  2. back at hhn they had a house in 1995 called universal house of horrors. it was basically a duel run haunted house with two sides. classics and modern, the house was popular enough to have a few sequels. 1995 universal house of horrors 1996 universals new house of horrors. a version that replaced the modern movies with real life serial killers like jack the ripper. 1997 universals museum of horrors 1998 museum of horror; chamber of horrors. museum of horror, unnatural history 1999 universal's creature feature in 3d. don't know if it counts but the theme is similar. if anyone remembers these mazes and what some of these rooms were that would be amazing.

  4. Tell me how these tie to Jack (aside from the obvious 2). There wasn't any back story, build up, videos, or detailed websites but the public got it, loved it, and wanted more. Anxiety in 3-D Location: Sound Stage 22 Enter the 3-D virtual reality of The House That Jack Built, and find yourself trapped in a malfunctioning 3-D video game. Dark Torment Location: Earthquake Queue After riding Earthquake, you'll descend to the labyrinths of a nightmarish underworld where hordes of evil demons torment you at every turn. The Fearhouse Location: Nazarman's Try and make your way through a carnival where mirrored hallways, darkened corridors and hideous creatures make your escape unlikely. Total Chaos Location: Sound Stage 22 Wander through a top secret underground military base where captured aliens are on the loose and thirsting for blood. Universal Classic Monster Mania Location: Earthquake Queue There's something disturbing about this small town mortuary. The bodies just don't want to stay dead - and they don't want YOU to leave!

  5. I'm on the same boat as the people that want a clean slate. But if I had to choose houses to come back for sequels, Dark Torment, and Cold Blind Terror would be my choices.

  6. Well SS Frighttanic had ghosts in the line dressed in period clothing. (The one I saw was on crutches and was missing a leg) Also Remember the bum like guys at the first psycho scareapy? they were awesome too. I had forgotten about Nightmare Creatures and Dark Torment. That was neat. I thought Nightmare Creatures was kind of weak but being able to walk underneath Kong was incredible. (much like the time my wife and I got stuck on The Mummy and were evacuated underneath the ride) Actually I think most of the houses were very inovative in 2000. Total Chaos had the "elevator", slide and ball pit. The Fearhouse had that cool cat room they piled you into killed the lights and attacked your legs with cats paws... Anixety in 3-D had that rotating mirror room. Well universal Classic Monster Mania wasn't really innovated but was still good.

  7. I loved the incorporation of the rides into HHN 10. I don't remember much more than Jack in the Jaws ride, but Earthquake (Dark Torment) and the Kongfrontation walk through (Nightmare Creatures ) were just cool. Dark Torment was especially neat because you went through the 'scary' part of the Earthquake attraction, then had to leave through the haunted house. It was genius. The queue for Nightmare Creatures had creatures in it, too. I remember one of them sneaking around a pillar to scare the group in front of us while we were waiting. Loved it. I've wished for that sort of interaction at HHN ever since. I would be very happy to see it, again! Mae

  8. IP means Intellectual Property. In the early years of HHN most specifically in 1992 attractions got jazzed up a bit for HHN, with Darkman haunting Kongfrontation and "Mad Scientists" scaring guests in the Back to the Future queues. The last time this was done was in 2000 with the Earthquake ride being incorporated into the haunted house Dark Torment and Blood Waters in the Jaws Ride. That consisted of having scareactors playing the Fisherman from I Know What You Did Last Summer haunting the boathouse and Jack also made a cameo appearance in there. I really enjoyed having the attractions jazzed up for HHN, and think this would be a nifty idea. It may just be a rumor with no basis in fact, or they may just have fog over the water with spooky lighting effects to make the ride look more "Halloweeny". But they could do a lot more to give the ride an additional kick during the event. They could as has been suggested have dummies of bloody corpses floating in the water, or lying around in the boathouse. They could dress the whole area up with blood and gore. They could have actual scareactors in the boathouse again. They could even have horror themed skippers! Imagine if your boat was being piloted by a Zombie! Zombie vs. Shark... just like in a certain Italian movie. I rather doubt that there would ever be live scareactors in the water, however.

  9. Back in the year 2000 we had a house which was partially based on the seven sins: Dark Torment. After dieing in an Earthquake you walked down through he levels of Hell and saw sinners punished for these. But, we also were encouraged by the Event itself (implicitly) to indulge all these sins! Pride: by showing off beads we caught from the parade. Lust: by ogling the hot girls and guys used as "distraction scares" and also in parade and B&T. Envy: by fuming over those who had express passes. Greed: by scrambling after doubloon tossed from the parade. Gluttony: turkey legs. Sloth: they set up bars so you could buy drinks without even getting out of line. Wrath: from waiting in line too long. Of course now the absence of the parade takes away half the temptations to these delightful vices.

  10. This house is a great tribute to the legendary Ray Harryhausen. I love the foul smell which I have heard is supposed to be sulfur but actually smells to me at least, more like carrion. I have got lots of shout outs in this house but am especially delighted when the Cyclops shouts out "DOKKK -TORRRRR!!!!" As for the Empty Throne it gives me a sense of deja vu to a similar empty throne 10 years ago in the year 2000. That year the house Dark Torment ended in the throne room of Hell and although there were many demons and devils in the room none seemed to be the Big Guy himself. I had always thought that the Lord of Darkness who was featured in the Parade that year should have been sitting there. This year I learned that was in fact the original intention! The house was to have been called Darkness and the Big Horned Guy from Legend was to have starred in it. For some reason this was changed at the eleventh hour. My guess is that they couldn't get the costume into the scene with the big horns and all - similar to what happened in Creatures in 2008 and Dracula's wings last year. What trouble has removed the Stygian Lord from his realm this year remains anyone's guess.
