... 5 more years of Michael Myers!

Enter a pagan harvest festival where the dark spirit of Halloween was born! The streets are filled with strange bewitched dolls, brought to life through dark magic. This army of evil dolls are looking for the next victim for their human sacrifice…will it be you?

There’s been a terrible industrial accident deep inside an underground utility tunnel. The noxious vapors that were released have transformed the emergency workers into radioactive monsters, filled with an uncontrollable rage and hell-bent on our destruction!

The frightening characters from writer/director Michael Dougherty’s anthology horror film Trick 'R Treat have descended on the small Midwestern town of Warren Ohio during their annual Halloween celebrations. Lurking in the fog are vampires, werewolves, zombie school children and Sam, the vengeful spirit of Halloween who will stop at nothing to ensure his rules for the season are being upheld.

  15. Its true. It happens every year when dealing with IPs... and everyone is always "OMG! Someone is going to get fired! Universal is pissed! Etc etc etc etc"... But guess what? Nothing changes because Universal never learns. They insist on using IPs, then wait 1,000 years to announce it, but their own promo material (which has to be out at a certain time in order to promote the event) ends up making the announcement for them. Or there are the cases like "The Shining" last year with the travel agency.

Random Question:  I have a Gold Annual Pass for Universal Studios Hollywood, so when I visit the park prior to HHN do I need to leave the park and re-enter for HHN or can I stay in the park?  Also, with my Gold Pass I get free parking when I enter before 6:00pm so does that mean I can keep my car parked and leave at closing of HHN for no additional parking fees?

This is actually something to ask in the designated "TICKETS" thread... for future reference.

    - NO, per last year you do not have to leave the park/re-enter if you have an AP & an HHN ticket/FFP. There should be a designated podium like last year to scan your ticket & get an early entry wristband.

    - Parking is parking. Think about the regular daytime guests who might spend time in Citywalk after they leave the park when it "closes". They could be there for another 2-3 or more hours due to dinner and/or movie.
