  1. Oh, and for anyone who's about to waste their tokens to try other workarounds...don't. I attempted to close the window, and that of course showed the same results as a refresh. I then attempted to start on another game, and was docked the 60 tokens when starting that game. I went back to the original game that i closed the window on...and was docked another 60 tokens.

Uni means business now. Glad that I have enough tokens to blow on whatever else they throw at us at this point, though. And man, "The House" just keeps coming together more and more.

  2. Hmm. Looks like token risk is 60 now (sorry if this has been mentioned) and I know that I'll be burned at the stake here, and that Universal will inevitably fix it just because I'm saying it, but refreshing before a game is over will still let you retain your tokens without risking losing them.

I for one love the feature because it lets me play around with the games without having to stop. If any of the higher ups at Universal are reading this, and considering how to fix this loophole, please at least consider a way for us to continue to play the games, maybe without the opportunity to gain tokens for a while. Otherwise, we can just register new accounts endlessly using fake email addresses. Either way we get to play around with the games :P.

EDIT: Token risk of 60 seems to be for crypts only...getting a token risk of 30 with the TV game.

Edit to my edit: Played the TV game again....and it had a risk of 60. Maybe it ramps up or something now?

Edit to my edited edit: Yup, it ramps up now. Just got a 120 token risk. Seems like refreshing before losing will continue to build up the risk, thus making it so when you do win, you get a ton of tokens. . No wonder the top people in the leaderboard have 5000+ tokens. Incoming fix? Lol.

  3. Ok, so lets make THIS thread a Heterosexual singles event and if the LGBT community would like to do something similar, start up a "LGBT Singles Night" Thread. Does that meet everyone's needs? Its like we are making a mountain out of molehill for the sake of political correctness and not hurting anyone's feelings. Anyone can show up to EITHER event to meet single people, but just keep in the back of your mind that the night you go, Hetero or LGBT, will have different groups. Yes, new friends can be made at either event, but, yes, you might have the wrong approach applied to you if you are not of the persuasion aimed at for that particular night.

So, moving on, event is 6 weeks away, is there any mutual interest of girls and guys attending a meeting night?

    ...Mike

Less about political correctness and more about avoiding wrong approaches, awkwardness, and confusion :P.

But I agree with your post. And we've obviously had interest from both genders about the meetup, we still haven't thought up a date yet though. It's been suggested that we do opening night. I'm ok with that, though I'm usually very fast paced on opening night, and would probably show no interest in anything that isn't a house or scarezone.

So maybe having extra dates throughout the event would be a good idea too. We can do something like every week or every other week, and hopefully we can make them all FFP dates, like say...every or every other Thursday or Sunday.

  4. The rabbit's foot thing might have a lot to do with the hand. Think about it...what if the icon takes appendages for good luck? A rabbit's foot didn't bring him very much luck, but a man's hand may have at one point.

Though that would remind me too much of HoS's Silvie of last year that took fingers as a prize.

  5. Sorry for starting such a fuss. O.o

    Casey

Well, you brought up a very valid point that needed to be brought up, because honestly I never thought about it nor of the potential issues. I don't want anyone to be excluded due to their sexual preference, but I also don't want things to be confusing or awkward for anyone at all. That'd be counterproductive. Jimmy is right...a singles night does have its own particular dynamic as opposed to a normal meetup. I think that in the end, it just depends on the person and what they're comfortable with...having a separate meetup for LGBT might be a superb idea. That doesn't mean they're excluded from this meetup...but that with a separate meetup, there'll be less awkwardness and everyone will be in their own element.

    As Jimmy said:

Why would I want to be with straight guys looking for girls? They would not be interested in me, and it would be very uncomfortable for them as they would foolishly think I was there to hook up with one of them. Also any single women who where there would assume I was interested in them and flirt with me. I sometimes enjoy flirting with women "just for fun", but only when it is fully understood that I am not really interested. Otherwise all sorts of awkward situations arise.

If we create a different meetup, the LGBT community of this board can have their own thing going on without ANY fear of misunderstanding. And, as I said, this doesn't mean they're necessarily excluded from this one...it just depends on what the individual would be comfortable with, and if they're willing to deal with any possible awkward situations that may arise from participating in this one.

    What does everyone else think?

And not that it really matters, but I'm not gay or a member of the LGBT community, and as such I'm not the one who should be making the separate meetup, so that's something that someone else will have to take the initiative to set up if it were agreed to.

  6. The telephone and gravestones are easy because they are the same every time. The televisions seem to be pretty easy when you follow the advice given in this thread to pick all four corners first. But it still seems like you do end up with a 50/50 chance at the end anyways. The keys thing seems impossible, and on the pick a card at the beginning, I ALWAYS choose wrong and lose points. That part is just stupid.

As for the cards, always pick the card that does not have one that matches it. As in, if there are two blue and a yellow, pick yellow. Two yellow and a blue, pick blue. I've never lost tokens doing it that way, because I think that blue=bluelight/crypts, yellow=yellow light/TVs. If there're two blues, there's a chance of picking a dud. If there is only one, then it's guaranteed to be crypts.

    See what I'm saying?

  7. Um hello, I don't usually post in here as I'm not single, but the issue of gays and single meet-ups being raised compelled me to respond.

As a gay man I would feel uncomfortable in a straight or "mixed" singles meet-up environment.

If single gays want to have a "singles night" meet up for themselves that is another thing entirely, they could meet and hook up, or not, without any fear of misunderstanding etc. that could arise.

I am not suggesting "segregation" by any means, a mixed group of gay and straight friends just out to enjoy HHN is always a good thing. But this thread is clearly about a "singles night" meet up, which has a whole different dynamic.

I think you said exactly what I was trying to say (well except for the being gay part lol). I was trying to make clear that it'd probably be really awkward and confusing if we mixed things up for something like a singles night, and that I personally wouldn't mind it, but I know that other people probably would...and it could cause quite a bit of confusion. Just a mixed meet-up then I don't think there'd be any issues at all, and sexuality shouldn't even begin to come into play.

I'm just being cautious because I'm trying to not be offensive or come off in the wrong way.

  8. ^Good tip.

I've claimed #1 on the leader boards. Takes a LOT of patience, and I've done it all via crypts. There is really no set pattern.

This. I only pasted the patterns that I made to show that it really is random.

Warning I think universal are changing the codes daily as the ones I had a lot of success with yesterday are not working today. Sneaky little hobbits lol

See above. They aren't changing anything, it's just luck of the draw. It really is random, unless it's a very very long pattern. However, using a few methods you can surmise what will or won't be a "bad" choice if and only if you've already made at least one "good" choice.

  9. Well, I wouldn't mind any LGBT joining the group, as long as we were all straight forward about everything. Wow, bad choice of words there haha. I mean, we need to be clear with each other, so as to avoid any unwanted advances...some people overreact over things like that. Personally, I'm 100% straight, but I don't mind it if a gay man flirts with me...as long as he's aware that I'm not interested, and that I don't mean offense when I don't flirt back.

  10. Sorry for the double post, but I think that this is a pretty useful tip, so I'm giving it its own post.

Rather than refreshing the page when you either know you're going to lose, or are too unsure to continue, you can actually still click on "pick a card" at the bottom left of the screen. If you can't see your cursor, just right click, then click on the screen again. Then it brings you back to the cards without losing you any tokens, which is the same thing as refreshing, just with a lot less time spent. I don't think that there are any negative repercussions to doing this, as I am currently on the leaderboards after doing this for a while.

  11. Ok, I have nothing better to do, and tried to crack the pattern for the past two hours. I think that it really is random. I recorded the results of my games if I was able to get two things or more "certain." This goes for both games. I'd make templates that I would edit, and occasionally I'd be able to combine some when I was able to double check and make sure they worked. On a few occasions I risked my tokens when my own guide told me that I would be right...and I was right. So I dunno....either it's all random, or there's a very long pattern.

For the crypt game, my template was:

    "1-123

    2-123

    3-123

    4-123

    5-123"

If a key did not work for a door, the number would have a dash go through it (like if key 1 didn't work with door 2, it'd be 1-1-3). With trial and error, I was able to begin figuring out what each pattern would be, but it's getting that first key to work that's the whole issue. I was at the point of trying to figure out which combination was the most likely for all of them to share, when I came to the conclusion that it's probably 100% random, and that I really need to do something better with my time lol.

For the TV game, I made boxes. This game was a lot more random than the crypt game, though I made most of my tokens from it. I'd make little boxes as a template. X=static TV. T=Technical Difficulties TV. Any number 1-9=TV playing a movie. Template looked like:

    "XXX

    XXX

    XXX"

As I said, I really was bored, and didn't have much else to do. Now I'm going to go get some fresh air or something...haha. Below are the results as I typed them in notepad. They're unedited, so a few aren't completed. If you try one, and you get 66% of the way there and fail...don't blame me. You just found a new pattern lol. Be sure to make notes of what doesn't work, and if you chose the correct pattern, usually you can see what the next choice "has" to be.

  12. Concerning the late night tv horror house I expect this to be set in the 60's due to clues on the puzzle. The old style telephone, the poster about color tvs (as I recall they came out in the 1960s and the lava lamp. I don't think this will have much if any connection to the theme this year.

Lava lamps make me think '70s. Color TVs were invented in the 50s, became popular in the late 60s, and became standard by the 70s, but a lot of movies were still made in black and white around that time. Of course being born in '91, this is WAY before my time, so I'm speaking not from memory but from what I've studied.

Also, I just want to make my plug about Dr. Paul Bearer again. The TV host reminds me so much of Dr. Paul! Now, it's probably because I had already made the connection, so I dunno...maybe he won't be involved. But I think that he would fit this fairly well.

What makes me really make this connection is that this seems a lot like our "funny" house this year, especially with it being set in the 60s-70s...usually our houses set in the past are the "funny" houses. Those that don't know of Dr. PB should know that he was very famous in the Central Florida area from the early 70s to 1996 when he died after an open heart surgery. He was famous for his "Horrible" movies on Saturday afternoons and...puns. Here's an example:

If this is our "funny" house this year, then I don't see how they can't involve Dr. Paul somehow, even if it's a fleeting allusion. Of course, this is all speculation based on my thoughts and opinions, but hey, that's what the speculation thread is for.

  13. The way that relies on black light so much makes me wonder if we're getting a 3-D house.

I was thinking the same thing. We haven't had a 3-D house in a good little while...the last was in 2007, right? A four year gap should be plenty. I'm hoping that we get something similar to Dead Exposure again, though...something with a similar concept, but still original idea/theme. Seems like this would work perfectly.

  14. If anyone would like to step up and become the lead planner(s) for this, that would be cool. Maybe a male and a female to organize the meet(s)? I'm not single so I'll leave it all up to you guys. Enjoy and have fun, but as mentioned please no "stalking" or "craziness", as we wouldn't want HNN to be associated with that.

    Yay, so it's official now.

For the record, if any females want to stalk me, I'm game :P.

    (I keed I keed)

  15. OPEN CALL AUDITIONS

    Saturday, 7/23 and Sunday, 7/24

    ACTORS

    MUSICAL THEATER PERFORMERS

Universal Orlando Resort® is now accepting audition appointments for seasonal event and show positions for Universal's Halloween Horror Nights®

I was curious about those. They say something about preparing a one minute monologue. I'm guessing that they're only hiring experienced actors, or people who've gone to school for it? Lol.

  16. They asked my group what our favorite Halloween Costume was.

When we were lined up about to go into the audition room, the lady who lined us up explained to us how this will be the "easiest job interview of your life" and then told us what we would be asked before we even went into the audition room.

I wouldn't sweat it. Don't worry...I sweated it too! But as they say in this thread, they're only looking for body types.

  17. My favorite moment was during HHN 14. I was with a female friend, who just decided on the ride there she wanted to date me. She broke up with me the next day though lol...guess she just wanted someone to hold her hand through the houses.

Anyhow, we were going through Ghost Town (amazing house, of all of the sequel houses they make, I hope they remake this one) and there was old tattered cloth hanging from the ceiling as a transition from one scene to the next. My friend was so scared that she was dragging me through the house quite fast. Well, the tattered cloth had a hole in it...just the right size for my head. So of course it gets caught around me, and it wraps around my neck, and my friend is pulling me so damn hard that it's cutting off circulation, and I can't breath! She almost hung me...in the Ghost Town house. I was hitting her harm frantically, but she just wouldn't look back, thinking that I was trying to scare her or something. Finally she looked back, freaked out, let go of me, and I fell down....took me a second to catch my breath and we enjoyed the rest of the house.

I have another favorite "thing" but it's not really a moment, per se'. I've heard these guys talked about before, but never talked to them, and don't really know too much about them other than a few other people know of them/have seen them.

Last year I went to HHN more times than I'd ever gone before with my ffp, and began to notice a few trends each time I went.

The "thing" that I'm talking about is seeing this man, who always was wearing a tophat, pushing around an older lady in a wheelchair. Almost every night I went, I'd see them going through the scarezones, or sitting at a restaurant, just walking around, or something. They were always there.

I thought it was pretty awesome to see them...I'd always wondered about them though. If I see them this year I'm going to try and introduce myself, and get to know them. Any granny who comes to HHN is a cool granny in my book, same goes for those who wear top hats.

  18. Think they'll resort to sliders? :P

If they have just a SINGLE chainsaw in the streets...I'll be happy. HHN just isn't HHN without chainsaws. Imo they were a little bit overdone last year, but their presence was much obliged and appreciated. I only think that they were overdone because of the reactions I heard from a few (very whiny) people. I didn't mind the omnipresence of the saws at all.
