  1. This is one of the biggest debates that seem to pop up every year. With the latest round of 'behind the scenes' construction pictures and videos making there way around the internet now, and sites such as CSW and HNN now banning any such links to pictures and videos of Restricted Areas I figured it's time to take it to the members.

I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on this issue. HOWEVER, please keep this mature and respectful, there will be no member bashing. It is safe to debate back and forth if you have a clear point to make, but again.. do it in a mature manner.

If it gets out of hand, the thread will be locked.

  2. RHPS & Whats going on in Kid Zone/Parade Building?

    Credit: Screamscape

(7/20/09) According to Universal’s casting website we can now confirm that HHN will feature the Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute show once again this year. They will be holding auditions on July 25th. Word is also going around the rumor mill that in keeping with the movie theme this year, we may be Shaun of the Dead come to life in some fashion, but in the park and not in the Bill & Ted show. According to one blog it will be used as the theme of a new Scare Zone, but I’ve also heard that they are somehow connected with whatever Haunt is being set up in the Parade building.

This is the link to the blog in the article.

On an interesting note, according to some sources, some "Shaun"'s have been cast for the house in the Parade Building. There is a "Shaun" chracter in the Drag Me To Hell movie, a female (young and old). However, the ones being cast are male.

  3. This thread was closed for a little while as we cleaned it up of all construction pictures that were taken by sneaking into restricted areas. It seems this is getting out of control with people now taking pictures inside the Sound Stages, so as of now HNN will not condone Pictures and/or Videos from restricted parts of the park.

PLEASE if you want to post Pictures and or Video of construction, make sure its from Guest Accessible areas.

  5. Here is some casting speculation for you that has been floating around.

    Tent - Child's Plaything

    Tent - Soldier

    SS22 - Inmate

House location speculation has the following locations.

    SAW - JAWS Queue

    Chucky - Sprung Tent

    The Wolfman - Sound Stage

Icon House/Silver Screams? - Disaster Queue?

Feel free to add, and speculate.

  6. MY HORRORNIGHTNIGHTMARE T-SHIRT. Thank you so much Mark for giving me an idea with the forum name. 100 percent for Mark's kick ass inspiration!

I already told you, but thought I would post it here. For the first fan made shirt, it's awesome! :)

  7. Could you post links to that?

Posted the link in the construction thread. I'm kind of disappointed that the JAWS Queue will be used for SAW, as I think a Sound Stage would of worked nicely with the sets they could of built. As long as it turns out better than Reflections of Fear, I'll be happy.

  8. Rumors have been going around that CDT is done. I heard it from a realiable source who heard it at auditions yesterday.

Not sure what to think of this, as the CDT has been a part of every HHN we've been too in some capacity. CDT was awesome at HHN 17, and sorry to say.. sucked last year. They were in one of the worst parts of the parks, and really had no good hiding spots. Putting them back in front of Disaster would be nice, and let them roam around at the Stay & Scream Area(s) again.

BUT.. if they go, and we get another good "themed" SZ, then I'll go for that.

  9. So I was scrolling thru the Dish Network guide last night and came across a film that sounds rather close to what we are looking at this year. The movie itself is not mainstream, and this was the first I had heard of it. Check it out here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0981224/

May be a stretch, maybe not as we know that Uni has used obscure films in the past as ideas for theme's and even sets.

Take it for what it is, just speculation but remember we need to look at all avenues when it comes to our beloved event.

Before I start, my message contains speculation about a certain Icon some don't like to hear about. However, I feel were a more mature group than that here and can talk about him freely.

After looking at this I find an odd resemblance to Eddie, the outfit and a mask. I know this is probably unlikely, but seeing that Eddie (Sawyer) was/is a Horror Movie Fan, could he fit in as the Icon? I'll go back to a question that was asked on our UTH Tour in 2007 about Eddie ever getting his due. The reply from A&D was basically "never say never" and "it's possible down the road".

Seeing that Jack had his way with Horror Movie Icons, if they use Eddie (Schmidt).. this could be his vision, and a way to link him to Jack again making it a "popular" connection to the main stream fans who probably never heard of or don't remember anything about Eddie Sawyer/Schmidt.

Eddie as a Icon, Usher as a Mascot? Hrm. I'd like to see either.

  10. Since Jason was cut out of The Nightmare on Elm Street house (just one tiny little part even) by NLC...I have no idea why they would want a full house after the contract has expired.

Maybe the two of them would appear in "Silver Screams" as "Hockey Mask Man" and "Burnt Face Man" (just making these names up) as they did in All Night Die In...

I just don't believe that rumor at all, but you never know. To bring some speculation back, we can confirm 3 houses. Chucky, SAW and Wolfman, then we guess that Frankenstein and Dracula could be another two from reading the press release. I say guess and could due to the fact that it just says they will be part of HHN. So if we say those are 5 houses, that leaves 3 more.

What do we have left over? We have the following names floating around.

    Silver Screams/Screen

    Leave it to Cleaver

    The Spawning

    Army of Darkness

    Cirque De Freak

Will Frankenstein and Dracula have there own house, or be part of Silver Screams? If so, that leaves the 5 above names to all be possible houses. If they get there own house, then what 3 out of the above will we see? Could some be Scare Zones? If I had to choose 3 of the above, I'd go with Leave it to Cleaver, The Spawning and Silver Screams (if its an ANDI style house).

  11. Freddy vs. Jason? What?

    Credit: Screamscape

(7/3/09) I’m not sure how much faith to put into this rumor yet but we have heard buzz about a possible Freddy VS Jason themed haunt for this year’s HHN. While that’s a fun idea, I think I’d still like to see a very well done version of “The Mist”, packed to the gills in fog effects, maybe along with some special flashlights.

I'm not sure where this is coming from, as I haven't seen anyone talk about it anywhere. You would think if they had plans for Freddy and Jason again they would be promoting that heavily since I think it would draw more people than Chucky or the Wolfman.

  12. I believe the codes came directly from the house permits, but of course that could be faked as well. I just tend to believe it.

I agree, the newest set of code names are ones from the permits. I think SAW and Wolfman should be in Sound Stages, since to me are the biggest draws. Wolfman being UNI's big movie coming out in November, and HHN could be good hype for it, and SAW being a huge franchise that UNI Paid the rights for. I'm sure they will throw a house in the JAWS queue that should be in a Sound Stage though, like last year.

  13. Drew Thomas who played Dr. Panetti (sp?) and Erin Cline who played Chance in Jack's Carnival of Carnage at Halloween Horror Nights 17 were on last week's (repeated tonight) episode of America's Got Talent. He is an Illusionist from the Orlando Area. They got 3 yeses from the judges and have moved on to Las Vegas.

Erin is not his wife, she is the one on the far left.

You can read more about Drew Thomas at: http://www.drewthomas.net

  14. I was thinking about the idea that Uni could use the survey idea of Stephen King movies as scarezones this year. I think that if they did that it would work good for The Mist, Children of the Corn and now that you mention it, Salem's Lot would be cool.

I would love to see a Children of the Corn Scare Zone. If they made it a big enough area where they could do a fairly good sized corn field that you walk through.

  15. So with those are we to assume that there will be only 7 houses? I would say yes as why would there be only 7??

Well if you look at the second coded list there is no mention of a Fangoria house at all, and some speculation has the Magazine listed just for advertising support. You have Cirque De Freak and Army of Darkness to make 8 houses if the the list is correct.

  16. Saw Added to Universal's Halloween Horror Nights

    Source:Lionsgate

    June 25, 2009

Lionsgate has signed a deal with Universal Studios to integrate its "Saw" franchise into the theme park's annual "Halloween Horror Nights" event. Here is the full press release:

Building on a tradition of bringing the horror genre's most compelling stories and characters to life in blood-curdling, living nightmare encounters, Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights will present an all-new "live" attraction based on the most profitable horror franchise to date, SAW, per an agreement among Universal Studios Theme Parks, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures.

The new SAW experiences, to be presented at this year's Halloween Horror Nights event, will mark the first time that SAW characters and stories will be developed as "live" attractions in a U.S. theme park. At Universal Studios Hollywood, characters, themes and live action recreations of the infamous "traps" from the entire SAW horror franchise will be featured in a "maze" experience, in multiple "scare zones" and aboard the parks signature "Terror Tram," where guests will be subjected to a deadly "game" that will echo a story element instantly recognizable to SAW's legion of fans. The team designing the live SAW experiences includes the Universal Studios Hollywood creative department as well as Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures.

A SAW attraction will also be included in the Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Orlando.

The SAW film series has managed to ratchet up tension and invention with each successive film, while jangling millions of nerves worldwide. The sixth installment of the powerhouse franchise is scheduled to hit theatres this October in its traditional opening weekend slot leading into Halloween.

Larry Kurzweil, President and Chief Operating officer, Universal Studios Hollywood, said: "Guests at Halloween Horror Nights have come to expect the world's most authentic, imaginative and truly terrifying 'live' Halloween experiences and the record-breaking SAW film franchise provides us with an ideal platform for meeting those high expectations. We're thrilled to be able to work with Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures in what we expect to be a perfect marriage of creative forces."

"We are excited to be able to bring a new level of fright to our loyal SAW fans. It is clear that the creative team at Universal Studios Theme Parks understands the mythology of SAW, and they have proven to have very creative and twisted minds," said Burg and Koules.

"This partnership represents a new landmark for the SAW film franchise in that it allows us together with Twisted Pictures to further expand the brand and immerse fans in the horrifying world of SAW," added Aubrey McClure, Senior Vice President of Promotions & Licensing for Lionsgate.

  17. Ok I am all for Jack, kinda, but unfortunately the more they use Jack the less people will like him. Jack should only come out when HHN turns 21, or for the 25th anniversary. Just my opinion.

I agree, 20-21 should be the earliest that Jack comes back. I know hes the face of HHN as far as original Icons, but he needs a break.

You are much braver than I am to post that image (though yours doesn't say "confidential" on it, so you're probably okay).

The way I see it is this. If legit, and its seeming that it may be it was obviously leaked from someone at Universal and then given to someone that obviously couldn't be trusted and sent it to a friend(s), and then the vicious circle began. So now you have this image that was supposed to be confidential floating around to who knows how many people. It's been mentioned various times on various sites a number of times, so it's not like it's not a known fact that it's been leaked. UNI can't blame anyone but the person that leaked it to begin with.

I also think that now, it's great press/advertisement for UNI/HHN. It's sparks interest and discussion, it's a great way for UNI to get feedback form the die-hard fans that support this event the most while 90% of the public still has no clue as to what is happening unless they visit the official website. Just my 2 cents on that. :)

I've been trying to make out what it says under the Frankenstein title in the poster. Anyone had any luck on that?

All I think I can make out is..Creation or Creations of the Damned?

I believe it says Creature of the Damned. Speculation about the Chucky one is that it says Friends to/till the End, and not sure about the Dracula one.

  18. Reading through the press release today you have this,

For 23 select nights this fall, modern horror films are “Ripped from the Silver Screen” to frighten guests at what promises to be the most feared Halloween Horror Nights ever. Other horror films and characters from the movies, including completely re-imagined Frankenstein and Dracula concepts, will also be integrated into this year’s event.

and to get an idea, here are the rest of the pictures from the IP Integration Chart that shows both Dracula and Frankenstein.
