  1. Adding in my two cents to agree with Halloween weekend being fairly dead (pun intended) -- it's been that way for years, Halloween is infamous for being a slow day. : ))

I would have to agree with that statement. I was surprised, however, last year that Halloween was as busy as it was. I am not saying it was as busy as it gets during the middle of the run, just that it was busier than I expected for a Halloween night.

  2. I like the billboards....however......I don't think it's that catching for someone who isn't a huge HHN fan. I think it is definitely something you look at twice and then aren't fully sure what you are looking at. If they were looking for a billboard to peak your interest, they have achieved it.

I like it but am not sure what anyone who hasn't seen the website will think the event is about this year.

  3. I also don't appreciate it when someone behind me gets scared and tries to go through me to get away!!!! When I was walking through Friday the 13th with a group of cast-mates, these 2 HS aged guys kept getting scared and basically running into me. I kept having to walk faster so that I could get away from them. Unfortunately, I also missed parts of the house by doing this.

Same year, same night we also went through the Leatherface house and had 4 people run into us when we got to the "sheet scene". We were 2 people and we were walking down the middle of the wider section and they apparently couldn't run around us.....

On a non-HHN sidenote: I really dislike the word anyways. It is not really grammatically correct and it just sounds dumb! I was taught by a grammar-natzi English teacher and have kinda become one myself. Since I'm on this tangent, I think people should learn the difference between there, their & they're before they go into message boards and start posting!

There = A place +++ Look over there for the scaractor.

Their = Something that belongs to them +++ They really love their new Leatherface costumes.

They're = They are +++ While they're at HHN they will be waiting in long lines.

    I'm done for the moment....

  4. What do the wheelchair people do? Just bypass that portion? Or skip the house all together?

Yes, they are taken around the "upstairs" portion of the house. In WEH, it was a dual house where there were 2 identical houses and one was actually a little wider for wheelchair guests.

  5. Being on Cast B doesn't generally allow you to experience the event before clocking in and definitely not while on the clock. In my experience (not the rule) Cast B will close the house on non-peak nights (Sun - Thurs) while Cast A will close on Fri & Sat nights.

  6. really? I was walked through all 3 houses by my ASM or Coordinator. Last year my PC came through with us as well. I thought every house did that.

I know in Interstellar they had us in the break area and then came and got us by room and so we didn't get to see the whole house until executive preview (not me, of course) partly because our house wasn't totally finished.

I actually don't remember last year being taken through the whole house prior to being shown our spots.....

  7. Yes, you will get to walk through it. As for a tour, maybe not so much of a formal tour with stops along the way....I've only worked in 1 house permenantly (Interstellar Terror - 2008) and we didnt have time to take a formal tour.

No, in IT we didn't get a formal tour, but in PS:HFTH we were taken through the house and explained what the rooms were about. Then we were all taken back to our rooms so we could get to know the person/people in them. I guess in most of the houses I have been in, we weren't walked through the houses but just taken to our respective spots.

  8. 1st rehearsal will start out at the Horror Make-up Show venue. There will be your house/street and several others in the one venue. You will get to meet your cast, Stage Mgr, Asst Stage Mgr & Coordinator. All of the heads of HHN will be there along with all of the Stage Managers (SM) and Performance Captains. One of the for-mentioned people will go over the SOP with you and you will fill out several papers that will be required. You will then leave to see your house/street. If you are in a house they might (depending on your performance captain) let your tour the whole house and then take everyone to their specific spots. You will then be given some clues &/or specific direction about your role. You will be able to talk to your scene partner (if you have one) and get familiar with your area. Your performance captain will walk through so you can practice your scare and they will then give everyone pointers. These two nights are quite a bit of "hurry up and wait" but it is also fun and educational.

I have never been a street scareactor so I can give you no insight as to what they do.

  9. We are always told to "scare forward" so as to not slow/stop the movement of the line. This doesn't always happen because sometimes your focus isn't actually scared and someone behind them reacts. I have seen people stop and wait for the room to clear so they could sprint through it. We, as scareactors, don't always try to scare someone into stopping. ;)

  10. I auditioned last Tues (a week ago yesterday) and haven't gotten called yet. My girlfriend was called tonight (auditioned and cast same night) and offered a role in SS23A. While on the phone she was told that all of the returning scareactors should be cast this week.

I am excited to hear what I get this year. I wanted to be on the streets one year, but don't think that'll be the case this year.

Congrats to all who have heard and good luck to all that haven't.
