  1. What?... No drink at the Fangtasia bar? No game play in the Lost Boys Arcade? Thats the one thing I find interesting about the event's Carnival Circus scarezone/midway... we don't know the full details of its offerings. I wonder if they'll bring back the "IT VR school bus" again just to offer something else. I believe they mentioned live entertainment of some kind, maybe a DJ like last year too.
  2. Well I can assure you, if they cast the girl I saw as Harley/Harleen (or hell even Regan), she will be perfect. Her ability to snap between the two were flawless. Here's another big difference between other haunts and WB's... People actually sent in audition tapes! (no joke). Also, rumor has it, they might be looking at casting more people than originally planned. So while, we all know that Universal and other haunts like to go for the "At Capacity" route when it comes to tickets. I've heard the number for WB being around 3,000-ish. Which is NOT a lot of people for each night and allows you to fully enjoy your time there without waiting 5+ hours for one maze. They will be going all out with the "Nightmare of Camp Crystal Lake" terror tram, they will be fully utilizing the jungle set location to its full potential (it even has a "lake"). Also, it seems like The Conjuring will be completely different from what was presented last year. Actually, from what I heard, its apparently been said to forget anything/everything you heard/seen about last year's "trial run" because this year will be completely different and much bigger.
  3. The new pic posted in the construction thread showed off the ride sign for the bumper cars "KRAZY KRASH". The power line poles make me miss Twister... I've seen it done in a home haunt and it was pretty damn cool. It'd be great if they actually had a scareactor ( or two) in a bumper car driving around IF they have the space for it.
  4. Its true... I'm insulted by this post referring to people being insulted.. I always love how much haunts emphasize this when they only bumped up the house count by 1... it'd be a different story if it jumped from 6 or 7 to 10. "More scarezones than ever", again.. you added one extra scarezone, while the rest of the park is mostly devoid of monsters.
  5. If you attend HHN, then you already waste money on an over-priced haunt. Anyway, attended the auditions today for the event. A little similar to how HHN does their auditions, only much more efficient and professional. They do it like an actual studio casting for a film/tv production. The talent that I saw today was amazing. One girl pretty much was so on point for Harley Quinn/Harleen Quinzel, it was mind blowing. Then she also did an epic Regan from Exorcist. If she isn't cast, I will be shocked. The process they used was you had to choose from their list of characters they'd be featuring for the IPs you'll experience (yes, even Exorcist 4D will have scareactor talent). Each group of 6 people would be taken out to do a warm-up exercise to channel their character they were auditioning for. Since you'd possibly be asked to do a 2nd character, it was best to choose two. After that came the actual audition. Unlike HHN, they actually filmed the entire thing. Instead of a cone, they had a tri-fold wall. The casting director would have the people become their characters & then react to certain situations IN character. Then each person performed their character one by one, but were also asked to do other things as that character or another character. It was very efficient. They only had two days of auditions. This is not going to be a "meh" haunt. This will be a legit performance based event rather than the cliche "Boo & skadoo" tactic you see elsewhere.
  6. Last year, since it was their first official "test" to see if what they're doing this year could be done. They only sold roughly LESS than 1,000 tickets (something like 800 or so). Waiting for reviews to justify the price for an experience is not the best route to take (which is a very unfair way to judge something because while it might be "mind blowing" to some, others might think its total shit). It can sell out. And if you miss out on something great, you'll regret it. If you do it & it isn't "mind blowing" to you, at least you experienced something "NEW".
  7. Well it all depends on when you go & when you hit the different offerings. Considering the free Neibolt House experience in Hollywood last year to promote "IT" got up to 2+ hrs, i'd say expect the same like any other haunt or theme park attraction. Of course, there is always the "VIP" option which gives you one-time "front of the line". I'd suggest doing "Arkham Asylum" first, out of everything, THAT will have the longest waittime of the night. Then do either "IT" or "Conjuring". After you have those 3 mazes done, THEN do the "Nightmare on Camp Crystal Lake", which leaves you time to enjoy The Exorcist 4D, the Fangtasia bar, Carnival scarezone/entertainment & the Devil's Drop Tower ride.
  8. Damn.. they updated the site again & decreased the show count down to 3... Curious to see what they other two "experiences" will be.
  9. Again, the event is NOT going to be selling tickets like HHN where they want the park at capacity. It will be limited like Disney does with their Halloween event. Which allows guests to enjoy the event without 5 hour waittimes. Also, WB even said that the queue for the mazes will be part of the overall experience. They will be interactive. They're even going to have "scareactor plants" for the different experiences. Translation: That was not a random guest infront/behind you, that was a scareactor victim to add to the intensity. <---highlight The queue for "IT" will be on the streets of Derry to immerse you into the environment even before you enter the maze itself.
  10. Tickets will be limited for each night. Think of Mickey's Halloween Party where its only a __________ number of tickets sold. They don't want it packed full like HHN or an at capacity theme park. The no conga lines doesn't mean slow moving lines... other haunts do the same. Its called "pulsing". You let _____ number of people go inside. Wait _______ minutes before letting in the next group. It works out just fine. And honestly, people willingly wait 2-3+hours for mazes and/or rides.
  11. Its true. It happens every year when dealing with IPs... and everyone is always "OMG! Someone is going to get fired! Universal is pissed! Etc etc etc etc"... But guess what? Nothing changes because Universal never learns. They insist on using IPs, then wait 1,000 years to announce it, but their own promo material (which has to be out at a certain time in order to promote the event) ends up making the announcement for them. Or there are the cases like "The Shining" last year with the travel agency.
  12. Update from today (Tuesday, August 7th) SEWER OF SOULS (3D) The exterior details for this maze are really great! Its nice to see them make this much effort for a 3D maze.
  13. The ticket price is seriously not that high. I don't know why you expect it to be practically free. You are expecting & wanting way too much, not to mention failing with your logic by comparing the theme park haunts. In case you missed it, LA Haunted Hayride is the shittiest event in the area, yet they charge $30 & up for the crappiest quality... But hey, even that keeps returning year after year. The difference... WB has a better team & a bigger budget. And considering they were charging nearly the same amount (or a little less) last year without going full haunt, they will be just fine. If you don't want to cough up the $$$, someone else will. Oh & btw, No, HHN didn't do it right. Their first year they killed one of their scareactors.
  14. You do realize that the haunt itself IS the exclusive opportunity. And you're getting more than only 3 mazes. You should be grateful & thankful WB is providing this new alternative to the other haunts. And guess what? The more successful, the more they will be inclined to do because the higher ups that control their budget see that it was worth it. Again, the regular studio tour doesn't exist to cater to locals, its for the tourists who are in awe of the Hollywood set/backlot life. So the price is very reasonable for this event. If you expect to pay $10, expect shitty quality & a one-and-done event.
  15. One would hope that this ties into the previous Scary Tales plot where the Evil Queen had her (blind) scribes rewrite the fairy tales. Especially since one of the scenes was the "Blood Stained Road" for Wizard of Oz. Then of course there is also the Path of the Wicked scarezone that year too. As I said, hopefully they actually take the time to do this right. Also, with it being in a soundstage = the return of the flying monkeys!
  16. FRIGHT FEST 2018 WEBSITE <-------CLICK ^In a shocking turn of events, "AFTERMATH" is back again, despite the Apocalypse Midway being under construction! As you can see, "Chupacabra" did not return & no replacement for it. ^1 new scarezone location added this year. Maybe 2019 will see 8 scarezones! ^Surprisingly no "Tatsu" or "Drop of Doom" on the "frightful ride line-up" Here is a brief update from the park this past Friday, August 3rd, 2018. SPOOKY SPOOKY!!! RED'S REVENGE SEWER OF SOULS: 3D I'll be back at the park on Tuesday, so I'll try to get another update if anything new has appeared.
  17. @DTH316 Keep in mind, the major difference between HHN, Knotts etc... and the new WB haunt is that they aren't catering to the masses. They are giving you an exclusive opportunity to "party on the backlot" & NOT have to deal with conga lines for mazes. Also, the event isn't trying to be a cheap haunt. To be fair, the price isn't that much different from their normal daytime Studio Tour... So I have no issue with the price.
  18. Its not exactly a screening of The Exorcist, but 8-10mins of the best scenes with "in theatre" effects. Basically.... Shrek 4D, but with The Exorcist In other news, the advance ticket sales today have pretty much wiped out the "Loser Club VIP" ticket option. More might be available tomorrow, but we'll see. The price is $169 Regular ticket prices: $76-79 depending on the night you go.
  19. For the record.... the lady that was part of the panel. She used to help with Queen Mary's Dark Harbor. This isn't new territory for her. Also keep in mind, A LOT of the horror movies were filmed on the Warner Bros backlot. A LOT of them. They're going to utilize that.

  24. Location: Simpsons Plaza Theme: Circus Freaks/Clowns So this scarezone is actually not a new or an original concept of mine. It was actually me just wanting it to continue to be a tradition every year because for several years it did return year after year. Unfortunately, like all traditions at HHN Orlando (Parade, Bill & Ted, etc), they die.. "Midway of the Bizarre" was a scarezone that was located in "AMITY" for 7 years (1995-2001), then returned one last time in 2004 (The Boneyard -aka "Rockit Plaza"). You could say it DID return 2 more times from a certain point of view- 2007's Carnival of Carnage as a park-wide sz (unfortunately budget cuts & NLC drama hindered it) and then 2009's "Cirque Du Freak" in Kidzone Plaza/Hub (despite tied to an IP, it could be considered a throwback to MOTB). Officially by name, the scarezone has been done 8 times out of HHN's 28 year run. While I am all about variety & new content, having a staple scarezone that returns every year is always a fun throwback. And using an IP like "Cirque Du Freak", it allows you to tweak that traditional SZ here/there to keep it fresh. Now the unique thing about 2004's "MOTB" was that it utilized parade floats... those parade floats did not stay put the entire night because HHN brought back the parade that year. So the floats served two purposes- scarezone set pieces & parade entertainment. Definitely a fun way to honor two Pre-IOA HHN traditions. ^(The scarezone entrance in 2004)^ Hurry hurry hurry... Step right up.. Enter this way into the Midway of the Bizarre... Beware of the freaks and clowns lurking in the fog...
