  1. It's crowded for a Wednesday, but for today's standards for crowds it was very empty. FvJ/Insidious hit 75, nothing else got over 45. RUN and AWiL never made it past 30, and after the rush of people at opening, M&M stayed at 35 or less. I took my friend through all 9, including BC, RUN, and Purge a second time, Mummy, both shows, through Diagon, and stopped for food. One of the slowest days I've seen. Everyone going tonight trying to get into the park from 6-8 while they're doing the grand opening of the NBC Grill and Brew restaurant: have fun. LOL
  2. Wat. Maybe you missed some of them, but there's 8 Jack actors, plus the entrance and 2 finale rooms are devoted to him. In a house that's celebrating ALL of HHN's history, while still being hosted by Jack, I think that's a perfectly acceptable number.
  3. To be honest, pre 2010 I didn't pay much attention to the zones at all. So my best/worst zones are based off the past 6 years plus whatever I actually do remember from 05-09. -Zombie Gras (10) -Your Luck Has Run Out (11) -Face/Off (14) Also the scarezone in JP in 05 is another favorite. One of the first zones I've ever seen, people disguised as plants was the coolest thing ever to me lol
  4. This is all true and I agree. Sheer number of people in line plus express also inflates wait times. Insidious is a longer, dark, creepy house, and the line crawls because of it. RUN is fast paced and not very scary, so the line moves quickly. Ive gotten stopped for a solid minute in M&M several times and once in FvJ, so you're right about that one. However, my point with AWiL still stands. In 2013 it was that long, slow moving line because it was very popular and scary. I got held up behind people unwilling to move more times in that house than in any other house I've ever beeb in. However, this year it is NOT the case. There's been scares taken away, and it is not being viewed as popular or as well as 2013. When every single house still has a 15-75min line and this is a literal walkon, that tells me this house is not being received as well as they'd like when you compare it to the queues of 2013. I'd love to see poll ratings, see which houses are being viewed as best-worst on the whole. I'm willing to bet M&M, Insidious and FvJ are highest, RUN, TWD and honestly AWiL are lowest. Purge, BC, and AiW all seem to be very well received as well. TWD will have fans of the show/easy scares/first timers to back it up, but it seems to be the least liked TWD house ever. RUN is fun but for most people its just not that good.

    The Purge

This house is HUGE with the GP and usually gets just as packed as FvJ and Insidious. This honestly surprises me, and it's proving to be way more successful than Scream would've been imo. Most aren't looking for the whole package of a great house, just scares. And when the actors are on the ball, this house is very intense and will get people talking about it. When this comes back next year I won't be even slightly surprised, as we'll get a proper Purge house and it's insanely popular.

    Insidious

can't agree with that on the whole. The 4 scenes i mentioned are meh scare wise, but still work for plenty, and the house is by FAR the most popular/considered the scariest by most guests, with FvJ and M&M right behind it. The house gets more and more intense as it goes on, and especially with Cast B, delivers some powerful scares. If both casts were the same strength, and those 4 scenes I mentioned were reworked, this would be one of the most terrifying houses of all time. It's the lack of consistency that ruins it for me.
  7. Inspired by a thread on the Hollywood sign, what would you consider to be the best and worst houses and zones of all time? From my 11 year run of the event, my favorite houses (in no order after #1) are: 1. Nightmare on Elm Street: Dreamwalkers (07) [This is forever irrevocable for me. I was 11, and nothing has made me feel so terrified or threatened in my life, and I could never have the same feeling inside a haunted house again.] -Screamhouse: Resurrection (06) -Scary Tales: Once Upon A Nightmare (08) -Catacombs: Black Death Rising (10) -Hades: The Gates of Ruins (10) -Winter's Night: The Haunting of Hawthorn Cemetery (11) -Nightingales: Blood Prey (11) -Nevermore: The Madness of Poe (11) -An American Werewolf in London (13) -Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem (15) Scarezones: 1. 7 (11) 2. 20 Years of Fear (10) 3. Fractured Tales (08) 4.Grown Evil (11) 5. Evil's Roots (15) Worst houses: -The THING: Assimilation (07) [Yes, this is a fan favorite, but I did it once and at the time was not looking for sets/puppets etc., so when I received no scares I didn't like the house.] -Reflections of Fear (08) -Doomsday (08) -The Spawning (09) -Zombiegeddon (10) [Just didn't work for me. Didn't enjoy it at all.] -Welcome to Silent Hill (12) [Not their fault, as this wasn't originally planned, but the house was BAD.] -Alice Cooper: Welcome to my Nightmare (12) [After seeing Hollywood's WtMN house from 2011, I was SO excited and I ended up really hating it. Had no merit to it at all imo.] -Afterlife: Death's Vengeance (13) [Lazy, cheap, thoroughly unscary and downright annoying at some point. Everything I hate about 3D houses and then some.] -HAVOC: Derailed (13) [What most people seem to not realize is that the concept of HAVOC and the actual house are not why it was a fan favorite; it was because of the CAST. They are what made that house so popular. The first half of this house was almost literally the exact same room over and over. The second half after the train crash got interesting set wise, but wasn't threatening in the slightest, and I received no scares.] -The Purge (15) [Another case of unfortunate circumstancing. Some of the worst sets of all time, very bad actor placement, but one of the 2 casts are really energetic and make the house at least fun. It's not the worst ever, but from a catalog of mostly good-great houses, it ends up in my bottom 10.]
  8. An update on wait times. From what I've seen so far (I check the app every day/have been there quite a few nights), the highest wait times for each house so far have been: FvJ: 150 Insidious/Purge/TWD: 140 Asylum: 100 M&M/Body Collectors: 90 RUN: 80 AWiL: 65 As I suspected, lines aren't as bad as last year, partly due to having a 9th house, and also due to a strong house lineup. Last year every single house save FDTD hit 120-180, and this year only 4 have gotten above 120, and none to 3 hours. When people hear most/all houses are great, they won't go to only the major IPs. Also, AWiL's performance this year SHOULD make them think twice on bringing back exact repeats, especially really recent ones. The house is 20 min or less by 12 on the busiest of nights, and on most nights is 10 min or less by midnight.

    Insidious

In the Further scene, every now and then there will be black tubes in the middle of the hallway, making it easier to see. Is this for crowd control? As I feel it completely neuters the experience. The 2 scenes with the mother and Lady in Black from Insidious 2 are my biggest problems with this house. The "If she sees you.." scene with the child is very ineffective scare wise, and the "My name is Marilyn" scene is great with cast B, but Cast A's Lady in Black barely walks out of his hole before going back in, showing literally no effort at all, rendering the scene pointless. The first 2 scenes are designed rather weird imo, as they're not amazing for scares. I love this house and it has a LOT of great scares. But much of it, especially the first half, is very time dependent on scares, especially with Cast A in my experience, and that drags it down to the 4th spot on my list. Cast B doesn't seem to have that problem, as whenever I do it during their set they're fucking ON POINT and that's exactly how the house should be.
  10. I'm pretty sure at least one of the actors run the account, and it is SO much fun to follow on twitter. Really great aspect of the event, even if it's unofficial! They've conversed with the official HHN twitter as well, they're well aware of it. Also that Jack's been there since day 1. The suit of armor blocks the spot quite a bit though, so it works better without it there.
  11. That night should be INSANELY packed. I'm talking over 40,000 people. Believe it or not, it's still possible to see it all on a night like that. Get to the gate at 5. Once it opens, do TWD-Purge-Insidious-FvJ-Body Collectors one after the other without stopping for food/drinks etc. Longest you'll wait is 30-40 for the last 3. Asylum and RUN take until at least 7:30-8 to get above 30, but I reccomend seeing them (in either order) right after those first 5 to ensure the shortest wait. M&M will climb as soon as the park opens as it's the first thing people see, but that and AWiL will lose momentum after 11pm. AWiL will be less than 15 minor even a walkon from 12-2. So after those first 7, see the shows, eat, etc. Then come back for M&M, AWiL, and repeat whatever you'd like.
  12. Wednesday, Oct. 14th: BC:2 M&M:2 RUN:2 Insidious:1 FvJ:1 Asylum:1 TWD:1 B&T:1 Friday, October 16th: M&M: 3 BC: 2 Asylum: 2 RUN: 1 Insidious: 2 FvJ: 1 Purge: 1 TWD: 1 AWiL:1 B&T: 1 Total so far: Nights: 11 M&M: 19 BC: 18 Asylum: 15 RUN: 14 FvJ: 14 Insidious: 14 Purge: 11 AWiL: 7 TWD: 7 B&T: 5 Carnage Returns: 2
  13. He's been there since Employee Preview, just sometimes he doesn't have the shirt on. Actually, the first time I did the house EP night, Jason was there lol
  14. I cannot see Comcast agreeing to giving Scream another try after the amount of money they lost this year because of the right's holders. Merch, ads, maps, the actual house, costumes, etc.A LOT of money was spent to do Scream, as is spent on every IP, then at the last second they backed out. I don't see them even considering giving that IP or any other property owned by the same people another chance. Why risk getting fucked over again? Not to mention they gave Hollywood a real hard time with the Scream Terror Tram back in 2011, and that turned out horrible (according to most everyone) because of the shit the rights holders pulled. Only way I see Scream happening is if the IP ends up under the control of someone else, or a scene in a Die-In type house. I LOVE those Catacombs ideas, Legacy. There's so much that the property can do as far as sequels, same with Nightingales. Only reason we haven't seen anything else with these characters yet IMO is because there's only been 2-4 spots open for originals in the past 4 years, so they're wasn't much room for originals AND sequels, save HAVOC. I think we may see the number of IPs drop to 4 or even 3 next year, or if we do get a 10th house, we'll have up to 5-6 originals, which gives them a spot for a sequel.
  15. Purge 3 (Im pretty sold on this) Conjuring 2 (Fairly big chance, but not necessarily gonna happen) 70s/80s movie the gang in A&D wanna tackle (Killer Klowns From Outer Space?) 1-2 more IPs (Cuz obviously. I don't believe TWD will return. Too much evidence goes against it, especially since the house seems to be doing poorly in comparison to most of the others) Something with Jack and/or Eddie (Jack is ALWAYS a big hit. Wouldn't be surprised. I want a Jack vs Eddie house with the finale being Eddie severing Jack's head.) Catacombs, Urban Legends, or Nightingales sequel (UL and Nightingales were designed to be franchises, and Catacombs is noticeably absent from M&M and is a MAJOR fan favorite. It's time for one of these 3 to return.) 2-3 originals for a possible 10th house, either a near duplicate of a past house or a cheap original (probably a 3D house) Possible IPs: Amityville Horror remake or original F13 reboot sequel TCM prequel Underworld (new movie next year) Ghostbusters
  16. 17. Just regular RUN contestants, which was fine by me. The room just needed SOMETHING lol
  18. They FINALLY added a few actors to a room that seriously needed them. Caught me by surprise. I've had some great runs in this house as of recent. I think the house overall is fun to go through. Not an amazing house, but it's good, and when the cast is as intense as it was tonight, it makes for a great experience.
  19. Yeah it's pretty simplistic, but I've found it works rather well. They also added/moved someone this weekend. FvJ doesn't have a traditional ending, which I found rather odd, but the way it ends makes sense. They go back and forth, the winner shows up at the end. The music and sound effects makes it feel like you're in an action/horror movie and I love it.
  20. Sunday, October 4rth: Monsters and Mayhem: 1 Insidious: 1 Asylum: 1 Body Collectors: 1 Freddy vs Jason: 1 So far: Nights: 7 Monsters and Mayhem: 11 Body Collectors: 10 Freddy vs Jason: 9 RUN: 9 Insidious: 9 Asylum: 9 The Purge: 7 AWiL: 5 The Walking Dead: 3 B&T: 2 The Carnage Returns: 1 Quick trip to take my mom through the 4 best houses, plus Asylum. Was out by 8:45.
  21. I liked Insidious, FvJ and BC's endings a lot, but the rest were eh.
  22. I've done this one 9 times so far, and it's honestly gotten better to me. I liked it in the beginning, but they've added/changed some things to improve it. It's not very scary, but it's fun to walk through.

    The Purge

I wouldn't go THAT far. lol I liked the house, and scenically I thought it was incredible, but it was fairly low on scares. When the house is part of a year that includes Winter's Night, Nightingales, Nevermore, HR, Saws and In Between, it's hard for it to be the best of the year.

    Insidious

Yeah, I noticed that too. They should've used denser curtains to block the supports. Eh, I don't think this house called for projections. The light and audio choices work well enough to make for a creepy vibe before even entering the tent.
