  1. My power went out Monday night, due to a very powerful storm (we think a straight-line wind). I wasn't able to go to school yesterday due to the amount of fallen trees/powerlines on the roads. :D

Have to go today, though...

  2. It is possible to "break" a person's psyche though, I believe, and I think Universal has already shown us how. Find the commercial for 2004's HHN ("What's Your Breaking Point." Imagine a house that has a short hallway, followed by a room. You exit that room, go down a short hallway and find yourself in the same room. The scares are in the same place. Short hallway. Same room, different scares. Hall. Same room. Different Scares. Hall. Same room, backwards. Different Scares. Hall. Same room. Same scares from first two rooms. Hall. Upside down room. Structuring a house this way kills any feeling of progression, and the later rooms can have different effects (completely dark, steady strobe shows glimpses of a murder). It forces familiarity and uncertainty because the guest starts to have an expectation, and the trick is challenging those expectations. It would be extremely risky (and probably quite difficult). Making it the longest house of the event (12-13 "scenes" rather than 10) causes even more unease because it causes a feeling like you cannot escape. It could, easily, be the most effective "Mess with Drunks House" without needing elaborate strobes or effects, but rather just clever design.

Call it, "Deja-Vu" and watch the confusion.

I'm really interested in that idea. Like you said, very risky, but it could be one of the best (and most unique houses) Universal has ever done.

I wonder if A&D ever just merely thought of that to feature during 2004. It would've made a small connection between the promo stuff (commercial) and a house. Therefore giving 2004 a very brief "constant and carried out" theme.

  3. Woooh.

VIRGIN MOBILE PRESENTS: THE MONSTER BALL TOUR - STARRING LADY GAGA was phenomenal, fantasting, amazing, what ever you want to call it!!!

The stage setup was incredible and unlike any other live concerts. It wasn't just a stage with intruments on it, but it told a story.

There were some downers, though: she arrived an hour late, she sounded somewhat high, she didn't perform "So Happy I Could Die" with the living dress, I missed Poker Face because I had to call my mom, we had the leave early and mix the finale (Bad Romance & Born This Way) <_< , and on the way back to the car I realized I left my Monster Ball Tour shirt under the seat ($40).

Hopefully I've get up the very few pictures that I took... :P

It was still fun though! :D Can't wait for the Born This Way Ball!

  4. Just came home from a Braves game! We went yesterday, but they called the game due to a storm.:(<_<

So we went today, and it was much nicer weather!

(But we had to leave half way through the game, because we had to take my friend home for his baseball game.)

    - Ugh, I have a big French project due Wednesday.

    - Monster Ball concert (Lady Gaga) on Monday!!!!!

  5. It looks nice but...do you actually live there? Where do you hide all your stuff? It looks like there are literally no personal possessions at all in that entire house.

Haha, yeah we live there. We got it all nice, tidy, and photogenic for the shots. He just didn't take pictures of the pantry/closets/ect.

Here a shot of our fridge (which wasn't in any of the prof. shots):

  6. Oh, do you have the original of that one bigger? where did you find this one? i like it

I think your drawings are really great, they look awesome,

    Thanks Juan.

I found the picture on Dr. Raymond Holmes' "Fans of Universal Art & Design" Facebook page.

*By the way, I didn't draw the pumpkin totems, I just colored it it. Don't want to plageris. :P

  8. So last year we had a professional architect photographer come to our home and take some shots to hopefully enter in a Home & Garden magazine contest. I don't think we've heard back, I'll have to ask my mom or dad. :P

I just got to uploading the photos on Flickr, and thought I might as well post them here.

Gabriel Benzur took the shots and really did an amazing job. But they did end up a bit washed-out, so I turned up the temperature and saturation in Flickr.

    * My dad's and architect, so he designed/ the house; and my mom's an interior designer, so she designed the inside.

*The first several drawings were done by a girl in my dad's architect firm.

  9. oh, that would be interesting,

I always thought the Jaws ride could have some small halloween things added to them, like, pumpkins placed in the houses or the ports, like if the people that lived there decorated for halloween or something, the fog sounds cool, I mean, there is a lot that could be done to Jaws, small details,

I think some jack o' lanterns and pumpkins through out the villiage in Jaws would be great. The ride wouldn't be gore-ified, but just in the Halloween spirit... :)

  10. you did this?

that is quite amazing! where did you get the mountains and the houses? Michaels?

this gives me the idea, It would be totally awesome to create a miniature scarezone, from one of the years at HHN,

Yep, with the help of my dad. He's an architect, so I might as well use him... :P

I got the moutains from Michael, they're Oasis.

I think it would be neat to recreate a HHN zone.
