  1. I know that Fire Crew is scheduled to work every night that they're available, but that question was based off of the assumption that some nights there just aren't any roles for them to work..something I heard from word of mouth. Didn't realize it was that uncommon.

I always heard that regardless if there were roles or not, they would work every night they were available.

Even if they had to create a role/spot in a house/SZ for them...

  2. Do I need to bring my resume with me to the audition?

    Thanks!

I don't think it would hurt, but I rarely see anyone bring one with them. In the past I have seen people bring their head shots, but I would take your resume and then ask the people at sign in if you need to take it with you inside.

  3. Thanks for all the tips and info guys. I'm really nervous about tomorrow (though not as much as last year since this is my 2nd time auditioning) so I hope it goes well. I really, really hope I get something.

If you don't get something the first time I would definitely try again.....sometimes it takes a few times to get cast.

  4. Another dumb question for you all lol...

I finally learned the difference between ABU and Firecrew a few weeks ago...lol...but I was just thinking:

If I get Firecrew, and don't get cast for a particular night, then I'll be able to stay as a guest, right? On that note, I heard that requesting ABU makes it less likely to get a role. Well, what about requesting Firecrew? I didn't read anything saying that Firecrew made any difference.

One last thing: How often does one in Firecrew not get cast? I guess the question can be worded as, how often can I expect to have guest nights if I get cast as Firecrew?

I was worrying that i may not have the time to enjoy all of the houses this year because the two days that I have to request off I won't exactly be able to show up to the event...and I don't want to request ABU because I really want to get cast. But if I get Firecrew, it may be the answer to my prayers, IF it works the way I'm thinking it might work. Otherwise, I'll just try to get cast as a normal full time, and see later on in the event if getting a third night off for my enjoyment of the event would be doable.

ABU has to audition each night they show up. They are not guaranteed a spot if they don't fit the type of character that they need filled.

Firecrew, however, is guaranteed a role every night of the event. They do have to be cast each night, but they will be placed regardless.

  5. Here is a general type of question that I have. I am only asking those who have already attended the auditions this year.

My appointment is for 4PM on the July, 12. Based on your expirience, when should I show up. I noticed leaving work at Uni the other day, that people were waiting in a qeue line outside HR. For those who have already auditioned this year, how early did you show up before your audition?

I can be there as early as 1PM, but its probably not needed. Just wondering. Thanks!!!

For Reunions they said to be there no earlier than 1/2 hour before. I got there at 5 for a 5:30 appointment and was at my car around 6:30. That is much shorter of a time than in the past.

You can go and hand out until your time, but it will be just that.....hanging out.

  6. Well since I really want to be part of it more than I want to attend, I'll make myself for full availability and ask later (can't hurt to do so) and just play it by ear then. If I can't, well, can't complain if I'm cast.

    Man I hope I get in. unsure.gif

Most ASM's are cool about allowing you a night or 2 off to enjoy the event. I have yet to have one tell me no....

  7. However, they don't necessarily like to hire ABU. They hire them because they need them but they prefer those who have full availability. I did hear of some at the Reunion that didn't get hired because they requested ABU....not many, but it does happen.

  8. I've always only taken off 1 night. I put full availability and then when the run started asked my ASM if there would be a night that would inconvenience them the least if I took off. That way I most likely will be hired but can also see the event as a guest. I have never had an issue with getting a night off and I know people who take off several, but I always have open availability at the auditions and then request off after the event starts.

I haven't taken off more than one night in a row, so I don't know the best way to do the multiple nights off thing...

  9. Time is the biggest factor. You can't do a two-hour, two-act show in a theme park. The max amount of time you can do is 45 minutes... and even that is a long stretch, especially for something that is intended to be a diversion, not a key draw.

If nothing else the could do the bloodiest parts to help cool off the audience! ;)

  10. Hmm...it was established earlier that there's motorcycle specific parking in this particular lot, right? Does anyone know how badly it fills up, or if I should be golden finding a spot? My audition is at 8:50 PM anyhow, so even if motorcycle parking is filled up, I doubt that I'll have any issues finding a spot.

With your audition being that late, I would guess that you should have no issues finding a motorcycle spot at that time.

Just to be safe, I would still give yourself extra time to be sure.

  11. The removal of the overflow lot was a dick move.

We found that out the hard way last year when there were literally no spots so they had to have people park the the gated parking close to Gate 2. That, and people had to park in the outlying parking lots.

With the way they are doing auditions this year, you will be more likely to park in the Applicant Parking. I did when I went last night and there were a few to spare. With that being said, still make sure you give yourself ample time to get there and park.

  12. If you are coming from Sand Lake Road with I Drive behind you, turn right onto Turkey Lake Road. It'll be on your right about two miles down. I-4 West bound take the Universal exit (65 I believe, after the Kirkman exit) then make a left at the light. Then right onto Turkey Lake. It's right across the street from a Shell station and Papa John's.

Once you turn at the light you will drive to the stop sign after the cross walk and the turn left into the parking lot. There is a row of Applicant Parking that you can park in. If those are all full you will have to drive around until you find an empty spot.

If you are driving South on Kirkman, you will go across Conroy and over the bridge and the next light is Vineland. You will make a Right onto Vineland Road (there is a Walgreens on 1 corner, a Chevron on 1 and a Mobil on the other). You will go through 3 lights and then approximately 1/4 mile you will get into the left turn lane (the only one after you go through the 3rd light unless the new apt complex has added more lights or turning lanes) and ahead is the employee parking lot.

  13. But not everyone was getting cast.

They also asked our group if anyone spoke semi-fluent Spanish (not just a few words here or there) and, unlike another group, we weren't asked anything else. They wanted only our role last year and didn't ask for name and another group was told to answer in 1 word with their previous role.

I, too, like the smoothness of the way it is done now. I also think that new people miss out on the "right of passage" you go through of waiting in line for hours in the heat and/or rain to get your number and then going inside to the large room with everyone else to fill out your paperwork and wait.

  14. How so? If by "Unified Aggressor" you mean all the scareactors are coming at you, instead of passive scenes where you are watching other victims, I think you'll still see that. This year's concept feels more like you're the one taking chances and testing fate. I honestly don't think it's victim-based at all.

I think you are correct in your assumption of what he meant by Unified Aggressor. Last year we were told there would be no victims (scareactors who were the victims of torture/a killing placed in the scene) and that everyone would be after the guests.

  15. OH ok. In the video it was hard to tell but to me he looked a lot like your sig :)

I also know because the "Doctor" that's up to the right in the middle of the last room was the guy on the other cast. I also did a much different scare than my tag-out did.
