As this year starts to get closer I’m becoming more excited. We are less than a month away! I know this is off topic from what was previously stated but this new “social media” age we are in, I don’t like it. I don’t like the random announcements throughout the year. I honestly miss getting the whole event announced like now. Not knowing what the event will have until August builds the hype more for me. Think of it like this. If you start getting Christmas presents in September to open, it’s not gonna be as exciting. You get to Christmas and only have 1 or 2 presents to open. That’s what it feels like to me. Anyone else have any thoughts about this?

As someone who was active in the off-season this year, the occasional announcements throughout the year keeps the speculation going, and keeps the community active.

    (I’m getting excited too!)

The new pic posted in the construction thread showed off the ride sign for the bumper cars "KRAZY KRASH". The power line poles make me miss Twister...

I've seen it done in a home haunt and it was pretty damn cool. It'd be great if they actually had a scareactor ( or two) in a bumper car driving around IF they have the space for it.

  4. Houses

Carnival Graveyard - Sounds game changing from what the designers have been sharing.

Dead Exposure: Patient Zero - I know people have been talking down this one, but I'm still just so damn pumped for it.

Halloween 4 - I just love Michael houses.

Slaughter Sinema - I love the idea for this one, and everything they've shown has me excited, but could end up being more of a comedy house than a scare house.

Seeds of Extinction - Seems to have some serious scare potential.

Blumhouse 2 - Sounds like the concepts with HDD could be interesting, and the Purge section actually being designed for the Purge won't hurt.

Trick R Treat - Been there, kinda did that. Prob will be way better in a house though.

Poltergeist - Still haven't seen the film, but I like when they do legacy IPs. Prob will go up when I get to watching the film.

Scary Tales: Deadly Ever After - Meh, might surprise me but Scary Tales isn't really my thing.

Stranger Things - Don't really like the show, so if it's a house focused on showing off the scenes it'll be a snoozer. The Demogorgon is the literal only thing I'm at all excited for.

    Zones

Killer Klowns from Outer Space - Still haven't came down from the orgasm this announcement gave me.

Revenge of Chucky - Same with Carnival, the premise isn't the most interesting but the designer talk has me hyped.

Twisted Traditions - Nothing that new or interesting, but recent scenic work has me pumped.

Vamp '85 - Should be fun, but could be executed poorly.

The Harvest - Stupid fucking photo-op zone: Round 2

But you're still going to go around and through the side door...

I was kinda hoping for you to literally walk through the movie screen and into the house. :(

That wouldn't make sense, as the first scene seems to be

    the lobby

Couldn’t agree more. You need a mix of stuff to cater for everyone. Last year I really didn’t want or enjoy Saw, but it always had huge queues and was popular.

Also whilst a few people hated Ash vs Evil Dead I loved it. Best way to experience HHN is to go in with an open mind, and give things a go. You may be surprised.

I disagree with every opinion you just said about those two houses, which hilariously proves our point, doesn't it? :P

I'm excited to see Meteor so high on your list, if it is what I think it is, it's the house I had the most reservations about when I first heard about it. I'm also disappointed to see Poison so low, again if it's the house I think it is I was looking forward to it. I suppose we'll see.

I wouldn't assume your own opinion on a house based on only the projected opinion of another's.

    Different strokes for different folks.

A little off-topic, but what is our most anticipated house? Mine is most excellently Slaughter Sinema.

At the moment I'd say Carnival Graveyard, not from the official promo but from the descriptions it has been getting from Legacy and the designer on Twitter. Sounds like something next-level for HHN.

There's a possibility this is a misdirect, but that's not really Mike's style.

    So, instead.

I'll go ahead and confirm that Poltergeist is happening in 25. It's strictly the first movie, and doing some unexpected things.

Legacy’s doing Orlando’s PR for them, hahaha.

Ah, thanks. Actually... Could that mean whatever is going in the Shrek theater could technically be that one house that's put in pretty late in the game? (House of Horrors, Evil Dead, The Purge, Hive)

Not sure about Evil Dead or HoH but Purge and Hive were both overlays of IP houses that fell through, Scream and The Conjuring respectively.

The Shrek house doesn’t seem to be that kind of house, just one that wasn’t certain to be built until pretty late in planning this year’s event.

Question: I heard from some that the Shrek theater was a last-minute house location. Why is that? Was it originally 9 houses, or is it because they were going to close Shrek but scrapped it?

Yes. According to Legacy, it was between a second show and a 10th house in Shrek. It was obviously a pretty late decision as earlier marketing this year stated 9 houses.

Generic? It has a witty playful subtitle "Rust in Pieces". What more do you want? Trust me, this title is the least generic compared to MANY past houses.

The "Rust in Pieces" subtitle isn't what I'm referring to, I actually quite like that bit. However, I think when people see the big, bright carnival letters portraying "Carnival Graveyard," (The most prominent feature of the logo) they will immediately think that this is just another clown-or circus-based house, although it seems this is much more.

How is it a weak teaser? It showed an abandoned decrepit rotting amusement park (Don't think its Six Flags New Orleans. Maybe something in Europe? Someone should ask Aiello).. Sure it'd be nice if they had filmed inside the actual house itself, but it served its purpose. The ONLY thing it could've done without was the stupid past HHN footage of a guest screaming in a house. That was unnecessary.

It consisted of mostly raw footage of the abandoned park, and while it fit the mood, the two other originals announced so far got much more complex trailers. Also, you're very right, that screaming guest clip was worse than usual, and honestly it was the main reason I made the comment about the trailer. I don't think including footage from the house is realistic nor necessary, the 3 good trailers used either re-used stock footage, past years' event footage, or completely new footage.

When I read your topic, SS Frightanic immediately came to mind.  But then I saw your mention of H.R. Bloodngutz...  (I'd love to see it return, but no 3D, please)

I'll stick with SS Frightanic, which was way before your time.  It was particularly cool in that it was a dual-run house, with each entrance on either side of the shared facade.

I’d love a dual-run house, any thoughts on the reason they haven’t been done in a while?
