  1. Last year was its own thing and A&D is always making improvements. Plus, what scares us and what we find entertaining is obviously quite subjective. I wouldn't say I'm a hater, though- I just think that what's scary about The Walking Dead is the reaction the characters have to the zombies and the suspense you feel. I even told my friends that watching the first episode of Season 3 was one of the worst decisions I made recently because it had me so on edge because of the suspense. When you remove that element of character reaactions and suspense and it's just the zombies, it's actually not as scary. Part of this suffers from Aiello's staunch committment to Romero-style zombies, which though great for street cred among diehards, doesn't really translate well into an intense experience. This is especially true if the zombies are expected to bear the burden of the scares - which, one can't argue that this is the truth for this house. I'm still going to give it a fair chance, though the video didn't do much to bolster my hopes, and I'm certainly not going to be bashing it to my friends that I'm going with as I don't want to ruin it for them.
  2. I wasn't sure what people meant by this one being a darker spiritual version of The In Between, but that picture clears it up pretty dang well. Interesting - not at all what I was expecting.
  3. Sounds like Walking Dead will be the meh house to me. I think some of us may have HHN amensia as that house was actually rather boring - including the whole end sequence. I've walked through airport terminals that were scarier than that house. I'm just not sure how much they can actually improve on the scares - though the set will be much better. Also consider the following: - Walking Dead was supposed to be the wow house for a lot of people (especially the GP) last year. - The GP was probably disappointed at how short and thrown together it looked and expressed it through surveys. - Thus, A&D feels compelled to make up for it by making a longer and more elaborate version (as seen already by the pictures they've shown). - Time spent on making it longer and more elaborate may have taken away time for well-planned scares (of which there were barely any last year as well) Thus, long and boring is the result.
  4. I've been debating this one a lot and I just want to repeat the sentiments that others have - this could be really good IF (and only if) the scareactors are allowed to be much more intense than they were last year. I've viewed some more videos from last year and thought about my two nights in the park, and I have to say the zombies were the most forgettable (and that's putting it nicely). However, this could be strong because of the cohesiveness and strong theming - making it more immersive. Honestly, looking back, it just wasn't that immersive seeing a civil war vampire and then a few minutes later seeing a female prisoner with a chainsaw. It just seemed TOO random. Also, I REALLY hope there is a liberal use of survivors. I went to XXI and XXII and don't recall seeing any survivors in scarezones. If there is a good attempt at acting and creating a scene in the scarezones this year (rather than just baddies walking around), I'll be dang happy.
  5. Bryan I absolutely love your photos! So amazing.
  6. Parkscope - at the one second mark, it sounds like "Closer"
  7. That is truly a great commercial. I actually LOLd at its brilliance.
  8. The press release on the Media Relations site does not list Walkers as one of the Legions. While we will be seeing Walkers I'm sure, I don't think they're going to be tied into The Iniquitus storyline.
  9. I'd love it if there was some kind of element where one of the Dark Legions could somehow win. If we could leave that night knowing that Vampires won or Prisoners based off some type of capture the flag element, that would be pretty epic. Also, I like the idea that we could somehow "bond" with the legions and buy merchandise related to our favorite legion. I'm sure they're making a killing at IOA with the house related merchandise in WWOHP that they saw an opportunity to do that with the street experience. Maybe this is how the victors are declared each night - by how much of their merchandise was purchased! Somehow, at the end of the event, I'm getting the feeling that The Iniquitus will be defeated by the Legions or whichever group sells the most merchandise "rules" the streets next year.
  10. I've got a feeling these creatures are going to very Orc-like.
  11. Where it says "first to rise from the cemetery" goes along well with the theming that we are starting to see in CP. I think there was discussion in one of the other threads that the cemetery will be the "home" for The Iniquitus.
  12. Venom's idea of the scarezone leading up to the house using the tank and the zombies (and maybe the horse from Nightingales too!) would be awesome. This would really up the immersive quality of the event. Has there ever been a combo of sz and house before?
  13. At first I thought all of the looking into the backgrounds was major speculation but Ross's link makes me even more eager to see how much TWD integration there's going to be this year. I have a feeling we will be seeing more than just a house around TWD.
  14. My first post - and I wanted to start by giving thanks. I went to HHN for the first time ever on Saturday 9/24 (Opening Weekend) and had pretty high expectations. For the most part, these were met completely and I owe most of it to some of the incredible scareactors. The one that stands out the most is George Washington in H.R. Bloodengutz. I broke away from the group of friends I was with in the President's Day room to search for the elusive red button. When I realized it wasn't there, I thought maybe pressing the black button on the timer on the desk would do something. Of course, now we all know that isn't so. I was distracted so much by this button and didn't think there would be any other scareactors in this room. I was wrong! I turned around and George Washington was running at me with his hatchet/axe. This image is now forever emblazoned into my mind as the ultimate moment from HHN. Another scareactor that deserves major props is one of Lady Luck's minions who was walking backwards in front of me staring me down. My natural response in this situation is to become sheepish and start speaking French. It wasn't a terrifying scare but it was a memorable moment that I'll also associate with my first trip. As far as consistent startles, I have to thank the "residents" of Acid Assault. I walk pretty fast so I was in front of my friends and had to turn around to talk to them. The scareactors in Acid Assault always noticed this so that every time I turned around, there was someone in my face. I don't remember all the moments but I did point and say "Awesome!" at the scareactors if they did a good job. If you saw a guy in a plaid shirt wearing a hat and pointing at you that night, it was probably me. Thanks for creating such a great experience for my first trip!
