  1. Could the classic 80’s horror film possibly be an IP they haven’t done before??
  2. I am so unbelievably happy & excited that I think no matter what comes next for HHN nothing will top my levels of joy I have for this IP announcement. From the trailer, and using the actual score (which I’m sure we’ll happily hear plenty of at the event) to just securing this incredible show to use at HHN (and possibly future ones now) I’m truly elated to see how they bring it to life! So whatever has happened in the last 24 hours (hell, they could do only ST and have the rest be 80’s themed originals and it’d be a dream HHN for me) just know Universal...
  3. I think it has its place in the sci fi/horror genre (a la Aliens, The Thing, etc.), but I agree it leans more sci fi than horror. I also agree that I wouldn’t call ST terrifying but it’s a press release for a Halloween event so they’re most likely not gonna use any other words besides terrifying, horrifying, etc. to describe what they’re trying to sell. IT is also the highest grossing horror film in history so I definitely think IT would fall into the “iconic” category.
  4. Yes, ST is considered TV. IMO, it’s encouraging at least that Universal used the plural. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see it be the first announcement (if it is coming), season 3 starts filming next month so news will start picking up on it again. Echoing the sentiment on an 80’s sequel to the Vamp ‘55 SZ. The Lost Boys is one of my all time favorite movies, I’d love to see even a nod to it at HHN someday.
  5. If it makes you feel any better that event “sold out” in seconds. I got the email and was on the page at the time we were supposed to be, entered in my info in probably less than 10 seconds, and it was already full. I believe everyone that signed up on the soul collector page got an invite, and they only had 128 spots available. The social media meetup’s in the past that the vloggers would attend looked funner, IMO.
  6. Catching up on all this and I’m seriously beginning to wonder if they went all in on the originals last year because they had an idea they’d be going heavy on the IP route this year? No clue whatsoever if that’s even how creative (or just Universal in general) would work, or even if they’d be working on 28 that far in advance, but I am curious...
  7. Cult because I can see it being used as a SZ, especially with that green gas in the streets I can see them implementing that with fog effects. So Cult or The Thing because I’ve actually never seen that movie lol
  8. I’d imagine prices will go up across the board-not just for tickets-but I’m guessing they increase each year anyway. I figured even if one of It or Stranger Things came I’d have to invest in my regular FFP + express, but if they BOTH come this year I think I’ll have to look into the bigger passes. Fingers crossed that you’re right! I don’t know if it’s been rumored we’d be getting a 10th house and none of the IP’s would be used as a SZ, but I’m hoping that’s the case.
  9. Is anyone else worried about the crowds this year? Last year I thought it was pretty crowded, but throw in the possibility of It AND Stranger Things in the same year AND no B&T (which I’m assuming at least slightly thinned the crowds)...imo, it’s gonna be packed.
  10. Correct me if I’m wrong but weren’t there only supposed to be 3 originals last year until The Conjuring got axed?
  11. Between Hawkins Lab, middle school, the Byers' house and the Upside Down itself I think they have plenty to choose from for a megahouse. Recreating scenes (or even the shadow monster/mind flayer) with projection mapping, maybe even using animatronics &/or puppets for the demodogs, I think the creative team could make an incredible maze for Stranger Things. HHN, imo, is really the only place that can do that show the justice it deserves. All that being said though I do have to admit my bias-it is my favorite show. My only fear if Stranger Things were to come to HHN are the crowds that'd inevitably bring with it. I'd definitely not pass up purchasing an Express pass.
  12. What I want: Stranger Things &/or It, both of which (imo) have enough material to turn them into megahouses. Though I could see them waiting for 2019 to do a megahouse for It so they can include the sequel. I also shutter to mention it but the Suspiria remake is allegedly coming out next year, and depending on the visuals I may wanna see this as a house because I think there's about 0% chance we'll ever get a maze based on the original. What I expect: Blumhouse's Halloween, and with Universal as it's distributor I'd be more surprised to not see this one next year. As for originals I'd love to see H.R. Bloodengutz and Invasion as a house because as a SZ it always felt so crowded that I feel like I didn't get a chance to properly enjoy it. As as far as something to replace Bill & Ted my only hope is that it's not a dance show (no offense to AOV cause they're great), I wouldn't mind another comedy based show or musical.
  13. Since I wasn't there those years I looked both houses up and WOW I would be super excited for a return for either one-especially H.R. Bloodengutz! Originally I was under the impression they'd tackle IP's first, but now when I think about it it makes more sense that they probably would start on the original houses first. Those come from scratch, where as with an IP the visuals are already built in-just have to figure out how to use them. But correct me if I'm wrong! With the possibility of Murdy leaving, and if they pluck anyone out of Orlando for their HHN, it sounds like this offseason is already shaping up to be a pretty interesting one.
  14. I hope that they'll start hinting for next year at the meet-up! I only started going last year so unfortunately my memory for HHN really only goes back that far. What do you think having the holidays connected could possibly allude to?
  15. And Hopper was in Vietnam so STRANGER THINGS #CONFIRMED!!!!111 But seriously though-is it too early to start discussing next year? Or do the rumors/speculation generally always start when the event is still ongoing?
  16. So the countdown started from 11, ending in 11 days on 11/11...
  17. DraculaTeeth: D (but I'm not a big drinker) Will definitely be attending with family Will definitely be in attendance this Sunday 10/1 & every Thursday of the event (besides this coming Thursday 10/5) and there's about an 80-90% chance I'll be at every other night (besides Friday & Saturday If anyone wants to meet up let me know, I hope everyone going tonight has a great time!
  18. Well for me I only started going last year but the second time I've ever been I was there with family & we were unfortunately walking next to a very inebriated couple, one half of which decides to throw her almost empty beer cup across the crowd hitting a lady walking further ahead, but the woman she hit turned around and looked at ME like I did it. While I know random unfortunate situations like that one are pretty much unavoidable (even if it did go dry, which I doubt it ever will, there's always City Walk) if these changes even possibly deter the people that will act up like that when they drink from going to HHN, then I'm for it.
  19. Personally I hope that this change stays in place. The thing that truly scares me the most about going to HHN haven't been the houses/scarezones, but the drunks themselves. I didn't see any but I have to admit I wasn't really looking, I did see a lot of people with the regular Freestyle cups though.
  20. I'm very lucky that the only loss I've damage near me (about 15 minutes south of Universal) are trees, hoping everyone else is doing ok wherever you are in the state! I'm getting very, very excited for Friday-now that the pumpkins came out unscathed, I'm hoping they'll put Sam back (or get Sam scareactors) if they already haven't!
  21. Yeah I saw "80's" and instantly got way too ahead of myself lol
  22. One thing I noticed...Conjuring was the 70's, in this write up it mentions Hive taking place in the 80's...does this mean we may get Lost Boys-ish vampires in this house???
  23. My guesses are Dead Waters for the first one, Hive for the second just cause it reminds me of the basement from The Conjuring and the last one definitely reminds me of the cabin from Evil Dead so I'm guessing that might be Ash vs. Evil Dead.
  24. Scarezones 1. Trick r Treat - love, love, LOVE the movie (wish it was a house instead of Saw) & absolutely cannot wait to see this come to life! 2. Invasion - Vamp '55 was my favorite SZ last year, so if this is done in a similar way as that one I'm sure I'll love it. 3. Altars of Horror - really curious to see which characters they have out for this one. 4. Festival of the Deadliest - this one kinda confuses me, is it gonna be dark & creepy as described or will it possibly have a bit of a Day of the Dead vibe similar to characters seen in the commercial? We'll see on the 15th. 5. The Purge - I just don't really care enough unfortunately. 6. Roaming Hordes - again, just don't care. Houses 1. The Shining - one of my favorite movies of all time, cannot wait to see how they've done this one. 2. AHS - Coven was my favorite season so, again, I'm excited to see how they've brought it to life. 3. Scarecrows - I like traditional Halloween themes and this one fits right in that category for me, plus the dust bowl twist is intriguing. 4. The Fallen - growing up Catholic, religious themes tend to bother me more so I'm prepared to be pretty scared going through this one lol 5. Dead Waters - I really like the riverboat concept art, I'm excited to see that full scale. 6. Blumhouse - I liked Sinister so I'm excited to see that. Last year was my first year so I missed Insidious, and I like that movie enough that I don't mind seeing portions of it in this house. As for The Purge, no comment lol 7. Hive - contrary to my username (it's a song) my all time favorite vampires are The Lost Boys, so if we're not getting a setting in a fictional 80's California beach town, no boardwalk with an oily sax player, and no Kiefer Sutherland then honestly I'm not 100% interested. Plus, knowing that this replaced The Conjuring is slightly disappointing. 8. Ash vs. Evil Dead - love all the movies, I even loved the musical (now there's a show I wouldn't mind seeing take Bill & Ted's place somewhere next year) but I've never seen the show. 9. Saw - truly IDGAF. Extra Stuff I'm excited for - Scareactor Dining! And actually stopping at some of the booths to try some of the food & drink, cause that's something I didn't get the chance to do last year. Also never saw Academybof Villains, so I'm sure I'll stop to see that at some point. I'll also go see Bill & Ted, even though I didn't care for it last year, I'm sure since this is the final year it'll be an interesting show.
