  1. Casey, I believe he was teasing you.

Calm my friend. Actually your argument for HOS reminds me of what we were discussing previously. The GP's feelings about HOS vs HHN.

To them it's a competition, one must be better than the other. They don't compare and contrast and recognize the differences each park has to offer.

We see the possibility for difference that gives each park a unique feel. HOS can do all zombies. HHN not so much because each street is so different in appearance and theme. (Not HHN streets just the areas of the park are different)

This makes us wants variety. Things to fit with the ever changing scenery of the park.

None of us know how hordes will work. I'm hoping Lyn is right and it will be more like the 90's.

I've always found the props a distraction. I felt more detail and concentration was being put into the set pieces. Set pieces don't scare. For me it's always been about the scaractors.

I think of we let our scareactors have more leeway and creativity by not saddling them with specific scenery (less props means more improve, different tactics to produce a scare), we will see some fantastic scares.

I know I did in 98 and 99. I could watch them work for hours. And my greatest joy was watching the CDT clear the streets for the parade.

Thank you, I just can't tell when he's teasing when he's quite abbrasive with our fellow posters 9 times out of 10.

And I completely agree with you. The two events are totally different. My original post was misinterpreted and took off from there.. Leaving me in the dust to try and explain. I was just trying to say that I think HHN could pull off doing hordes, things would just have to be re-tweaked a little bit. Hordes open up more creative freedom, and I think uni is going to pull it off just fine. :)

  2. If a situation winds up getting out of hand, we the staff try to do our best to clean things up such as removing posts from anybody that's necessary for things to get back on track.

Anyways, everybody... lets please get back on speculation. Thanks! :)

My apologies, Reaper. I'm just not going to tell people they're right and im wrong just because they say im wrong. That's not what speculation is about.

Back to topic.. How bout them streets?

  3. Sooooo last year's streets at HOS would be considered monotonous due them being all zombies & a few disguise bushes/plants?

And this has been one of my main issues with HHN for the past 6 years. There needs to be (despite the crowds)

I didn't attend last year, as I closed IOA every weekend last haunt season..

But they weren't all generic zombies.. It seems that just because I mentioned that HOS had hordes last year and I thought it could work at the studios, you think that im head over heels about HOS, that I think HOS and HHN are on the same level, and that you're going to hurt me by bashing HHN.. Maybe if you dropped your holier than thou attitude and read my posts things would be clearer. If its a crime to speculate and add my two cents, then there shouldn't be a spec thread, huh? If you could call this a spec thread.. Its more like people speculate, and then get bashed by people who are gods.

  4. you bring some interesting points that make me wonder,

when you say Fright nights and "scareactors roamed in large packs and scared guests" what do you mean large packs? how many people was that?

it makes me wonder, because you bring a really good point, for this horde to work, there has to be a lot of actors, at least twice the mount, or even 3 times the amount of actors from a regular scarezone, I think that would be the only way it would really work, I mean, that would be effective and awesome, but, then it makes me wonder, if we are going to get a lot of actors like that, or not, a horde with not that many actors won't really work, and that's why I think they worked in HOS, because the streets were smaller, since the streets here are bigger, then more actors might be needed,

which is why I wonder how many were there for Fright nights,

same thing with the Path of the Wicked comparison, the reason that zone was so amazing to me was not because of how realistic it was, it was because of how amazing the costumes were, it didn't even had that many actors, it didn't have any props at all, yet I loved it, I loved the scarecrow so much,

while people with dirty clothes and blood on their mouths is more realistic, that doesn't mean is going to be awesome, I mean who knows, I'm just thinking, if we won't get props or sets, I Was hoping at least we got amazing costumes like in 2008,

but with zombies that is not likely

That's what I meant in ny original post about "getting down to our roots." Before we had sz's with amazing sets.. We had hordes.. And it worked. Whose to say that if it worked before, that it can't work again? Isn't the CDT technically a horde? A large group of chainsw wielding maniacs that aren't in a central themed zone.. Yep, id call that a horde. And I remember back in XX when they started at the gates.. Then ended up in NY.. But NY is too wide for a horde.. So is central park, IFF area, Shrek alley, san Fran. Yep. Those areas are far too large for a horde.

  5. I've been to both parks, I've been to both events, and I've worked at universal and will be working at Busch Gardens come September. Everyone keeps talking to me like Ive never been to the parks, or either events. I'm not stupid, and i will keep posting my speculations, even if im wrong. I know that the gp doesn't always run to the rides leaving houses open.. But it does happen. I know that the walkways are larger at universal than at bgt.. Because I've been to both too many times to count. Just because I do not post that often, it does not mean that I do not know anything. I've been on all of the boards since hauntfreaks.. I'm not new to this.. Speculation thread is more like a "defend yourself" thread..

Thanks Lyn! Everyone keeps saying im comparing the parks and events, but im not..

  6. Yeah I always hit the houses first. But being at a theme park, I can never pass up an opportunity to go on the rides . I also love the idea of hordes, they worked great at HOS... Im sure that HHN will make it a big hit

Yes! We need to give credit where credit is due. A&D can pull just about anything off. I have faith.

On the rides topic, I love that all of the gp ride the rides! Makes the house lines smaller. ;)

  7. Mr. Wesker gave the answer above, the streets of BG are smaller than at HHN, it was easier for them to do hordes, but it wont be as easy for us,

I'm just voicing my opinion. If hordes aren't going to work, and people are saying that we aren't getting traditional stationary scarezones, then what's going to work? I threw out my idea to you guys, and im wrong. So, what are we to expect this year with streets?

    Casey

  8. Sorry, by the time I typed my response, there were already three more replies. I, however, still think that a mixture of zones and hordes can work. Have a zone inside the gates, one in central park/hollywood, one outside of disaster, and one in sting alley, with hordes in NY, Shrek alley, outside of amity, and outside of IFF. Maybe im just being ignorant.. :/

  9. I think the fans of HOS and HHN are very different though,

because if they gave us the Forsaken this year, A repeat house, would people here be okay with that? people would throw a tantrum, but in HOS you get repeat houses every time,

so I don't know, different crowds,

what is even more funny is that Hollywood Does repeat houses, and people in Orlando Would still throw a fit if that were to happen

I wasn't necesarily comparing the two events . I just don't understand why roaming hordes wouldn't work at HHN? The only argument regarding hordes is "What about our sets?" and "The gp wont like that because they expect stationary zones with sets." I think we've been babied with our scarezones, and we all come to expect great sets with our scarezone when minimal sets/ roaming hordes can be just as effective. With scarezones you know where to go for your scares.. With roaming hordes you'll near know when a group of zombies or clowns are going to jump out at you. Id rather have an unexpected scare out of left field than "Oh, im in NY, according to the map there's chainsaws here.. Expect to see chainsaws." As for the repeat houses.. HHN has a bigger budget than HOS, and what HOS does works well for them. HHN can shell out the money for new houses every year, therefore we expect new houses. HOS obviously doesn't have the money to make it rain all over our asses, so they have to reuse houses. I enjoy both HHN and HOS, and that's because I don't walk into the event with preconcieved notions. If you walk into HHN this year saying "Omg, the streets are going to be amazing!" and then they don't have the street sets that youre used to.. Then you're going to be dissapointed.. Even though I think they will be able to do a wonderful job, and I'll still be pleased, there will still be the spoiled children who expect the same every year. Likewise with HOS. I've always enjoyed HOS, even with repeat houses, because I don't walk into the houses thinking that just because its a repeat house, then its going to suck. In fact, between HHN and HOS, Escape from Insanity is my all time favorite house.. And it was at HOS with multiple repeat houses. I think hordes will work at HHN, and I fully expect hordes at HHN this year with maybe two or three stationary zones. They can put the zones on the map, leave the hordes unmarked, and have a footnote telling you to watch your back as there's something lurking in every shadow.Casey

  10. HOS pulled off roaming hordes pretty well last year, from what I've heard. So why should we be all up in arms about losing sets in the streets? Why is the gp going to complain about losing scarezones if they didn't complain at other events? I believe Universal is throwing a curve ball at us this year, and we will be going back to our roots. I think we've been selfish with our event, because, as the event grows, so do the sets, and the costumes, and everything is so elaborate.. But now that everything is possibly changing, everyone is at each others throats beween those who know, and those who don't, and its absolutely ridiculous. A&D never fails to surprise us, and I feel like we are in for a treat. So, calm down, speculate without aggression, and accept change!

  11. It's early in the morning, but I'm going with...

    Marshmallow = Giant Peep

Or teenagers playing "chubby bunny"? Maybe the Easter portion has victim who has choked to death from large amounts of marshmallow treats stuffed into his/her mouth. I clearly watch "1000 Ways to Die" way too much. But it is a thought.

  12. The separation of the two was more of what I was asking about a couple post up

Do you think there could be a separation? If there was, the NY zone could extend from the Twister store to about about where the lockers are for The Mummy, and then the Sting Alley Zone, but I feel that wouldn't make sense. I mean, they're clearly going for new scarezone locations this year, but why would they do two separate zones in the NY area. But if they're the same zone, why would we have people cast in NY, and people cast in Sting Alley. It's possible I'm reading too much into this considering it's currently 5 am...

    Casey

  13. I have a friend who was cast in the Sting Alley scarezone. But we've also had confirmation on a NY scarezone.. are these going to be tired together, or the same scarezone? I don't know much about the casting process, obviously, but do they normally cast two areas for one zone? My friend also said that in orientation they were told there was going to be 8 zones.. then again, he also told me that this was the first year there would be two houses in SS23.... clearly that's incorrect, so I have no idea.

    Casey

edit: Apparently I don't know how to spell "orientation"..

  14. Both casts of twenty years of fear tonight! Wow! Especially cast A Ice Queen, and cast B Alice! I have a picture of the Ice Queen posing as a power ranger with the pig from Saw and a guy wearing a red power ranger shirt. Amazing. And Alice for continually yelling "GET ON YOUR KNEES! ALL THE DOWN!"

Also both Cindys and both Chances in Fear Revealed! Amazing.

And to Bryan and Matt in Saws N' Steam. *bows down*
