Front-of-the-line passes....

Recommended Posts

When you have a front-of-the-line pass, does it get you to the front on EVERY maze, for as MANY times as you'd like?

I heard that it's not that way in Orlando, so I got a bit worried... schocked to admit it, but 2011 is my first time actually going to HHNH, so I need some advice here....

Thanks!

Yup, as many times as you want for EVERYTHING... well except for food. But ALL mazes and ALL rides. And reserved seating at shows.

It IS worth it if you go on a busy day... which is just about every damn day now that it got popular. But DEFINITELY get it if you're going on a Friday or Saturday.

And it is definitely worth it during the beginning of the ticket selling time when the FOTL passes are REALLY cheap.

Last year, it was only TEN BUCKS MORE than a regular ticket. That's right, it was $69!!!! The moment after the first week started, it SKYROCKETED to $99 - 129. And multi-day passes were sold out by that time too so no matter what, you really had to find a way to crunch time if you were trying to see everything.

You'll be done in 3 hours so I say pace yourself unless you like going home at 10 PM.

I'd say it's worth it and I was planning on getting one this year myself to try it out at least once to see if I dig it's style.

I don't mind waiting in lines but when I'm watching those people walk directly to the front as many times as they want, I can't help but feel a little "that should be me."

In Orlando we have the Express Pass not the Front of Line Pass. The Express Pass gives you access to an express line ONCE per house and ride as well as special reserved seating for certain show(s) at specific times. The Express Pass does not give you unlimited access to the express line. The terms and condition of the Express Pass is available on the HHN Orlando site. The price for Express Pass varies based on date of attendance.

Here is the link to the Express Pass ticketing section of the HHN Orlando site: http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando/express_pass.html

Last year the Front of Line Pass of HHN Hollywood included repeat Front of Line to entrance at all mazes, rides, and attractions which is basically priority access to all rides, mazes and shows with access to reserved seats as well as an exclusive entrance through security and into the park and 10% discount on food and merchandise at select vending places.

Here is the link to the Front of Line Pass information page from last year's HHN Hollywood site: http://www.halloweenhorrornights.com/hollywood/2010/ticket/Front_Of_Line.php

Well, I'd recommend getting the pass for one night. Perhaps wait in the lines the first night, and skip through them the second night. I often find waiting in the lines a really big amp in anticipation.

I know you're accustomed to Orlando and how big that place is, but Hollywood is REALLY small. Seriously, you'll be done SUPER FAST. And I think you might even get a bit bored if you FOTL pass it both nights. But that's just me haha

Never been to the Orlando event. I live one state over from California, actually.

I see your point - that makes sense, and saves a LOT of money...

I never really have any intention to but the FoTL pass. Nave have and probably never will. I plan on buying the Frequent Fear Pass and probably go for two or three nights so I don't think I'll need one. Every year I have gotten there early (Which was around 6:30 since I live fairly close to Universal), thereby allowing me to do everything I want to do in one night. I don't mind waiting in the lines since it builds anticipation for me and I get to socialize with my friends and maybe enjoy a chimichanga (Spelling?) or a Full-Throttle. Even now the event is getting bigger and more popular, I still don't think I'll buy a FoTL pass because I want to pace myself. I don't want to get everything done before ten. lol Although I prefer to get everything done in one night even though I'll still go more than once, I can always go back and see the maze I missed.

In your case, even though you'll be out of state, you'll be going both nights. I honestly wouldn't bother with the FoTL pass if you're going to do that so you can save some money. Like DTH said, it'll build anticipation and if you get bored in line, you can buy a chimi or an energy drink since they always have vendors in the lines. If you arrive really early (Like an hour or even half-an-hour before opening), you'll get to see the opening scarimonies and have shorter lines.Like DTH also said, since the park is really small (Though going up and down the escalators do take up a lot of time), you'll get everything done pretty quickly.

Haha, it won't reach that high! I don't think it ever has. 2 hours at the most but play your cards right and you'll never wait more than 30 minutes. You can definitely do at least 2 mazes and the Terror Tram with no wait as soon as you get there and then if you do the House of Horrors at the end of the night, about a 10 minute wait at most.

ACTUALLY, now that there's 2 mazes on the lower lot this year, and only IF you get there before it opens, you can run to a maze on the way, run to the 2 mazes down below AND both rides, come back up to the Terror Tram which will still have no wait. After that, an hour and a half or so will have passed by (the Terror Tram takes quite awhile to walk through) and the mazes will have started to gain a line. And knowing you can wait until the end of the night to do HoH (it's the first maze people see so they head to that first, so it gets a HUGE line at the beginning of the night and gets really small for the last 2 hours) then that means you'll have done 3 mazes AND a Terror Tram with no wait with only 2 mazes left that you'll have to wait for at approximately 8:30ish, giving you 4 whole hours to do 2 mazes, eat, whatever and then you can do HoH with no wait. Oh and another important thing, Bill and Ted has a show AFTER the park closes so wait to do that than.

With that said, I've devised you a little map:

7 PM - Run to the The Thing (in the WWW Venue)

7:05 - Once out of the The Thing, run to the lower lot. This takes about 5 - 10 minutes in itself.

7:15 - Hit The Mummy while it has no line

7:20 - Hit Jurassic Park (it'll never have much of a line but while you're down there, might as well do it)

7:27 - Run to the JP Queue maze

7:32 - Run to Hostel

7:40 - Go back up the escalators towards the upper lot

7:50 - Do the Terror Tram, still with no wait

It's the first hour to two hours that has no lines on the lower lot and no wait on the Terror Tram which it's why it's best to do those first!

8:30 - Might as well eat right about now. The Shrek Venue is next to the exit of the Terror Tram so you can switch out either.

9:00 - Eating or the Shrek Venue

9:30 - Head over to House of 1000 Corpses

10:15 - Oh look... other than the House of Horrors, you're done.

You can go ahead and wait for it or see the Bill and Ted show in the mean time, waiting for the line to decrease.

But like I said, it's best to pace yourself so you're not done by 11 or 12. Some people might then use this time to do repeat houses but you'll be there for 2 days already anyway, so I don't know if you'll want to do that unless you're that type of person who loves to run through them half a dozen times each. Heck, you might as well because they may never come back!

Have you been yet this year? If so, do you see this plan still working out fairly well? I'm hearing the lines get really long pretty quick, one I heard was up to 85 minutes. Yeesh. This'll be my first year going, so I definitely want to have a good time and be able to do everything. Unfortunately, I decided on regular admission instead of FOL, and we don't have the $30 per tickets to upgrade...

So far from what I've seen in pictures it looks awesome, though!

I went opening night. Check out my review in the event reviews section under DTH316's Opening Night Review. Tells ya everything I did and at what time. I actually forgot to follow this game plan... buahahaha but I still got everything I wanted done.

Well, we followed your plan from above minus a few changes. We got to do every maze, ride and show, plus the Mummy twice. We would've been able to probably do it three times or another maze again, except their 45 minute estimated wait turned into an hour and half... And cost me $3 for their stupid lockers... =/ Damn. But other than that, it was awesome! We'll definitely be making this a yearly thing. If you just have a plan in mind, you won't need VIP/FOL passes to do everything.

Glad my plan worked for you! What were the changes you made specifically? It's always a good idea to go over everything you did so you can know what to fix for next year!

Well, we ate RIGHT before we came in, since we went to Knotts the night before and slept way late. After we came from the lower lot, we went to the tram and after instead of eating we hit La Llorona, then 1000 corpses, ate then back down to the Mummy, back up to Wolfman and the last showing of Bill and Ted's. I'd say skip going back down to lower lot unless you have FOL... Our estimated 45 minute wait turned into an hour and a half! Even the FOL line was getting long, which definitely slowed us up on the line... But even with that, we got everything done, plus checked out the shops. We were close to the front when getting in however, and ran towards the first maze. But it was awesome for our first time going.

So what are the chances the FOTL passes will be around the same price of $69 the first week this year? I'm ready to buy my tickets the day they go on sale.
