  1. Odd, it seems my post was deleted. Maybe Dr. Jimmy. I think your close on some things but really off on others.
  2. You also have to remember that a large portion of this years event was thrown out after certain members left the team and the event was rethought and planned in a new and completely original way. Things where thought of and done very differently this year in terms of planning.
  3. D.O.W. in this case does not stand for Died of Wounds Also, Im not sure if this has been mentioned but there is a very popular Irish tale involving a Lantern. I can't believe I didn't think of it till some one mentioned Jack O' Lantern on the LT fb page. Here is what was posted on Facebook:
  4. You're way off. Run: Hostile Territory was based off of movies such as saw and Hostile. Mostly Hostile as the story for the house was rich men would come to pay for the ability to torture people. In 2006 I can't recall any house that had a "Game" feel to it.
  5. My understanding is that Tent 2 is taking it's inspiration from a different medium than usual. During the first few years of the event Universal didn't rely on their movie properties for houses. Why does the event HAVE TO HAVE a movie house. Why do we as fans demand a movie house? Some of HHN most popular houses are not movies made into a house. Houses like Screamhouse, Psychoscareapy, scary tales, Body Collectors, and the original run house. Why shouldn't we be demanding more unique houses?
  6. In this case DOW may not mean Died of Wounds.
  7. Grrrrrrrrrrr, I missed my phone call today about my role. Got a voicemail saying they would call me back on Friday. No number left to try and reach them. I swear they're doing this on purpose.
  8. I agree. It certainly makes for boring speculation if the first thing people do is just assume its a movie house or try to relate it to a previous house. We have all this information on the Hollywood scarezone, a possible greek house and other small tidbits that we could be speculating on but all people want to do is talk about how they think psychoscareapy is coming back, or the Crazies, or how excited they are because they think for sure Freddy is coming back. Im all for letting people speculate till the cows come home but it get annoying to hear the same thought over and over even after it's been stated by people in the know that they are way off. How about this for speculation: Universal is holding auditions on saturday and sunday this week for various acting roles for Bill and Ted, Halloween Horror Nights, and Grinchmas. However, theres no official audition for the RHPS tribute. Could this be confirmation that there will not be RHPS this year or is it possible they will secretly cast the show from those auditioning to sing in the Grinchmas show?
  9. It was a pretty awesome scene in the movie but im not sure the overall feel of helplessness the scene created would work in a haunted house where you spend maybe 30 sec at most in a scene. I am interested to see if the pitchfork means an actual pitchfork. Once again though, I have a feeling this house wont be too close to the crazies based on the dows but we'll see if maybe some inspirration caries over.
  10. I'll be at orientation on the 5th as well.
  11. Im not buying any of it. The HHN logo could have been easily photo shopped off the banner on the current site and the photo of the women looks way to fake be anything actually in the parade building. If this was actually from inside the parade building I would expect to see a set piece or something that proves where in a museum. Not some badly drawn image of what clearly is suppose to be Bloody Mary.
  12. So your going to base this years theme off of what TJ said in a podcast that was post SEPTEMBER of 2009. You don't think things could have changed since then? Insiders have already stated that this years event was overhauled from the original concept.
  13. I feel like we as fans just naturally expect for this year to be a reunion year with movie houses and the return of the icons because thats what we know from the past. We have gotten our selfs into a position where we have just assumed that everything is a repeat house this year so we've started making conclusions from things like vans and non-descriptive role titles. We're not taking the time to think outside the box. It's also been assumed that this years theme has to directly relate to the scarezone that popped up last year. Maybe at one point in time it did. But haven't inside sources stated that the event was overhauled significantly after certain individuals had left. I also think we are also misinterpreting the website. I feel that people are reading to much into statements like "a new era of horror begins" and "built upon nineteen years' worth of ghoulish creatures and nightmarish frights." Lets look at these statements for a second. First the obvious, a new era of horror begins because we have reached a new plateau in the number of years the event has been running. HHN has had multiple Era's already and the website split them up into four sections: Origins, Early years, expansions, and iconic era. If we are entering a NEW era, then the event has to distinguish itself from PAST eras. I don't know about you but a reunion year doesn't sound like something NEW to me. Now the statement I think people are putting to much stock in is "built upon nineteen years' worth of ghoulish creatures and nightmarish frights." I think this is where everyone has gotten the idea that this year is a reunion year because they are taking the statement to literal. Every year of HHN has been built off the last. Each year the powers that be try to find a new way to further the event while learning from the past what works and what doesn't work. You can reference the past without ever actually including the past. I think its very plain to see we are in for an entirely new year this year with a subtle nod to the past. This event will not be a re-visioning of the past through old houses and icons but instead will be built on the lessons and legacy of the past while delivering all new scares and themes based on original ideas.
  14. Was it year 13 that had lost continent split between fire and ice? There was an ice and fire queen in that scarezone.
  15. If I where a betting man, I would place all of my money on what "Side B" is saying. Also, while not entirely accurate, I personally feel the answer to what a Dow is, is fairly simple.
  16. I would actually be more willing to say Jaws has held more than just one icon house. I would be willing to count the F13 house and Saw house as both being "icon" houses. So it has had an icon house for the last three years in a row (longer if you want to count the Storyteller being in the Dungeon of Terror at sweet 16.) Plus it was the location of the Dungeon of Terror for the first two years of the event.
  17. I would die of extreme happiness if there was a Doctor Who reference. The tardis and the phone booth both being used seems to me just insanely epic. Even if the doctor wasn't involved it would be cool to just have the tardis.
  18. I def think the right icon could do well in terms of selling merch. Sad thing is, I only think that Jack could be that right icon.
  19. C_D as a former scene mate I would think you would have more faith in me. I get what your saying though and I could see maybe the pitchfork scene appearing in the house but the overall house isn't inspired by The Crazies. Now referencing the Crazies? I couldn't say.
  20. Well I can say with 100% certainty that it is not a house based on the movie the Crazies cause there are no movie houses this year. I am not saying that the house is based on the comic or even inspired by the comic but I think there are things I mentioned worth thinking about in terms of speculation.
  21. Okay, so here is some random speculation on tent 2. So now we have Full Dow and Half Dow as two roles in the house. I took into consideration we have a possible military theme and I typed DOW MILITARY into google. One of the results was that DOW is a common military abbreviation for "Died of Wounds." So it's possible the role title refers to individuals who have died from being attacked or wounded some how. One would be a full body figure with wounds and the other could be the classic half body corpse that is still living. However I also tried to think out of the box when I discovered a name of a character called Dow Cook from an old comic series called Fusion. Here is a description of the comic from wikipedia: And here is a character description for Dow Cook: While the information on the comic is limited, but I wonder if any individual in the series who has been cybernetically enhanced is refereed to as a "Dow." This works for roles titled Full Dow and Half Dow cause it could mean a person who has been fully altered and a person who is half altered. Here a photo of the comic:
