  1. Hi everyone - Not to beat a dead horse but I think everyone worried about US is overlooking a very important aspect. HHN is developing a relationship with a content-creator (Peele) who whether you like him or not, is gaining quite a bit of pull in the entertainment industry.

HHN has been made possible throughout the years by good relationships. Rob Zombie helped put this event on the map! And through HHNs savvy networking we have many of the wonderful properties you're excited about this year.

I didn't love US, but not only am I excited the see what A&D will do with it, but also glad that HHN Orlando has established another relationship to work with.

...That being said I'm so glad my boy Graveyard didn't get cut :ninja:

I’m for eliminating them or drastically increasing the prices. I think they can make more profit and improve the experience by doing that.

Here’s my proposed pricing (AP discounts in parentheses):

    Rush of Fear : $309.99 ($239.99)

    Rush of Fear Express : $449.99 ($344.99)

    The first 17 Event Nights

    Frequent Fear : $399.99 ($374.99)

    Frequent Fear Express : $549.99 ($489.99)

EVERY Sunday-Thursday event night PLUS the first two weekends and the last Friday event night.

Frequent Fear Plus : $649.99 (No AP Discount)

Frequent Fear Plus Express : $799.99 (No AP Discount)

All Sundays-Fridays, the first two nights and the last Saturday. Includes parking.

Ultimate Frequent Fear : $899.99 (No AP Discount)

Ultimate Frequent Fear Express : $999.99 (No AP Discount)

Those are Disney ticket annual pass prices for a seasonal event. They would literally have to start killing people at the event for me to ever even consider having my butler buy those tickets for me

I just want to say, if GOT was being considered.. I'm totally glad stuff got leaked, because it shouldn't have a place at HHN!

I disagree but this stance is actually the reason why this is my favorite forum to discuss HHN and horror. The uncompromising love of the genre (and event) that's here is unmatched

That would've gone great last year ('80s theme) but I don't think they're going to touch that.

Making a house on event itself kind of drifts into the territory of making a house akin to Nightengales - 9/11

Imo this is why Horror and Comedy have many similar roots. The saying "Comedy is tragedy plus time" relates as well as the intention of either horror or comedy.

It's the difference between Pirates of the Caribbean and Pirates of the Pancreas - you kind of have to strip the event of its actual human suffering or your final product is in poor taste. That being said I truly don't know where that line stands and it comes down to a judgement call by A&D.

  5. I don't know what I'm more shocked by:

The fact that Game of Thrones was on the table or the fact that it got pulled for such stupid reasons. And by stupid reasons I don't mean their hesitation due to circumstances

There would have been so much to work with:

    -Whitewalkers

    -Zombie Mountain

    -Dragons

    -Burn Victims in Kings Landing

    -Sieges/Attacks

    -Environmental Variations

I sure hope Universal gets another shot in the future. This would have been huge for HHN and I'm sure A&D is even more disappointed we are.

  6. So IF Zombieland is coming I think itll be a lot more similar to Psychoscarepy Unleashed than the Walking Dead and I think that's exactly why it's being used.

    - Scares that can be aggressive instead of lumbering

    - Rock n Roll soundtrack

    - Fun setpieces

    - Unique characters and interactions

If its going to be utilized how I think it will my only question will be how will they top it at HHN 30

  7. Something I was thinking about is I bet the soundtrack/sound design this year will be incredible:

Stranger Things already has a great soundtrack. Then you've got the Ghostbusters theme, Rob Zombie practically built some of the scenes in his movies around the music and the absolutely lit Killer Klowns soundtrack. Tooth Fairy and Depths could be absolutely hauntingly ambient as well as Graveyard: Hide and Seek. Alternatively we might also get something ala Return of the Living Dead if the idea that partying teens wake the dead if they go that route.

What really got me thinking though is the music choices for a house set in Appalachia. It'll be missed opportunity if they don't have music playing when you enter like they did in Dead Waters.

The first 55 seconds of You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive that then blends in to something oppressively ambient would stop me in my tracks.

  8. Not to nitpick but a "yeti's" defining feature is being native to Asia. An "Appalachian Yeti" is a misnomer unless theres some inventive lore about a world traveling fuzzy friend from the Himalayan mountains.

    More fun facts:

    - Yeti comes from a sherpa word yeh-teh

    - Abominable Snowman comes from a mistranslation of Yeti

    - Sasquatch comes from sesquac, a Halkomelem word and is native to the Pacific Northwest

    - Similarly Bigfoot comes from a newspaper misprint of a "big foot" being printed as one word

    - The Skunk Ape/ Swamp Ape or "Florida Bigfoot" is a creature native to Florida (but rarely and sometimes allegedly signed in Louisiana, North Carolina or Arkansas)

    - Attack of the Swamp Yeti was most likely a reference to the Swamp Ape. Most people don't know about the Swamp Ape however and Swamp Bigfoot doesn't quite roll off the tongue

    - The "Bigfoot" native closest to Appalachia is actually called a "Yahoo" as described by Daniel Boone. The Yahoo is a Kentucky legend

    Old school versus new school.

    And TWD.

Just wondering but did the Walking Dead pave the way to the use of a lot of the IPs we've seem recently? It was a repetitive nightmare for those who love the creative aspect of HHN but did it have a positive outcome? Is the return of a high amount of original houses since the end of the Walking Dead a result of the Walking Dead leaving or the abundance of IPs now in use?

Those who truly create and those who think they can? That was snarky and mean of me.

Simple. You ever create something and someone comes along and tries to play in the world you built? You get a little possessive. And when those newcomers force their frivolous ideas onto your world, you becomes even more possessive and jaded.

Marketing needs to stick to marketing and stay and stay out of the creative world.

I agree and its really weird how marketing views icons.

Second question - how was 21 (a year full of well received originals) followed by 22 which had a low house count and other problems?

I spent most of my day in my own world, followed by the Land of Retail.

I’ve seen it mentioned somewhere, but not sure if it was on here.

The Abyss and Leviathan are movies that came out in 1989. There was one more titled Deep Star Six. All of them dealt with otherworldly creatures in the deep ocean. The Abyss was less monster movie than the other two, but The Abyss is far more recognizable.

Yes, I think he missed capitalizing Falls.

falls is now lower case. I swear it was originally capitalized. Right?

You have no idea!! It’s not just HHN that fills my brain. I can pull out random information from a variety of fandoms. HP, ASoIaF, DW, some Marvel, Dragonriders of Pern, and Stephen King (of course). That’s just the fandoms. There is other trivia that lives in my brain. There’s, also, a whole other world in there. Characters, cities, countries, a god system, history, mythology, creatures, etc...

Knowledge is my drug. I seek it out wherever and whenever I can.

No kidding, the things I learned just speculating last year was crazy

Actually, no one really responded beyond the couple in this thread.. I just forgot I had posted this (work and life have been crazy lately)..

Anyway.. I have it from what I would consider a pretty damn good source that 2 of the IP's will be    'IT' and 'Chucky'.

I haven't followed HHN 29 news/rumors super close yet this year (beyond the official announcements) so I don't know how much those have been speculated on, but .. Well, there it is..     I can't give any details on the source because it would compromise multiple people (and jobs!)..     I'm good with an IT house... just so-so on Chucky..

not looking for fame or fortune for supplying the info.. Just sharing what I know and hoping it's good news for someone..

It really doesn't surprise me -

Everyone's been sleeping on Chucky like he doesn't have a movie coming out and there wasnt just a scarezone last year

Also weirdly enough, last year no one really knew Chucky was coming either
