  1. I still don't really see it as any more of an issue than any high startle haunted house... and my brother who's diagnosed with PTSD and the guys who also have it that he talked to agree. Something "might" happen where it can be a problem, but that's true at many many places... That being said I still think there's not much use in worrying about it we'll just have to see what happens when the time comes.

I've been thinking about it and it kind of seems to me like the only part of the house where you're out in a "combat" situation could be the facade of the house, which would make sense with that concept art we saw earlier where you walk through a trench. After that I bet you're going to spend most of the rest of the house in a "hospital" type of place since that's where the nurses would be most of the time...

I have to agree. What makes this house so special? I really don't get it. Yes, it has a War theme, but we've had those before. Anything that is startling could trigger a reaction. This argument could have been brought up years ago and it still would have been the same.

  2. If this zone is a success, then I could definitely see it being worked into a full fledged house in the coming years. It sounds very promising and the idea of an entirely blacked-out house is very intriguing. To me, that which can't be seen is much, much more frightening than that which can.

Couldn't agree with you more, Hush! I've been dying for an all black house that uses sound and touch. I think taking away the ability to see is extremely scary.

  3. I usually do Jaws queue first and then just make a big circle. But this year I might do the following...

    The In-between

    Saws N Steam

    Holidays of Horror

    The Thing

    Nightingales

    Winters Night

    The Forsaken

    In-between again.

    Nevermore.

Then walk back through the zones.

  4. If we get just people dressed in black, I'll be pretty disappointing.. I want some type of ghoul or goblin character, witch a b/w skin tone or maybe some black light paint on them. We'll for sure see the ninjas, but if that's all I think the zone will be a flop. That just isn't enough for my tastes.

  5. Why do you consider it to be outdated? It's an extremely effective effect that helps tell the story. In fact, I think it's one of the most effective effects that we see year after year at HHN. Every time I walk through it, it's disorienting. There's no getting used to it. That, and it's fun to walk through! :P

  6. Some examples:

Creatures - I walk into one room, there is a large man dancing between a door way with his shirt tied around his belly. I start laughing my ass off. Next room a giant alien attacks a fence and scares the shit out of me.

Leave it to Clever - Everyone is waving and staring at me. Next room someone is dancing on a desk. I shrug my shoulders.

I think Creatures pulled it off much better, even though Creatures lacked the creatures. I got a good amount of scares in there.

  7. Did you experience Home for the Holiday? That house is why a lot of fans are excited for this house.

I did, and I really didn't enjoy it all that much. I went through it a few times and for me it wasn't all that scary to me (the sets were awesome though). The problem I find with the b-movie themed houses is that they aren't as scary. Leave it to Cleaver, really, I didn't get 1 scare, nor jump, or anything. Zombiegeddon did it right though. Cheesy idea with some great scares and moments. I'm not judging the house I'm just going off of passed experiences. Although I can't say I'm excited for this house, I can say I am expecting a great experience like I had in Zombiegeddon.

  8. Merch has been so disappointing the past few years. I try not to keep my hopes high. HowlOScream's merch looks awesome this year. They have a hoodie, shirts in lots of different styles, tote bag, etc. I wish UO would take a hint from them.

I agree. We've been wishing for at least hoodies for the longest time now, and we still haven't gotten them! I think it's time for some new merch.

  9. I have to say.. I'm not really looking forward to this one. I feel like we've gotten the cheesy holiday theme a lot, event though we really haven't. I guess I just don't really like the idea. It seems to be very unoriginal compared to the rest of the houses. I even think I'm more excited about the Thing than this house.

  10. They could make good sounds if they went out and recorded real chainsaw sounds. They could get it pretty real sounding. You can get sounds sounding like they're right next to you if you manipulate the recording correctly. But to do that you need a good high quality recording of the actual chainsaw. Who knows! Maybe they'll surprise us.

  11. One of the problems with the sound effect is that it sounds fake. If I remember correctly, they're never as loud as loud as they should be, and they don't sound like actual chainsaw recordings. They could invest in some electric chainsaws. Though, I'm not really aware of the differences between the two types.
