  1. I did our employee preview night here in Hollywood and it was pretty disappointing. Of course it was just a dress rehearsal and a ton of elements were missing, but compared to previous preview nights, it was pretty bad... Well, besides Insidious which was phenomenal and Halloween also being very good. The only thing that's better in Hollywood are our masks and prosthetics. When I went to Orlando last year, the Walking Dead zombies and From Dusk Till Dawn culebras looked pretty bad, especially comparing it to the prosthetics Boneyard FX makes for our event. Even with the slightly lower quality masks you guys have, the facades, sets, and scare tactics are better executed no doubt.
  2. Thanks for posting such a great read! Loved how detailed you were while not spoiling much. I'm even more excited to fly down on September 30th!!!
  3. Damn I'm gonna be broke. I'm definitely buying the house shirt, hoodie, phone case, lanyard, mug, collectible Mini Jack figure and probably more. Plus I'm seriously considering dropping $300 on that Jack collectible. God damn it. Finally a good year of merch. Our merch in Hollywood this year is terrible so I guess I can focus on all this merch instead. =]
  4. Oops, sorry for posting it like that. Saw it on the IGN website and didn't thinking about it not being legible after pasting it.
  5. IGN: There is a Crimson Peak presence at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal in Orlando as well this year, right? Did you talk to the team there about a maze? Del Toro: We didn’t talk about the maze but we did talk about things that would be exclusive to Orlando like a make up effects and wardrobe exhibition. They’re going to have some of the wardrobe from the movie, which is quite beautiful and powerful. The movie has a level of visual and audio design of high caliber and beauty. They wanted to showcase some of the craftsmanship of the wardrobe and the displays and stuff like that.
  6. The line up sounds amazing, so ranking them is really tough but I'll give it a shot: 1.) Freddy vs Jason 2.) Jack Presents: 25 Years of M&M 3.) AWIL 4.) Body Collectors 5.) Insidious 6.) Asylum in Wonderland 7.) Run 8.) The Purge 9.) The Walking Dead 1.) HHN - Icons 2.) All Night Die In 3.) Psychoscarepy 4.) Evil's Roots 5.) Scary Tales
  7. Hold up, Harry Potter is confirmed to be open for HHN???!
  8. That's true, and I know I can't base my opinion about the maze as a whole just because I saw one mask. Regardless I'm sure I'll have fun. Last year, Giggles and Gore was the only dud during my walk throughs so with that track record I have 100% confidence A&D can execute this well.
  9. Not sure if anyone has confirmed it yet but is Michael Myers returning for this SZ? Either way, the modern movie line up seems pretty solid - Chucky, Tiffany, The Strangers, Purge Characters, Freddy and Jason.
  10. I was way more excited about this maze before seeing the picture of one of the costumes at the media preview. I think it's unique how each room may be themed differently depending on where the assassin is from, but the Japanese mask we were shown doesn't look scary at all. Don't get me wrong, the concept still sounds cool, I just really hope it's executed well so we actually feel like we're somewhat in danger. If not, this maze seems like it could be the dud of the bunch.
  11. Ahhhh that really sucks. I just want one clip that's maybe 5-6 seconds long in Freddy vs Jason so I may risk it since I've been waiting for this maze for 9 years. But thanks for the advice, besides that attempt I'll keep my phone in my pocket and just enjoy the event. In the photography tips thread, I've read people talking about using external flashes on their DSLRs, is that acceptable? That's the one thing that Hollywoods event doesn't allow at all. A flash goes off out in the scarezones and they're on you real quick. Sidenote: I can't wait for the coverage of today's media night!!!
  12. So last year I was testing out the slow mo recording on my iPhone during HHN last year in Hollywood and managed to get a few great clips of scares that utilized a strobe. If I were have my phone out in a maze in Orlando, would they immediately tell me to put it away or would it be fine as long as I don't have the flash on? If I were to have it out and someone said something, worst thing that could happen is they say put it away right? Or could I get kicked out of the maze?
  13. You guys think it's likely we'll see Eddie as the leader of the clownsaw drill team?
  14. Would you be willing to do one more version for the iPhone 6 with Jacks logo and the Monsters and mayhem writing slightly lower instead of the blue lines and then the featured maze properties like you already had above ? If not, even that original one resized is cool. Sorry for being so picky! XO lol
  15. Has anyone found out which mazes will be for each of the Unmasking the Horror tours? Already booked both on Oct. 3rd but I figure I should find out sooner than later. Lol
  16. I thought Hollywood came up with bad names but my god this is worse than our scarezones that end with a Z. Lol Regardless, the actual content of the zone sounds great and the banners alone have gotten me very excited.
  17. Body collectors have always been mentioned whenever I would dig up past discussions on this site so I'm so damn excited to finally come face to face with them. The setting, era, and characters mentioned sound fascinating so I'm really excited for this one. Since they are going after crazed patients, will these patients be fighting back since I've seen a few of you bring up the VS aspect? I know no one knows but what do you guys think? Will they primarily be victims already when entering a room or will there be aggressive interactions between the two groups? I feel like if there is a struggle between the collectors and the patients, the BC may not come off as intimidating enough.
  18. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm not trying to attack you for not being happy with the events line up but haven't you previously posted that you were done with the event and that you'd never be going again because of similar issues last year? Last year was my first year coming to Orlando's event and I rememember you saying the event wasn't the same and that you weren't gonna even waste your time posting on this site anymore. Correct me if I'm wrong , but that was you right? I know it's not just you, there are a handful of people that either continuously complain or say they're not going but I just was curious as to why you continue to follow the event to the extent you do if it doesn't make you happy and hasn't made you happy for a while now? Again, I know we're all passionate fans of HHN, but there's a difference between being passionate and being anti-everything after the "Glory days" of HHN (HHN 10 or whatever year you guys continue to praise).
  19. If the team worried about tying in every single attraction/scarezone/show, they'd be restricting themselves creatively. I can understand the desire to have a unified story or theme, but mazes and scarezones being connected would be hard to do. I personally would rather have more variety then for things like that to make sense time/location wise.
  20. Terrible or not, it helped me understand the effect and now I'm even more excited so thank you! Damn, this maze can be something really special.
  21. I've heard about the effect in Gothic where it looks like your looking down from a bridge of some sort, can someone explain that scene or what made it so great? Really looking forward to that if that's the scene they choose. Also, I've seen a video of Nightingales where the women pulls the soldiers upper half and he starts shooting because of that. Looked really cool. Since Jack is presenting the maze, does anyone have any guesses as to how the transitions will be or what the facade will be? Basically, what's the excuse that we'll be walking through the various themes and how many times do you think Jack will make an appearance? Will he be the only icon in the maze, and if so do you think he'll be scaring or just have a speaking role to welcome guests into the maze? Either way, this maze is one of my most anticipated! Can't wait to experience some of the fan favorites from previous years!
  22. Out of the 9 years I've attended HHNH, AWIL is in my top 3 favorite mazes of all time and from what everyone is saying, Orlando's version is the superior version. If that's true, I can't even imagine how awesome this maze will be. I can't believe how well the puppets move in the announcement video, it looks so damn real. What do you guys think the surprises will be ?
  23. If you have this for sell on any site Id definitely buy it! Looks great.
  24. Yeah, I could understand the disappointment but even if the maze was originally supposed to be based off of the movie and not the TV show, I feel like it would feel too similar to Halloween, just less scary. Regardless, the creative freedom the team has with Purge should make this last minute replacement not too hard to do with the time given. It'll be interesting to see the final product.
