Here's a screenshot of the Trick R Treat facade from the video. I figured out how they got this "backstage" shot. They were on the handi-cap/guest assistance shuttle bus to the lower lot. The drop-off/pick-up is right near the Spinosaur photo-op.
I believe Murdy mentioned "projections" on this facade (or maybe inside the maze itself. Can't remember).

Nothing has been confirmed for the panel yet. Its all just rumors/speculation. We just know that the Universal Monster maze will most likely be what is announced/discussed because Murdy has been wanting to do it for years.

I was hoping for shirt that says more houses than ever.
Is it possibly that they brought the original pumpkin from fright nights?
Again, this is NOT the event shirt, this is the Annual Passholder exclusive shirt. There is a difference. The tagline that is rumored/expected for Hollywood is "TRUE FEAR COMES FROM WITHIN", so expect something similar since there is no event icon, only the very loose 80s "theme".
Also, the original logo for Fright Fest was the classic universal monsters. The Chainsaw Pumpkin logo didn't debut until the following year for HHN 2 & 3.

It all depends on the haunt itself. Each haunt has a different type of audition. Mostly they want to see people with energy & can stay in character. Events like HHN type cast (you're tall/short, you'd fit this role), then you've got something like WB that still type cast, but they want people that have a stronger presence with whatever role they audition for. So it just depends what that particular haunt is looking for.

Hey guys can someone explain preview night to me? Are we allowed to invite friends or family on that evening? Outside of our normal comps....
No guests of anyone that is a scareactor. In the past, Universal Hollywood employees (non-scareactor/non-event staff) have been allowed to bring 1 guest (but I can't remember if they changed it to "no guest" like Orlando).
Empoylee Preview is exactly as it sounds, its a preview for Universal Hollywood employees to experience the event. No rides will be open, it is strictly the mazes/scarezones & Jabbawockeez ONLY. If you're a team member that works (Transformers, Mummy, or Simpsons), this would be your chance to experience the event unless you have an event night off & purchased a ticket (team members do not get into the event free like they do the normal daytime park).

Haven't seen the film, but I plan to.
You're not missing much. Its actually rather boring, then 5/6 ruin it further. Aside from that, you can watch it HERE!

^Now THAT is a very creative ride-overlay for a haunt.
But I'm not talking about a ride overlay, I'm talking about an actual bumper car INSIDE the house. Completely different than putting scareactors on a ride.

Can anyone post the "movie posters" for this one at a time?
You should be able to view all 3 posters on the site when you click "more details". The video is below the posters & text, so it shouldn't be covering anything. But here are the 3 posters (not sure why they weren't included in the initial thread post)

I’m curious if the pumpkin logo shirt will also be our house shirt for the year
More than likely not, since that is the AP shirt. But expect a similar design though judging from the lanyard. House shirt will probably have a pumpkin/dead vines frame on the back.

Ah okay. Thats what I figured. Yea, since Hollywood has Trick R Treat as well, they can sell a generic HHN shirt featuring Sam. Lets just hope its good, but I'm not going to hold my breath because IP shirts tend to be hit or miss.
-
Yes they sell hoodies haha... Fans begged for them for years & now they've been selling them since 2012 or 2013. Can't remember when the first year was. They're usually around $50-60. There is sometimes two different hoodie designs to choose from, but it depends on the year. Be prepared to buy more than one shirt
As far as that lanyard goes, I noticed something interesting... It says "Universal Studios HHN" instead of "Universal Orlando" OR "HHN 28". So it seems like this lanyard design might be sold on both coasts for the event. If not, i'll need to have one of these sent to me

Hm. Here's to hope Academy of Villains can keep such a big audience for a 30-minute show the whole event...
Jabbawockeez do just fine at HHN, last year being their best performance yet. They created a great themed show complete with a queue video/pre-show to entertain guests while they waited to be let into the theatre. It also helped set up the premise of the show as well. Hopefully they create something great this year too because last year's show got me to see it every night (unlike the first two years). As far as AoV is concerned, you should really look up their performance videos. Hell, even their first year at Orlando was top notch. Trust me, they'll be just fine. And a 30min high-energy dance show is not hard to do, nor keep the audience into it. Especially when you have amazing talent.

The hanging clown head for the facade is totally from the Troupe Macabre scarezone facade from HHN 17...

After seeing recent pics of Central Park's SZ construction, that jack-o-lantern looks very similar to some of the NEW scenic pumpkins. In a way, this shirt could probably be considered a "scarezone" shirt (something that has been severely lacking in merchandise options for several years now). It definitely gives one hope for decent merchandise.
I'm expecting Poltergeist, Stranger Things, Trick R Treat, Halloween 4 shirts as far as IPs are concerned. Maybe even Killer Klownz too. Did they have any Trick R Treat merch last year due to the scarezone?

From what i've heard, this scarezone is going to be a huge improvement over last year... I look forward to experiencing

So I recently found out some interesting info regarding this year's event. While we found out at the MSS panel that the one lady used to work for Dark Harbor, apparently, WB also was able to snag someone else. Don't remember the name of the guy, but he used to do scenic for HHN Hollywood, before it became cheap budget-cut black wall hell. This due is responsible for creating great set details for mazes, now he's at WB this year. It seems we should be seeing some great movie quality sets for this event (plus they even stated during the panel that they have the actual props/sets from these films to use as well)

There is no NY street... its only ever been one small area that has NY facade. And again, you can't say it hasn't been used when the flame tower took up residence there for the past several years (with scenic details for The Purge/Exterminatorz) & ALL of Hell-O-Ween's scenic roll-outs were located witin the area of the NY facade. They never stopped using the area for a scarezone. The area where cinnabon is located was still baker street, before there was Starbucks/TWD, there was a giant London mural across from it, so unless London is now located in NY, then no.
THIS particular scarezone location was ONLY absent last year. French Street featured the "Glow with the Purge" in 2016.. The ONLY reason why they didn't have a scarezone last year in this street was because of their budgetary incompetence due to the stupid RIP Tour option. Despite it not being an issue having a scarezone there in the past when the RIP (VIP) existed for the event, last year was just a lazy cop-out to not use the street by saying they "needed" it for RIP tour use..

Ended up going to the park yesterday (Thursday, August 16th, 2018). There really wasn't very much in the way of "NEW"... So here is a brief update...
HALLOWEEN 4
TWD
UNIVERSAL MONSTERS
^they've added dead vines to the castle tower
BACKLOT SIGN FRAMEWORK (Lower Lot)
STRANGER THINGS
^new doors cut into the side of the soundstage for the entrance/exit of the maze
HORRORS OF BLUMHOUSE 2.0
HOLLYWOOD HARRY'S TERROR TRAM
I'll probably end up back at the park sometime next week. Either Monday or Wednesday for another update.

I wonder how much they are going to recycle from Mask-A-Raid from 2014. God am I happy that we're finally getting the NY and French St. scare zones back
Sadly I'm expecting quite a bit unfortunately. However, since it is the classic monsters, MAYBE Murdy will give it the proper scenic love it deserves (maybe)
And technically... we never actually lost the NY facade scarezone. it was just combined with the entrance blvd.

For the Hunchback side of things...
In all seriousness, it'd be great to have an Esmeralda gypsy scareactor in this zone

So Murdy tweeted this morning...
"Once again the HHN panel is one week from today, Sunday Aug 26th from 1:15-2:45 @ScareLosAngeles I'm going to share a ton of behind the scenes pics and info for a maze I'm VERY, VERY EXCITED to bring to life...might even bring some SPECIAL GUESTS with me...wink, wink. Be there!"
Notice how he says "guests" instead of "guest", meaning more than one. What if his "special guests", are actually a few of the Classic Monster scareactors... specifically Dracula, Wolfman, & Frankenstein, since those 3 are in the key art for this maze.
