  1. I know the user Andrew Ryan will appreciate this - but I would love a Haunted House based off of the Bioshock games. I watched my fiance play through those a couple months ago, and the whole time I was thinking of how awesome a House it would make! Perhaps it could be something along those lines, without being literal. For those who haven't played Bioshock, it takes place in an underwater community where the majority of the people living there have gone out of their minds - they basically have turned into tweeking zombies, and they're scary as hell. Plus it's set in the 50s (? pretty sure... it's been a while now) so the music and settings are very iconic. Universal could really take an idea like that and create something really original in a house. Probably won't happen, but I would LOVE it.
  2. I protested on Wikipedia and was SO pissed to come online this morning and find it deleted! I REALLY want to complain about that moderator who obviously didn't listen to a word we said - it's not just a LOCAL event - if you want the video on the HHN Web site you can see people who flew from Europe to come to the event! Ridiculous! Not to mention that it really is the largest Halloween event from the theme parks. I know about Cedar Point's halloween festivities and I don't live anywhere near Ohio. Of COURSE it's of National Significance! UGH. So pissed! Could someone who turned it into a word document send it to me? I made the argument that this information and history wasn't available online anymore thanks to the disappearance of the Vault. I, for one, love reading back in the histories. Would love a copy, and I really think we need to stick it to this moderator by making a new page that's even better than the last.
  3. I certainly hope you're wrong on that last part about no HHN information being available until the day of the event! I will die from anticipation every summer! Probably very unlikely, thankfully, from a marketing standpoint. They have to attract visitors like me to fly across the country to attend the event - hard to do with no information (ok, not for me... I'd go regardless, but you know what I'm saying). The possibilities are driving me a little bonkers - I need some hints already!
  4. I absolutely agree about the Movie houses. Although I enjoyed the extremely immersive entrance to A Nightmare on Elm Street a couple years back, I would much rather walk into a completely original house without a stolen plot from a movie. Yeah, it's cool to walk through familiar movie scenes and feel like you're there, but they lack the creativity of my favorite HHN houses. I'm ready for a serious break from movie houses - I missed 2008, so my most recent HHN experiences were 2007 and 2009 - filled with movie houses. I'm ready for a break!
  5. This has already been discussed quite a bit, but my two cents about both parks: After HHN 2004, I remember being exhausted from traveling back and forth the two parks. The huge distances between the attractions really took their toll. I remember we decided to try to make it back to get in line for the Mummy (the ride, which had just opened) before the park closed and we literally had to jog all the way there because we were somewhere in Islands. Plus there were quite a few dead zones with no scares whatsoever. I always felt the scares are better in Universal, aside from the Jurassic Park area. Definitely had some scareactors jump out of the bushes in IoA and scare the crap out of me.
  6. I remember seeing that link while googling a while back. It's just the wrong date - it's describing an event from earlier in the 2000s. And btw, this probably isn't the right place to post this, but this is where everyone reads right now... I apologize for knowingly posting this in the wrong place. the HHN wikipedia page needs help! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween_Horror_Nights_(Orlando)
  7. I would love to see another Bates house. I never saw any of the original houses, but the Bates house in 2006 was awesome. It had some truly great scares -especially the climax of the house, exited through a blood-stained shower curtain filled room with strobes on full and Bates popping out everywhere. Plus the closet room with all the dresses - I kept waiting for someone to jump out of the tight corridors and grab me! Fantastic. As for Robosaurus - he was rather lame in 2006 and I would not mind if he never made a return.
  8. I didn't make it to the 2008 event, but I remember seeing pictures of the Big Bad Wolf! And I did make it through War of the Living Dead last year - took video though. Wonder if you're in it! And how do they decide Scareactor of the Year? Noticed that on your signature there.
  9. So I currently live in Denver (born and raised in Florida, moved out to Colorado in 2008 for grad school), but being a scareactor is definitely on my bucket list. Won't be happening this year for obvious reasons, but whenever we move back to Florida, I think both my fiance and I will want to audition. Reading this thread has been so insightful and helpful! I'll definitely keep your advice in mind whenever I finally get the chance to audition. As a sidenote: For you veterans that post on here. Are you allowed to say what roles you've had in previous houses before? I'm just insanely curious to know what roles you had the chance to play!
  10. I dunno... I think the Crypt Keeper is pretty far gone from popular culture at this point. I think the creative team can do something much more innovative than bringing him back!
  11. So I was reading back through the speculation from HHN19 (an effort to familarize myself with everyone!) and saw this, supposedly from a Universal Survey sent out way before the event as a house option: From the Mind of Stephen King: Halloween Horror Nights 18 Universal Orlando joins with the master of the macabre, Stephen King, as he takes you through some of the darkest corners of his twisted imagination. From the carnage-filled homecoming dance in Carrie, to the plague-ravaged wasteland of The Stand, to the mazelike hallways of The Shining’s Overlook Hotel, you’ll cross the line between fiction and fright as Universal Studios brings you nightmares and dreamscapes “From the Mind of Stephen King”. The word "macabre" jumped out at me from that list of hints that was posted by the imposter Holmes. Think this could be related? I, for one, would love it. My mom is a huge Stephen King fan so I grew up reading his stories (hmmm... wonder why I like horror so much?) and my fiance loves him too. I think it would be a really immersive house based off that description. Anyway - just throwing that out there!
  12. I understand your viewpoint, but as a newbie - how am I supposed to know who has a long history of giving good information? I can gather some of that information just by reading back through this thread. But is there some post with bios somewhere of who I should pay attention to because their information has been validated in the past? Otherwise I completely agree with your perspective. Just want you to see through the eyes of a newbie as well!
  13. It says the same thing every year for that portion of the site. Not much to speculate on there.
  14. Yup. Sure was! Loved that darn Psycho house too! Hey everyone - I'm semi-new. I've been reading the speculation for about a week now, following along. I'm a huge HHN fan and not having the Web site yet is killing me! Thank goodness for this forum - it's the only thing keeping me sane! I've been to many HHNs (2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009). Unfortunately missed 2005 (no idea why) and 2008 (because I'd just moved to Colorado). Still mad that I missed Bloody Mary's year! My fiance and I are getting married October 2 and going to HHN October 1 with our wedding party to celebrate! I can't wait! Anyway, just a short introduction since I haven't posted before! Back on topic, I love all the speculation about the scene names... REALLY crossing my fingers that Frightanic will be included! I also would love to see another more humorous house such as Leave It to Cleaver, the Psychoscarepy Christmas house, etc. I've always had great laughs and wonderful memories from those houses! Oh - and although it probably won't happen, I remember earlier in this thread people were discussing bringing back the clowns to Amity. I would LOVE this! My first HHN in 2001, I have a distinct memory of heading into a patch of fog so thick I couldn't see my hand in front of my face, only to eventually reveal a horrifying clown waiting for me in Amity. It's the perfect setting for the Midway of the Bizarre. And oh, how I miss that fog! It was so thick you could see it from across the lake! Oh - and I'm REALLY crossing my fingers for a return of the Body Collectors. I missed out on both previous houses due to my poor choices of years to skip! Please let it be so! Alright' - that's all for my first post. Looking forward to getting to know all of you! Lizz
