  1. I'd LOVE for the theme to be some abstract presence or something like that. An all-encompassing force or whatever, but I think that the fans (aka the paying public) like having a singular icon that they can "meet" and they're going to stick with it. I'd love for a ghost or something that had it's hands in every house and was projected in there, indirectly, and NOT a person at all....or my idea of multiple icons...but just something FELT in all the houses. Like a spirit that would brand each person it possessed and all the scareactors had triangles branded into their foreheads...and triangles were spraypainted all over the park...and carved into stuff....and "hidden" in props all over the park. I'd love that and the "easter egg" aspect of searching out the triangle/symbol. Just don't think it's possible given what the general public wants.
  2. Maybe there's NOT an Icon since Fear was the end of the Icon Era...but maybe several main faces/characters/players etc. Maybe the park is divided up into quadrants with different personalities for each (always a personal wish for me...much like IOA is divided up by theme, have an Icon for each area). 100% speculation, I have absolutely no insider knowledge from up here in NY....take with a huge grain of salt. Better yet, an entire salt shaker
  3. Regarding the Icon I kinda think it's important. I've been going since 2004 (with the exception of 2006) and live in Upstate NY. We went the first year because a friend's fiance saw HHN on a Travel Channel special and bought him a ticket thinking he'd love it. So the fact that there was no Icon that year didn't affect us as we didn't see any commercials or follow the website or anything. Now, having gone for years and visiting sites like this and playing all the games on the site, I think Icons are important. They don't need to tie the whole thing together or be a HUGE part of the event, but you need SOMETHING from all the advertising to be present. You need to be able to see and "touch" something from all the advertising. It doesn't have to be a person, it can be a house or a theme, or something. Think of the movie The Expendables. I loved the movie, but was surprised when I saw it and Arnold Schwarzennegger and Bruce Willis made up like 20% of the trailer and 60% of the 15sec TV spots, yet had a whopping 2 minutes of screen time in the movie. I felt mislead and letdown. I think Average Joe Public NEEDS to be able to see something from the advertising. I think they need to be able to get their picture taken with an Icon. Stuff like that grounds all the leadup in reality and makes you feel more like part of the event. Silly and not much along the lines of speculation, but felt the need to put in my $0.02 EDIT: I really should proof what I type before hitting Submit....fixed some stupid typos.
  4. As recently as 2 years ago, you had to request a reservation form that they'd email you and you'd fill it out (including your credit card info) and fax it back to them. It was always kinda odd. EDIT: Thank you for inquiring about Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights Tours. Attached you will find an information sheet detailing the various tours we will be offering during this year’s event. Halloween Horror Nights is one of the most popular Halloween events in the world, and tour spaces can sell out quickly for certain dates so advance reservations are strongly recommended. Should you have any questions at all, or would like to check on tour availability for a particular date, please contact the VIP Services Office. We are available 7 days a week, 9:00AM to 6:00PM EST, and can be reached either via phone or email. Phone: 407-363-8295 Email: viptours@universalorlando.com
  5. Exactly...sounds like fun, but unless I win the $200M+ PowerBall jackpot tonight, no way in hell I'd pay $225 PLUS admission. Also, didn't the UMH tour used to cost $30 and be called "Behind the Screams"? I was looking to do that tour this year
  6. Couldn't agree more. Dead Exposure did it great too....just send you into a dark room with a speaker on the ceiling right next to a strobe light. Trigger the sound and 1 sec later trigger the strobe...everybody is instantly blind. Great cheap affect that really does freak you out a bit.
  7. WOW, thanks! That's my new desktop backgound
  8. Found this on Amazon (of all places) about Lady Elizabeth Horthorne (it's a review of a book): http://www.amazon.com/review/R1PJ128M8SJM7K/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R1PJ128M8SJM7K
  9. Who wants to see hotties with guns in skimpy clothing.....oh wait, that would be me! The movie SUCKED and was horrible...but seeing hot chicks make fun of it...yeah, I'd be into that
  10. We wore the glasses in every other house the second night to see if there were any little easter eggs hidden...didn't find anything else, but there were some lights and stuff here in there in the park that seemed to be "enhanced" by the glasses. Sooooooo wish I had them last year for the Muerto Scare Zone!
  11. I LOVE the 3D houses! Jack-O-VIsion, while not the least bit scary, is one of my favorite houses of all time. I saw the picture and HOPED it meant a 3D house.
  12. HA HA HA, no need to formally apologize. We're happy, quiet drunks and would never touch anything. The way you said "Touch Creatures" I took it to mean Scaractors so was confused about what the location had to do with it. I guess I assumed PROPS would be stuff like the spinning tunnel destroyed and stuff like that (we went the first weekend and that already was ripped!). WIth the creature props in The Thing....I didn't put 2 and 2 together. I hate those @$$holes that deface the stuff.
  13. Regarding the lack of updates and all the complains, I'm actually happy about it. I love the mystery of the event and readily admit I'm too weak to avoid searching all the forums for clues and breaking news and therefor ruining a lot of the surprises about the event for myself. Totally selfish stance, but that's how I honestly feel. I can't help but check...all the time...and am envious of the surprise some of my friends show when they go to the event and see stuff I've known about for months. Every one of us posting here have either booked our trip, bought our tickets, or plan on buying our tickets soon....knowing nothing. We're the ones who enjoy the Website and the games of the past....but really, we're all already sold. Joe Public needs to be sold on it, but they can do that a month before the event or whenever they unleash their commercial. I would love for them to be putting all their time, effort, and money into the commercial so a bit before the event we just get a WOW commercial that blows our mind and excites us beyond belief as well as encourages the general public to want to go. The FFP and now the Rush of Fear pass gives us, and more importantly the general public, more incentive to check it out and go multiple nights...and spend more money on parking, drinks, food, etc. A win win for Universal. That said, time to go check a few other sites for any spoilers I can find!
  14. Just curious as to how the house location affects drunks???
  15. I'd love to see them making fun of all the movie sequels this year. Especially something like some old guy in a robe comes out with a walker and Bill starts to make a joke and Ted is like, "Whoa, hold up dude...you better not make fun of him given all the money Universal spent on the new addition to Islands of Adventure next door!" I think the sequels should be addressed and you can't do that without making fun of Harry Potter 7....Part 2.
  16. The Thing is one of my favorite movies EVER...so I loved the house. Just seeing the fake frozen Kurt Russel, Blair Monster, and Dog made the house heaven for me. I'll admit, it was light on the scares, but I was soooooooooooo into the house I was more than happy to walk through sightseeing. Of course, the fact that I wasn't looking for scares made me get the bejesus scared out of me a couple times
  17. I wasn't trying to be a jerk with my comment...just saying that Jaws being hotter than other houses in Central Florida (I'm from NY...so it's hotter than hell down there regardless of the time of year) really is a negligible factor for me on if a Thing house can be there. I don't remember the THING part of Silver Screams being cold and it didn't bother me. Don't remember Creatures being wet or Interstellar Terror feeling like I was really in space. I wish they could put you 100% in the moment, but I just want awesome houses and scares.
  18. Does anybody think this is REALLY a hindrance? PS Home for the Holidays (or whatever) wasn't exactly freezing cold and Hades wasn't a thousand degrees like it should be at the center of the earth. While it being cold would be cool, I think it adds very little to the house itself. Would much rather they spend all that $$$$ on props and costumes for the house, and leave the temps as they are.
  19. Wow, downloaded all your YouTube videos (gotta love VDownloader) and burned them to a DVD....it was awesome reliving the 2008 event. I hope you get the DVR fixed in time for this year!
  20. A hunting cabin where the hunters (you) become the hunted maybe?
  21. I see snowmen with antlers...or some kind of beetle with pinchers.... The other one I see a happy, smiling ink blot / Rorschach test.
  22. Makes sense that they count down days to 2011...though with 20 years to work with, you'd have thunk they'd have started much earlier to keep the drumbeat of suspense going from the site launch. I also think we're going to get a bunch of "OMG Freddy's coming back!!!!!!" posts pretty soon
  23. First trailer for The Thing prequel....maybe a taste of what's to come??? http://movies.msn.com/movies/movie-trailers/#/video/f749b83d-e1d0-4983-a918-a9c3914b03c0 (Found at this story on AICN: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/50381) Fake block of ice in an ice cold entry room with someone drilling into it...then all hell breaks loose....
  24. http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/21160/-evil-dead-4-this-time-it-s-real Please please please please NEXT year....
  25. Finnegans is by FAR the best. You can hang out there when they change the park over for HHN and then hit like 3 houses with NO LINES. Plus they have Guinness on tap. 'Nuff said.
