  1. Oh, didn't know if I should "steal" them and post (with credit of course) or link to his account so just did that
  2. DTF has a lot more pictures on Twitter...mugs, shotglasses, bracelets, hoodies, iPhone Case, etc https://twitter.com/DesigningFear Edit - I like the TWD Coffee Mug...think I'll be picking that up this year. It's something different that I'd get a lot of use out of.
  3. The back of the house shirt is pretty cool. I like the candles. Won't be buying one of course. If they had the front available with just an event logo on the breast, I would pick it up. But COMPLETELY covered in the horrible tacky blood letters? No thanks. The lanyards are pretty cool and will probably pick up one of them (plus will get the red one free from the BTS Tour if it's like past years). Not interested in anything else...yet. Will surely pick up a shot glass.
  4. If you had issues with the drunks on Wed/Thur in mid to late October...unfortunately you'll probably have the same issues earlier in the event. Crowds are smaller, but every single queue sells drinks and shots so people like me those who choose to drink will be doing so quite a bit Having said that...in Sept the crowds should be a lot shorter. It won't be deserted by any streach of the imagination...but it will be less. Also, if you can stay until closing, the nightly "lines dying down in the less popular houses" starts a lot earlier. The Walking Dead might get a 90min wait...but some "lesser" houses will probably not get much above 30min at the max and usually be like 15min.
  5. I'm pretty sure I read they had a 3 year agreement with AMC/TWD for it to be the cornerstone of the event. Not sure if that was ever 100% attributed to someone official, but that seems to be the general consensus. Also, the number 1 TV program on cable (particularly in the typical HHN-goer's demographic) is a surer thing in marketing than a movie over 30 years old that has had a bunch of underwhelming sequels/remakes in most of the attendees lifetimes. EDIT: Also, it sounds like DTF's big announcement wasn't available today...but should be available tomorrow. Sounds like it's a piece of merchandise. Hopefully he knows something about something that will really blow all our minds and is new/different
  6. Still nothing on his feed about the news...but there is a picture of the red HHN24 Lanyard. Gives me some hope that maybe the shirts could possibly be something other than black pic.twitter.com/PcP2r8qJSy
  7. Intriguing.....from Designing the Fear on Twitter: EDIT: Apparently linking to twitter doesn't work, so added the quote. Look up Designing the Fear on Twitter for the source.
  8. Usually by this time there are photos and people saying which merch stores have stuff out early. If you go to the Uni Store online, they list 124 "new" items...all 124 are Harry Potter.
  9. Just watched the episode and couldn't agree more with Axe Girlfriend winning. Chum Man was just too monotone for me. Stomach Aristocrat would fit perfectly in Maskarade though.
  10. Awesome pics...love the comic style signs for the games. Just raised my excitement level from a 92/100 to about a 105/100! Looks like they're going all out on the streets.
  11. Yup...I'm a moron. Have my trip and Rush of Fear on the brain. Ha ha ha.
  12. You get express for each house every night of the event for the first 3 weeks. So all 8 express the first night, all 8 the second, ...... all 8 the tenth.
  13. How is it that you could play the theme song to Sesame Street backwards and it would still sound satanic?
  14. One week out from opening night...'bout time we got something Only about 479 hours until I enter HHN for the first time this year...but who's counting? ForeverEvil - thanks for the code!
  15. If I lived down the street and could come any day I wanted, I'd probably leave too. Ha ha ha. Now that you mention it, I think I remember the queue for the Tents being closed before due to rain too...but the house I remember going through in water (only like 1/8 to 1/4 inch) I THINK was the Disaster queue. I'm not a die hard that remembers every house and it's location, but think it was around there and after leaving it, we took a ride on Jaws in the pouring rain. MIGHT have been the year Hurricane Floyd came trough in early Oct. We went to see Danzig at Hard Rock for part of the Blackest of the Black Tour (they gave us free tickets since nobody wanted to go) and then flew out from Orlando in the eye of the storm (passing through the eye wall in the plane was pretty damn scary). We were in line for a tent once when they closed it and we had to make our way back to Universal but I think that was because someone puked and they were going to be cleaning it for a while
  16. I remember going through something a loooooooooong time ago (like 2004) where we were walking through standing water and they then closed down the house after a crazy downpour. Don't know if they've ever closed anything for "rain"...but they have temporarily closed houses due to the flooding (and most likely electrocution concerns with the temporary power wiring). As for how rain affects the event...BRING IT ON!!!! Being a cold weather person, I love the rain that cools you off and reduces the humidity. Locals with Frequent Fear passes run home and others run for cover. Best time to do the popular houses since the lines are greatly reduced!
  17. http://behindthethrills.com/2014/09/streets-begin-to-fill-with-dark-magic-at-universal-studios-florida-as-halloween-horror-nights-takes-over/ Lots of cool new photos including what looks to be a completed Bayou Shack and a new Purge banner on the bus scaffolding.
  18. Thank you for posting that! I have to admit that I was underwhelmed by the Predator helmet from the press event...and seeing this, that was apparently "in action" when the pic was taken has me super excited! Also has me really excited since they're animatronic puppets so I'll be able to take pics of them on the BTS tour 3 weeks from tomorrow Can't wait. They've said there are puppets in the house...have they said it's ONLY Aliens? Having a Predator head with the mouth/tusks moving could definitely be a possibility.... I can just imagine a big prop of a Predator Dummy/Body...with an animatronic face moving around...and a stationary Alien prop with it's tail impaling the Predator. That would just blow my mind. They'd have to drag me out of the tour I'd just be standing there staring at it forever.
  19. I can stand in line just fine. Doesn't mean I like it. The return on investment is worth it for me. Could I do all the houses in the 4 days I'm there without the Express Pass? Of course. But it's worth $25 a day be able to use those 4 hours I would have spent in line each night enjoying other aspects of the event. Obviously I'm in the minority...or else the express lanes would be longer than the regular ones
  20. From the beginning: 1. Halloween 2. Walking Dead 3. AVP 4. Dusk Till Dawn 5. Giggles & Gore (Bill and Ted spill out) 6. Dracula Untold 7. Dollhouse of the Damned 8. Roanoke (just think the name hurts general public interest) Then about 2 weeks in after word of mouth really gets going, BTS pictures are out, some "snuck in camera" videos start showing up YouTube, etc...the lines will shift houses quite a bit: 1. Halloween 2. AvP 3. Walking Dead 4. Dollhouse of the Damned 5. Roanoke 6. Dusk Till Dawn 7. Dracula 8. Giggles & Gore (I'm still hoping this is the surprise house like The In-Between) I might be seriously overestimating the popularity of Halloween with the younger generation. AvP is my most anticipated house, and I think that could be the largest line just because it's something completely different so the creatures and sets have more of a "wow" factor where Halloween might seem boring with a guy with a mask and a normal house. Also, if people were blown away by American Werewolf in London last year, they'll be drooling at the prospect of Alien puppets. Walking Dead will be up there...and if it's as good as they're implying it is, it could easily be #1 with 3+ hour lines. Not sure how "double the size" will impact lines though...will that make the lines quicker or longer?
  21. Looking the latest batch of pics on the construction thread...are the brick facade drink booths new? I don't remember ever seeing them before (but that could be because I had a few of their products first and just don't remember them - ha ha ha).
  22. They still call the houses "mazes" even though it's a conga line with flash light ushers ever 10 feet so you can't possibly get lost or go the wrong way. Personal pet peeve of mine Maybe they'll have some big props or something that you have to weave through allowing scareactors to give you some scares. That would be cool if each of the props were a fog machine and made it a bit tricky to see your way through if the crowds are light.
  23. I made the same argument for years...and now will NEVER go back We like to check out the shows, rides and scarezones when we go, and with the Express, we never have a problem doing every house at least once. Most nights, we'll do a full sprint through the houses, then have a few frosty beverages and check out the zones, then use our express pass on the 3 or 4 longest waits, then hit the rides, then do the last 4 houses. Then it's people watching, Scarezone exploring, picture taking, and another frosty beverage or two and maybe catch a show. Then, when the crowds die down, hit the short wait houses again. I don't think I'd do it for one day, because the cost per day isn't worth it. But with Rush of Fear for 4 nights...paying $25 extra per night to guarantee you get to do everything you want is well worth it for me. PS - LET'S GO YANKEES! (sorry, reflexes when I see someone with Mass in their profile)
  24. Ha ha ha. We've gone into our first house after hanging out in Finnegan's and saw idiots using their express passes...we literally walked up side by side and waited at the house for it to open since it wasn't quite ready. Having said that...it's worth EVERY PENNY on Fri and Sat night if you're like me and out of state and only down for one weekend (granted, we go Thur-Sun) and want to be sure to do every house at least once each night. We were idiots the first two years we went and paid full price (I think $79) for each night. So now that we get the Rush of Fear + Express, it seems like a bargain at $200 for 4 nights.
