The Ip thing wont happen. They wont be spoiling their ip for next year?

I think they have an agreement with the ip holders, basically using the ip rights for 3 years. I do believe the business model would support that.
I don't think they would lose ip that was suppose to happen this year. Unless Warner Bros going to revisit haunted events again?   Warner Bro   has the corner of horror film.

Generally, IPs are agreed upon for one year. Agreeing to more up front is an exception to the rule.

If Universal wants to reuse the IPs from this year again next year, the IP holders would have to agree to it.

sure, then why did his house ( Dead Expouse)  that he originally wrote got a sequel. He wrote and worked on numerous of mazes and scare streets.
Don't not say that he didn't work on the event.

Entertainment, specifically Art and Design, creates HHN. Not Creative. They’re two different departments.

I bring to you all some bombshells from Inside Universal:

-Beetlejuice is NOT at the front, nor is it even in a soundstage.

-We are getting an Eilish house, but it isn't in MIB.

-TCM seems to be coming as a "best of" for all the films.

-No Terra Queen house, but she will be the main part of one (presumably the host of the anniversary house).

The only one of these things that is certain is that Beetlejuice is not in a soundstage.

    Eilish isn’t certain.

TCM is only speculated as a “Best of.” There are no rumors of that.

The idea of Terra Queen “hosting” an anniversary house is also speculation; not rumor.

I would still like to hear all the news other people are hearing.. I havent heard about them canceling it..

Because they don’t intend to cancel it.

Do they have a contingency? Probably. But they never intended to cancel. Construction on the houses never stopped. There will be adjustments to operations, and SIF and GATs will not be used. The event is still happening though.

I couldn't see them doing post spring. That wouldn't give them enough turn around time to get 31 set up. An April-May HHN run would mean June 1st would be teardown and require immediate construction on 31 with only 3 months to tear down and rebuild. While not impossible, I don't see that being an option. I also don't think a 3 month break is enough for guests. Quite a few people travel from out of state and 3 months isn't enough of a break between trips for many people but a 7 month break is better. They wouldn't want to effect Mardi Gras. I feel like if they delay it, the only option is post Christmas, pre Mardi Gras.

    This.

There’s already only between 2-3 weeks between completing strike and starting construction between HHNs. Postponing is less an option than starting early is.

    Random 5am thought:

Does anybody else think Universal changed up houses and trimmed down on the number of IP's because they are expecting a large drop off in attendance this year because of the coronavirus?

After getting that email to AP holders asking what guests would like to see change after they reopen, it really got me thinking. 3 different questions asking about reduced capacity. HHN has gotten to the point where some nights it's difficult to walk the streets without bumping into somebody every few steps. I easily see them dropping capacity by at least 25% this year but I wouldn't be surprised if they cut it in half.

So, why spend all the extra money to lock down IP's when the event is going to draw in less of a crowd?

House lineup hasn’t changed because of the pandemic. The changes on the spec map are due to changes with rumors. Signs point to a situation where Universal attempted to get another IP and could agree on terms.

When did Legacy make a list now?  I've admittedly been preoccupied, but if Legacy has a list, it's the only list that matters,

Well its above, it's his changes to the spec map I believe lol, but those look like they would suit as a good line up for this year, it's not official you know because nothing is confirmed until Uni says but it would make this year really cool if they went that route you know.

I have not made a list, and if I posted something that can be interpreted as a list, it’s not something I’ll say you can count on.

Really hoping this means Scream in ST1 and an original in ST3 so that it's a 5/5 split.

I really hope you’re not legitimately expecting a lot of your list. If you are, you’re going to sorely disappointed.

They generally allow 1-2 originals in a soundstage. I guess they could do an IP zone in NY but who knows what. A TC house-zone combo while having the things marketing wants is perfectly doable. I am NOT suggesting TC be the marketing focus, especially when it wasn't even the marketing focus of 15.

@Legacy are you still hearing 3/20 for first announcement?

I never heard that date. I’m just assuming that date. It feels like a good date, logically.

Not sure what you mean about the "A&D structure" because David is definitely still involved.  I know because he's my friend.  Also, Dylan has been getting in on it as well.  He did a lot for Nightingales last year..  A lot of great minds doing great things.  Can't wait to see what happens this year!

I mean the Entertainment Design / Creative Development section of the Entertainment department. Their organizational structure. It’s the what Mike was the head of, where Charles, Patrick, and Blake work, and the creative heart of Entertainment. Dylan isn’t in that structure.

The team is big, I realize. Elements of Entertainment that sit above and peer to A&D are involved. However, in the years I’ve been getting stuff directly from the inside, I’ve never heard Dylan mentioned.

Agreed. They do everything for the GP, and nothing for horror fans. House of 1000 Corpses was the one thing they did for us last year.

Well, the GP makes 98% of the attendees... so... yeah.

I feel like Marketing has screwed the event up. I wish the event still did fun things for the true fans, and had great websites.

Things change. There’s no one left on A&D who was there when they had full control. Universal is under new ownership. Attendance is higher (because of that focus on the GP, btw). It was always going to happen.

The event isn’t about “true fans” (which is an asinine, gate-keeping term anyway). But it never was. It’s a corporate event, designed to make money. Any loyalty you have towards it just means you’ve fallen for the marketing.

After going down the rabbit hole on youtube with her stuff.... nice voice, seems like a nice kid, very typical of what the industry seems to crank out as far as pop singers.... but there has to be ACTUAL horror ways to bring in the teenagers.... IF you have to bring in more teenagers. This seems like a very Hollywood thing to do. Hopefully Orlando does something different... maybe a JLo/Shakira Lagoon Show .....

It is a very Hollywood thing. Marketing directed a house for both coasts. Orlando pushed back on a house but acquiesced the lagoon.

Agreed totally, however I use the term "evidence" subjectively.  Overall I am referring "evidence" as how the rumors are generated.  Its kind of a sense of how rumors pop up and sources which gives credibility to those rumors. In a sense, Source X can be traced back in the past and be correct which gives some weight to the rumor  (solid or not). The only true evidence is hard leaks (Website data-mines, Marketing slip-ups ect...).

IU just reminds me of a bunch of monkeys throwing poop at wall trying to get a reaction out of you...   A tip of the hat to your "Chaotic-Neutral"  stance this year.

I am cold and calculating, waiting is just fine for me.  Some people just wanna watch the world burn, where as I plan its destruction to suit my means.:jason:

That sourcing is typically done behind the scenes. I don’t reveal sources, nor do I ask sources to reveal how they get their info. But, I have sources I trust because they’ve been right in the past.

    It’s a fine line.

I got bored last night and went over and read the HHN 30 speculation thread over at IU.  Wow that place is a mess.  Right now, its just Legacy toying everyone over there with hints /clues of only rumors.  Couldn't find a shred of credible evidence, or what I conciser credible evidence.  I figured it was going to be "tight lipped" this year due to the past few years.  Now Rix Flix went and posted the IU rumors on youtube .  All this information/misinformation is going to make the speculation game hard as hell this year.

What I like to see at the event Vs. what will actually be at the event are almost certainly different, but I am never disappointed.  So for now, I can speculate that Creepshow and Billie Eilish lagoon show.

I'd be surprised if ST came back due to its reception / execution last year, but crazier things have happened (As always though $$$$ makes the world go around).  Conjuring / IT sounds to good to be true, so I am not getting my hopes up.  Beetlejuice seems like low hanging fruit for Universal so its possible, but again no credible evidence.

Pretty sure we will get our first announcement next month, so that will be exciting.

There’s no such thing as evidence in this game until summer. It’s all rumor and speculation. About a week before the first announcement is the first time “evidence” happens.  Before then, it’s all whispers, conjecture, and wishful thinking. And while I can just blurt our all the rumors I’ve heard, all that does is get people’s hopes up without changing the fact that it’s still just rumor.

That mess used to be over here, too. Whether I instigate it or it follows me is open for debate. But without the mess, HHN boards become ghost towns.
