  1. I'd love to see your Rorschach test results (aka ink blot test)! I see just as many unicorns and leprechauns in the frame of the lantern as I do clowns, ghouls and ghosts!
  2. OK, I've been reading over the speculation threads since they started, but WHY is it considered "carved in stone truth" that there are NO MOVIE HOUSES? Really, it's a Horror Nights in a park owned by a movie studio...no movie related houses makes no sense. EVERYTHING thus far is 100% speculation so why is it considered gospel that there are no movie houses? OK, flame away....
  3. http://www.destinationthemepark.com/park/2010/07/breaking-hhn-xx-house-spy-shots/ Some new pics there. Not sure if they were taken from visitor approved areas (I doubt it, but can't be sure...I'm 1200 miles away and only go down 1 time a year during HHN so I always have access to the areas).
  4. "Unbridled" would mean unmarried! ....or out of control, wild, non restrained, or uncontrolled. Same difference.
  5. As you can see by my sig, I've only gone a few years...and due to EVERYBODY I know getting married in October of the Sweet 16 year, I've never been to a reunion year and haven't seen anybody prior to HHN XIV. I know it's not a popular sentiment so I've kept it to myself, but I'd be REALLY happy if it were a reunion! Most of the characters look awesome and while I'm a bit disappointed to see Freddy, Jason and Leatherface so soon...I understand UNIVERSAL needing movie Icons in their marketing and alot of new fans have been brought in to the movie connections. Makes sense. For the rest of your sakes....I hope it's a rope-a-dope for a full on new year...but I'm hoping for a Best of the Best Year
  6. If you go back to page 11 or so, you'll see it's clearly a garage door. Any local Floridians with a season pass, PLEASE get a pic of the "Swingset / Forest" that's seems to be pretty visable from the Jaws ride Side note about Jaws that has nothing to do with anything. I think it's such a BORING ride, but at last year's HHN we did it around Midnight one and it was awesome (yes, we were more than slightly inebriated) . Doing it in the pitch dark added SO MUCH to the ride and the heat from the gas dock was just insane!
  7. I know, I know, I know....no movie houses. BUT - If this doesn't sound like a Nightmare on Elm Street, I don't know what does. Nightmare man = Freddy. OK, 50 people said that already. But think of the movies with the little girls singing "1-2 Freddy's coming for you...." jumping rope in a playground. The fustercluck of different kinds of locations could be EASILY dispelled as you fall asleep and go into a dream and dreams don't have to make sense, you just keep warping from setpiece to setpiece. Again, I've read all the posts about no Movie Houses, but this is sounding more and more like an Elm St redux, but an "in dream" house. Just my $0.02, flame away.... EDIT: Also, the talk of it looking like a Psyche Center / Loonie Bin...wasn't Elm St 3 mostly in a Psyche Ward for all the "kids" who refused to sleep?
  8. Or unless someone drew up the picture themselves, stuck it on a scanner to make it look more "authentic" and "snuck" and that's why it appears to be backlit by a scanner bulb. That's my own uneducated $0.02 guess
  9. I think it would be cool if the door was closed and you had to walk behind the van...and a scareactor was on the other side and would just BEAT on the door periodically scaring the bejesus out of whoever was walking behind the van. A cheap and easy scare, but one that would surely get a reaction out of anybody walking by.
  10. Now for my serious answer... Do you NEED to drink, no...of course not. If you don't drink that's great...I have a few friends who don't touch alcohol and I have a lot of respect for them knowing how much they had to be picked on in Highschool/College. Do I drink, yes I do...and a lot. I go down with 3-8 other guys and we just have a blast. We're all mid-30s with real lives and jobs and not Fratboys who drink all the time. Also, we live in a range encompassing about 80 miles back here in NY. So we go to Florida together, have no job or family responsibilities, stay in a hotel 1 mile from Universal and take a $5 cab ride so driving is a non-factor, and we get to sleep in the next day. Drinking also slows your reflexes and makes you less perceptive, and while this sounds like an alcoholic trying to justify their addiction, it sure adds to the scares you get when you're a group of middle aged men with no screaming girls with you and get very few scares. Now, this might sound pompous, but we're cool drunks. We might be a little sillier, but we're HAPPY drunks...and not fighters or grabasses. So our drinking doesn't interfere with others enjoyment other than maybe an occasional bump or lean or something. If I went down there when I was 21 and on vacation...yeah...I'd be one of the assholes we all hate. At 36, I'm just some guy constantly with a beer in his hand who keeps to his group of friends
  11. Anybody who voted NO is either: A) Lying Underage with a crappy fake ID C) An Employee who's working Ha ha ha, didn't know that B followed by ) was the shortcut for the smile!
  12. Rumor seems to suggest they will have it open...and not just because the nets they put up, someone (supposedly in the know) said they were bending over backwards to open it for HHN. Not sure if it was here or another site, but I saw that looking for HHN rumors a while ago. Last year, they were still testing it every night with the water dummies. Someone at the park said something about with the number of cars running at once they need all break areas which really break up the ride, and they were testing to see what they could change to make it a smoother ride. It was just a regular employee that we asked and told us that, so take it with a grain of salt. I really hope that was true...because every time you get going on the ride, you hit the break area and slow way down. I was personally really disappointed with the ride. We had the 5-day pass for the parks and did it twice the one AM with no line and didn't do it again for the rest of our stay. This is all speculation on my part...other than the fact that I didn't care much for the ride
  13. LOVED that movie...rented it on a whim based on a Netflix "recommened if you like..." thing and was VERY pleasantly surprised. A masked guy following you...and seeing some of the people he already caught up with (trying not to give anything away) would be pretty sweet! A bathtub scene would be required...as well as a chest (with a surprise inside). Could be epic
  14. UTH is a day time tour that's pretty cheap, I think like $40 (don't quote me on that). You and a small group meet at a ticket kiosk and you get a tour of approxomiately 3 houses with the lights turned on. They used to not allow photography, now they do. So it's like a behind the scenes tour. If someone is available who helped create the event, they may join the tour to give you some insight. The RIP tour, which I've never done, is several hour long HHN guided tour, where you get to to go the front of the line for every house with your guide, they reserve up front seats for Bill & Ted's, and I think you get VIP credentials for rest of the night that allow you to skip the lines for rides (but not the houses). If you've been there before, you've seen the little groups with a tour leader carrying some kind of light up thing (like a pumpkin over their head) followed by a dozen people with the same colored glowstick around their necks. That was most likely an RIP tour and they're quite expensive but I'm not even going to venture a guess. UTH is a non-event behind the scenes tour, RIP Tour is a guided tour of the event with special line cutting privledges.
  15. The afterparty sounds awesome! A HHN-themed pre-event dinner might be pretty cool as well. REALLY liked this survey...also got one about (what sounds like) a potential Universal Orlando Waterpark.
  16. In the future, they'll probably add the players from this year with little bios for each in the Character tab and Environment tab will probably have the houses and scare zones listed at some point. Just a guess...
  17. For anybody else who was wondering "What the heck are Weta Legs" like myself: Weta is today hugely excited to bring to the world Weta Legs, a digitigrades leg extension for performers, costumers and anyone who’s ever wanted to walk like an animal. Since they were displayed a year ago on the Internet for the first time, there has been tremendous interest from performers across the world. Weta Legs are a unique, low profile, professional grade, reverse leg stilt for creature and costume performances in movies, television, theatre, circus, street performances and other creative contexts. Something previously reserved for commercial film and television projects, they are the first of their kind available commercially to the public.
  18. As mentioned in another post, send an email to VIPTours@universalorlando.com and tell them you're interested in the tour. You'll get a response something like the one I got
  19. How's that being a pessimist? That's an OPTIMIST! I'd love the crowds to thin out....by a lot! It's getting insane now every day of the week...we used to go the week leading up to Halloween, then had to go earlier one year and the lines were sooooooo much much shorter so that's our new time to go and the lines are continually growing year to year. Hoping Potter steals people and if there are no movie tie-in houses, maybe some casual attendees will stay home too
  20. My friend had his "package" grabbed by Dog the Bounty Hunter's drunk twin sister! She was wasted, came up, grabbed his crotch and tried to take a sip from his drink (this was HHN 2008). Then when we all laughed, she kept it up and we managed to get one picture of her. She was heinous! As you can see, it was clearly still light out and she was wrecked. Having said that, we are often drunk as we're 1600 miles from home and are a bunch of stupid guys letting loose...but we're also in our mid-30's so we're not complete assholes and don't feel the need to act like idiots in line and be LOUD AS HELL. Of course, Mrs Dog the Bounty Hunter was 50+ and had no excuse!
  21. Was going to make a wise@$$ comment about how they have to update it in English, but I see that's not your native language It's not a matter of having time to update it, but rather to build up interest in the event. They want to get a "drumbeat" going to keep it in everybody's mind and build up excitement to entice people to buy tickets. With the launch of Harry Potter and the 9 hour lines you hear about, the thinking is probably that they have a surplus of people right now and maybe they should wait to play their "ace in the hole" of announcing the theme of HHN this year when this craziness/popularity dies down. While there are a lot of people who attend all these HHN Sights and Forums, that's probably less than 10% of the total attendence...and the newbies (like me in 2004) who pay $70 a night and don't know about the Frequent Fear Pass are their real breadwinners as they bring in a bunch of cash. Even if they just said, for example, "Jack's Back!!!" That might excite and/or disappoint everybody here and spark conversations, but to the new people they really want to attract that means nothing. "Oh boy, Insane Clown Posse is appearing or something". Given that attendance is peaking with Harry Potter, I wouldn't be supervised if we have to wait another whole month before a REAL update. Maybe some hints for fans with more "discussion points", but from a business point of view keeping it under wraps for a little while makes sense to me.
  22. I think it also depends of the £ and €. Lots of Potter fans are getting older now and if they come with their families, and the exchange rate is such that a family of four could do HHN for 140 quid for a night, I think they'd be more likely to give it a try. That could suck...unless they have a spill over to Islands and Harry Potter...then it could be good. Sell out the night, but have a bunch of people away from the houses Since it's a World Cup year, maybe many of the Brits went to South Africa and don't have disposable cash to come to Orlando in October. Ha ha ha, can always hope! I'm heading down the second weekend this year, so I'm hoping it's not too crowded...though we'll be getting 4 nights of HHN in so I have no doubt we'll see everything multiple times!
  23. I have ZERO problems with it. I think of teenage gangbangers, thugs, punks, etc and what they carry...coming to HHN at NIGHT with alcohol in every line and I fully understand the hassle. I'm a diabetic and carry metal tipped vials of insulin and syringes which cause me a hassle with security, but safety has to come first. Even if it's overkill, it's a small price to pay to know that the dumb drunk who cuts you in line and you confront, likely isn't going to pull a gun or knife on you. I know it's annoying and slows up the line and YOU might not be a risk, but I fully support it.
  24. I was kinda mad at the lack of details, but as time goes on (and we make our flight reservations) I kinda like not knowing what's going on. While it would pi$$ me off to get no updates, I ALMOST wish they'd do that so I could go in knowing nothing....because I know I lack the willpower to not check for updates, rumors, and spoilers 15 times a day!
