    Reaper's Review

Great review. I agree that all of the houses were fantastic this year. Really great. I guess Nightmaze totally depended on when you go through it. I did it a couple of times and it was always just one long conga line going through a pretty set path. I was disappointed. Also- I think I saw you there on Sunday!
  2. I haven't left comments on each and every house. I'm saving it for my full review, which is in progress. But I want to single out Winter's Night because it was my absolute favorite of the event. It had everything needed to become a legendary house: amazing theming, unique effects, wonderful scenery, a great story, a variety of ghosts/zombies/monsters, imaginitive scares, and, most importantly, an amazing cast. Winter's Night, for me, joins such classic houses as Scream House, Castle Vampyr, All Nite Die In, and The Wolfman. I don't care which house is voted House of the Year (as they were all great) but for me, Winter's Night takes the cake. This is one for the history books. Kudos to all!
  3. So now the event has ended First off, thank you all for your hard work on this list. You guys rule! Last year, someone was nice enough to share their personal playlist of the event. Was it you, Reaper? Just wondering if anyone was planning on doing that again this year? Just thought I'd check before going on a download frenzy
  4. No offense taken at all. And I totally understand. If the message they're getting isn't consistent, then yes, it puts them in a tough spot. And for those who just ignore, it's not rude. A little frustrating, but not rude. I'm not speaking to this year's SAs. I haven't been this year yet (but I will on THURSDAY!!!! ). It's just happened in year's past. For example, last year, one of the Jack's they had in Fear Revealed was crazy rude. And considering that photos was the main point of the SZ, I was not happy with it. But yes, I'm referring to the vast minority of SAs. I didn't mean to imply that they all were. Most are amazing and I've got nothing but love
  5. Agreed. It seems that every SA is different. Some are very gracious, some tell you be quick, some are downright rude.
  6. So as long as you go completely out of your way not to look up, you won't see that there's no roof? Lol. Here we go with roof debate again. Many of us think they roofs add to the immersion. Others are disgusted that we would even care about something so trivial. No one is going to change anyone else's mind... Peace and love
  7. I agree! I love taking pictures of and in the SZs. It's a highlight of the event for me and I'm disappointed to hear that it's hard to do this year. That's a shame.
  8. So I was just thinking about the photo issue/conversation. I haven't been to the event this year yet (I'll be in town at the end of the month) so I'm only going by what has been discussed here. From what you all have said, it sounds like the SZs this year are not condusive to taking pictures at all. Sounds like there's too much fog and not enough lighting. Also, taking into accout what was said above, it sounds like SAs have even been instructed not to stop for photos. Do you think this comes form the criticism of the Fear Revealed and 20 Years of Fear SZs last year? A lot of people (on here anyway) complained that they were just glorified photo opps. Do you think that factored into the design and direction of this year's SZs? Was this A&D's response?
  9. I would just like to say that you guys are awesome. Some really really great pics!!! I appreciate it because, number one, it helps make my wait until I'm in town a little more bearable and helps scratch my HHN itch. Number two, I usually only have one night to try getting pics and this will certainly help fill in any blanks for things I missed. So THANK YOU!!!! And keep up the good work!
  10. ^^^ That's how I felt about Havoc last year! The theming and story did absolutely nothing for me. But the cast was so good, energetic, committed, and crazy that they made it an awesome experience.
  11. SVENGOOLIE!!!!!!!!! I loved that guy and it's the big reason I'm looking forward to this house! Chicago represent!!!! I am looking forward to this house mostly for the theme of holidays gone wrong. Sounds like it takes a few trips through to see all the effects?
  12. Thanks for sharing!!!! I won't be able to see the event until 10/27 so I'm living vicariously until then. Great news about Winter's Night! It's easily my most anticipated! I am not a fan of 3D houses myself but everything I'm hearing sounds like they pulled it off with The In Between. I cannot wait!!!
  13. Good review! Thanks for the writing it up! Nice to hear that Nightmaze isn't as bad as others are saying. I think it has a lot of promise and I really hope they pull it off!
  14. Very cool! Thanks for sharing By the way, the footage of Lady Luck spinning the wheel and just looking diabolical instead of the crazy laughing they used for the commercial would have made the ad much less cheesy.
  15. It remains to be seen if they just took the look of the weeping angels from Dr. Who as an homage or if they're really trying to recreate the characters and their behaviors as well. I'm with you though. It's an AWESOME concept and I'd love to see them taken full advantage of!!!
  16. You think it's bad in Orlando? Visit the "Terror Tram" here in Hollywood!!! Wow. The loudest, rudest crew members I've ever seen. They make the Orlando Ops people seem like well-mannered Disney people Oh, we're so on a tangent. So back on subject: Yay Forsaken!!!
  17. Totally agree. It's really looking like they pulled out the stops this year and there's not a single "lazy" house or SZ in the batch (that I can tell). Everything is looking really fantastic!!!!
  18. As you said, better late than never! I love reading these because it's like a little trip down memory lane. I totally agree that the Wolfman house was amazing and one for the books! And I also have never been a fan of "humor houses" like Cleaver. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Oh wow!!! Totally amazing. I wish I had more to say than that but that's just awesome. So so awesome!!!
  20. Dude. No one was insulting A&D or the SAs. Everyone on here has the utmost repect for all the talented people who work so hard ot put on the event. All anyone said is that they think roofs add to the house. *hands you a chill pill* This is for you. Anyway, interesting that there's no facade. I'll be very curious to see how they throw you right in!!! And I LOVE the look of the ghosts. Cannot wait for this!
  21. Agreed! The 3D projection looks amazing and is such a huge investment for a SZ. I am incredibly impressed. They really seem to being taking everything to another level this year... especially scarezones! Wow!
  22. I second that! Roofs absolutely add to the experience. Think of the Wyandot Estate last year. It was hard to believe I was in a, actual huge house when the walls stop just 2 feet above my head. Oh, and the ghosts looking like the ones from the Fog is a very good thing in my book!!!
  23. LOL. Keeping mouth shut on that topic
  24. Yeah. Agreed. I think they're explanation just might have been spin so they didn't look like they were cheaping out. But it doesn't make much logical sense.
