2008’s Reflections of Fear was themed around its icon; Bloody Mary. The backstory by Mike Aiello was that she used to be this young doctor Mary AGANA who had horrible methods for “treating” her patients. Eventually she died and became a legend that says if you say her name a number of times in the mirror, she will kill you.
The backstory was all laid out in the website for 2008. I cannot access the website, but I have found a photo album for it. Below is the screenshots of the event by HHNYEARBOOK, going by order of patient.
Mary’s own little Journal entries:
Ya know I don’t get the whole Mary drawing thing. I get that she got insane, but why was she drawing these peculiar images, aside from the out-of-universe reason of reading the houses and zones.
Now from what I read from reading old forum posts, while this was going on; there were these emails delivered to HHN followers revolving a character with the rather unfortunate initials of B.S. later revealed to be Boris Shuster.

Flash will end after this December, so I don’t think we’ll be able to access the fun stuff in the websites like the patient files, Bloody Mary journal entries, and Terra Cruentus map anymore. I think one of the Reaper Audio Mixes has the 2009 audio but other than that; is there anyway the website data can somehow be preserved for fans to access.
i think I remember reading somewhere that some guy named Nick (I think he used to own HorrorNights.be but it’s shut down) had a file containing the audio of the websites but I can’t find it anywhere so it could just be me misremembering. Maybe someone has YouTube videos of it?

Self-explanatory. That doesn’t mean you had to attend one of the Icon events, you can list what you like/dislikes based on the concept alone.

A former member of Universal’s creative team for HHN/Halloween Horror Nights, I found on his Vimeo page his parody of that 80s Batman movie where he starred as the title character. Posting it here for curiosity’s sake. Personally I couldn’t stand the first few minutes.

- She is only known by the most diehard fans. We haven't really seen her image pre-Bloody Mary. We heard her voice on the website. As far as the GP knows, she would just be a psychiatrist character who had "unconventional" therapy techniques - not that this wouldn't be a great standalone icon it itself. To me, Dr. Agana is akin to Dr. Rich Oddfellow - a part of the backstory of Jack but not a person we necessarily need to see at HHN.
- It would only invite Bobbie Weiner to chase a new settlement, baseless as it would be.
- The Icon house that year was a bomb - completely forgettable.
However should Legendary Truth one day become a major part of a future HHN, I could see the good Dr. being mentioned without bringing up Bloody Mary in name. I doubt we would get anything more than that.
I guess, but as I kinda mentioned above, aren’t the Icons beloved by only the diehard HHN fans?
And hell I take back what I said that I understand that Universal can’t use her because of copyright. I mean Universal specializes in IPS all the time now: The Walking Dead (5 times), American Horror Story, Halloween 1978, The Shining, Stranger Things, etc. Bloody Mary is technically an IP so I could see Universal working something out. Maybe it’s because of popularity with the GP; but I don’t think that’s the case since Universal managed to get IPs like Trick r’ Treat and Killer Klowns from Outer Space, which I don’t believe match well known characters like Freddy, Michael Myers, or even Dracula.Im just going to go with the baseless assumption that maybe Bobbie is a prick, IDK.

I don’t mean Bloody Mary. For those who don’t know, apparently (I’m not sure where this was sourced) the Bloody Mary name is trademarked by a woman named Bobbie Weiner who still owns the trademark (And has not forgotten about HHN). So universal can’t use Bloody Mary the ghost.
So why can’t they use the character Mary Agana? I think I remember people saying that she’s “not well known to the public” but you could say the same thing about the Caretaker, the Usher, the Storyteller, the Director, and even Jack the Clown. Is it a problem with the design? Cause honestly I think they should redesign her or at least the outfit as it wasn’t really interesting (she’s basically Sadako/Samara but with white eyes).

Those who have completed all clues in Terra Cruentus were invited by Universal Creative to attend a special night held in the Navigator’s Club above Confisco’s. In there were conceptual designs, and props.

At Halloween Horror Nights: The Season of the Queen; it took place in a land of middle-earthian and modern mythos called Terra Cruentus. The backstory for the event was that each night the Terra Queen would host the “Season of the Queen”, where those who survived what lay beyond Maldaken were sacrificed to the Gorewood Tree to produce Bloodberry Wine for its citizens.
During this event , Universal Creative held the first ever ARG (Alternative Reality Game) for this year. Guests were to find the answer to clues regarding the world of Terra Cruentus, attend the night (of 6) which the clue indicated to, and find a “Dark Lord” which would give them prizes. I never attended a Horror Nights before so I am bit confused as to how the clues were supposed to be solved. Judging by the pics, the clues seem to come from the “Terra Throne” part of the 2005 website if I recall.
Clue #1 - October 7th, 2005
Location: The Mystic Fountain In Dragon Forge.
Time: October 7th 1:30AM-1:45AM.
Password: Cruentus.
Reward: Terra Cruentus logo tattoo.
Clue #2 - October 13th, 2005Location: South Hollow, in front of Popeye.
Time: October 13th 10:45PM-11:00PM.
Password: Bogus
Reward: Terra Cruentus logo tattoo and exclusive Halloween Horror Nights beads.
Clue #3 - October 16th, 2005
Location: North Hollow, entrance to High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride.
Translation:
Must be a way outTime: October 16th 9:00PM-9:15PM.
Believe all caverns connect below Terra Cruentus

Should reach entrance between 9:00 and 9:15
Password: Madame Sandra.
