  1. There were masks and costumes last year that resembled specific zombies in the show (like Jawless and the Sheriff's Deputy) but only two roles based off of named walkers: the Well Walker and Bicycle Girl. The problem with doing actual characters from the show, specifically in the streets, is that they would have to be considered speaking roles (at least I would think that they'd have to be). Zombies who can't stalk and scare-actors who aren't supposed to directly talk with/to guests... it's going to be an interesting year.

  2. I wasn't cast but I think it had to do with my height. Out of 40 something people in my group.. they only cast like 6 and all of them were tall and thin. We got the same "what's your favorite horror movie" question. It was very fun and I am glad that I went. Congrats to those who were cast. I look forward to you scaring the bejesus out of me!

I had the same thing happen at the reunion audition: they only took about 8 out of our 40, and I wasn't one of them (after multiple years doing this event). 6 days later I got a "Congratulations, you've been cast!" email. It's been a pretty rough year so far for auditions but hang in there.

  3. Bicycle girl is in the house too no? but not on the floor? I Saw a zombie that had hair just like her, and a chest costume piece of rotting flesh, was that Bicycle walker?

As of Thursday, bicycle girl is in fact in the house... in the storage room... and on her "feet"... I ought to know... ;)

Last night I caught the massive shift change horde exit. AWESOME!!!!!

Also the cast was much more energetic and , er, hungry. This makes the house much better.

Thank you, Sir! : ) Glad to hear that our extra energy is noticable! Lets see if it keeps up in this heat. hah

  4. Has anyone caught some pictures of The Walking Dead cast change for the house? I keep seeing A LOT of people snapping shots of us coming and going from first and second set (when it's still light out), but none have surfaced on here or Flicker yet. : ( This will probably be my only way of getting a picture of me in character, as I don't actually walk in the hords that we do with the street casts.

  5. In my opinion, this sounds closer to Richard Matheson's Hell House (when I think heinous deeds, I almost immediately think Emeric Belasco). If not that, then maybe something slightly tamer, such as the lore surrounding Ohio's own Franklin Castle? In 2010, we had a source via Twitter named Emeric Belasco, and if I remember correctly Dr. Jimmy went into get detail about the name's source material in that year's Speculation thread. Some online sources that I’ve found cite Hell House as being loosely based on two real life haunts (Franklin Castle, originally the Tiedemann House, in Cleveland, Ohio, and Waverly Hills Sanitarium near Louisville, Kentucky).

  6. Not to take away from Speculation, but... just to throw another two cents out there, HHN is predominantly startle scares. As both a scare-actor and a guest, that's what I've observed the most over the past 4 years. And In all seriousness, I’ve startle MYSELF multiple times over the years on set, in costume. It’s a lot of noise, light, and motion for your brain to try to process through a latex mask/prostatic and or a pound of airbrush. I scare easy though, like the majority of the general public, and at the end of the day the general public is who Universal unfortunately has to cater to. For them, HHN scares are no different than a jumpy part in a horror movie. Instead of “Ride the Movies” it’s “Live the Movies” for them when they go to this event, hence the existence of IP mazes. There will always be some legitimate/complicated scares, but adversely there will always be more startles and cheap thrills. The streets, to me, and some houses like Scary Tales and Winter’s Night, are "beautiful" scares: you’re meant to take in and really enjoy the hard work that A&D and Costuming have done. Finally, I can understand why some people who want more aggressive or raw scares get frustrated with the event; it’s really hard to be frightened when you’re in a conga line of people and all the actors are trained to scare and then immediately retreat. It’s also hard to linger and really interact with guest when in the back of your mind you know that a lot of these people are here for one reason only, and that’s to get drunk and harm you.

  7. As for your question, someone like me feels the house makes more sense for everyone involved. How can you expect Penn and Teller to drop their show in Vegas and their tour to do HHN every event night? The house allows them to have a presence at the event without having to give up all the money they could make touring and in Vegas. The flip side is Universal saves a ton of money by having them do a house and not a show. Obviously a show makes more sense if your looking at it from the standpoint with no budget constraints.

Very good points. It only makes sense for them to do a show because of the association with their profession, and their names are going to attract the general public into the park regardless; unfortunately, you’re still going to have people coming under the false pretense of, “Well, they’re magicians, so naturally they’re doing a show for the event.” If you’re not smart enough to research what you’re paying an upwards of $90 for then I don’t know what to say.

Logistically, where could you even house their show? The only arena big enough to hold and control the kind of guest turnout they'll attract is Blue Man Group or Hard Rock. Both are too far away from the rest of the event geographically, and Universal isn't going to stop a permanent venue/show to compensate for a seasonal one. If they did do a show, it’d have to be a very limited, separately ticketed event.

  8. It has worked for Hollywood since 1998. Clive Barker (1998, 1999, 2000), Rob Zombie (1999, 2000), WWF's The Undertaker (2000), Alice Cooper (2011).

I've never been to the West Coast event, but I always assume, year after year, that Rob Zombie will have a maze out there. Maybe this is a trial run for P&T to become Orlando's staple celebrity guest, like Zombie has been for Hollywood? I wouldn't say the two are directly comparable, but to me it's still a possibility. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  9. I would love to see Michonne and the two zombie "pets" in the house. That would be such an awesome scareactor combination.

This would actually be a good way to get around her specific, copyrighted character details; the two "pets" (her husband and husband's best friend) are armless and jawless in the comic. Two normal scare-actors on leashes, combined with her hood covering her hair and face, maybe change the katana replica to a different type of sword or a scythe, and that's far enough away to be a knock-off, in my opinion. It’d work great in a Scare Zone especially.

  10. Well the nurses have very tight form fitting outfits. The were so tight on the actresses in the movie they had to pretty much sew them onto them.

Good thing the breaks are long, cause that looks impossible to go to the bathroom in. lol

Does anybody remember the house "Dead Exposure?" Well, there was this one part where you were in a big room filled with 20-30 zombie actors, and you had to walk through them, and you could only see them with the lights off rather than on.

We called it the cage (was the room after my park scene).
