  1. I think part of it is the gross out factor. Zombies are not just zombies but they are disgusting rotting humans walking around.

Seeing them in on itself is scary for a lot of people.

Some of the zombie make up is pretty horrible to look at (plus they are gory, some of the zombies look really really gross)

Sometimes I see the walkers in Walking Dead, and it makes me think "What if I saw that thing in my back yard" And if I saw a rotting walking thing with half it's face missing, yeah It would be pretty scary to see.

Zombies also eat you. Other monsters just kill you or haunt you. But these things will actually bite and chew on your flesh. They get too close for confort and invade your personal space. You are seeing something that used to be a person now trying to eat you. That is kind of freaky.

Another thing about them is that they are pretty hard to kill, and they are many. they just keep coming and coming and they don't feel pain. it can make people feel nervous because they cannot be stopped and they cannot be taken down.

Things that eat you in real life are pretty scary as it is. So I guess Zombies are like the worst predator that human beings have on the movies and shows if you think about it.

  2. I agree with what most are saying about having some humans. It really bugged me that the Walking Dead last year was all zombies with none of the human survivors, you know, as in the basis of the entire show! In fact I seem to remember there weren't even any recognizable zombies like the "well walker" until a few weeks into the event. Hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes last year and give us the Walking Dead Experience we were all hoping for last year. But I must say, if they don't have a Governor or Rick somewhere in the park I'm going to be more then a little disappointed.

Or, like someone said in the speculation thread. At least have survivors. Even if they are not from the show. At least have actors playing humans figthing against the zombies.

It would be cool if they had actors on top of roofs with guns pointing at the zombies, or something like that. It would be nice if they had human survivors with guns on top of a tower or something. or on top of a car.

I just want to see actors with fake guns on top of things lol.

  3. I was at first taken back by the street experience being all TWD, but i think it will actually be pretty damn good if executed right. The horde in front of the house was way more enjoyable than the actual house, imo, and if they have actual sets like the barn, the camp, and A TANK, it'll be really cool. It's not like all the houses will be TWD. They'd never be able to sell that off. A unified street experience could make the whole park feel like you're being immersed into one big world invaded by zombies. I've shaken my initial judgement on it and am excited to see how A&D pulls it off.

well, not all houses will be TWD, but almost half the houses will have actors looking like zombies in them.

Walking Dead and Resident Evil are zombie houses (I Know Resident evil has human characters they might use and mosters, They might use Nemesis maybe) But Resident Evil is mostly known for their zombies. (Just look at the movies, the movies barely have any monsters in them) We might get some monsters but making zombies is a lot easier and cheaper for Uni.

Then you have Evil Dead which, if you think about it, they already kind of look like zombies. (I know they are not zombies, but based on looks alone they kind of look like them a little bit)

And then Cabin in the woods is going to have more than a couple of rooms with zombies in them because they were a really big part of the movie.

Of course I don't know anything about anything. I might be way off. It is just an observation. we might see a lot of zombie like creatures in the houses as well. at least in the way they look.

  4. The only real problem I see is that it's a very polarized decision by Universal. You are either a fan of the show, or you are not. If you are a fan of the show, like me, then this is pretty good news because how great will it be to walk through some of the sets from the show. If you are not a fan, then you really don't have a second street choice, as far as we know, and I can see how that would be a negative. Not a deal breaker I hope, but still a negative.

I will say that I am excited that they are going to stick to one major theme this year, even though zombies don't really invoke fear in me, but if done anything like Sweet 16 Deadtropolis, then I think the experience and overall mood will make up for lumbering zombies. I can remember being amazed by the helicopter sound overhead and the overall feel of that scare zone. So as long as they immerse us in what it would feel like to be overtaken by zombie hoards, then I'm all for it.

I think last years street experience just really felt chaotic and didn't have much rhyme or reason to it. I did, however, love the feeling that there was no safe zones in the park which led to me always looking around instead of relaxing between the traditional scare zones. If this feeling can be taken to even a higher level by adding familiar scenes from the show, then I really am looking forward to it. I'm just hoping they fill the streets with zombies to give you the true feeling that the park has been taken over.

I love the show but I hated the house. The house was the worst house for me last year. I don't know, It just didn't feel great to walk in the same "scenes" as the show without any of the human characters.

I think a problem the house had was the location as well. I think it could have been better on a soundstage so that might be better this year.

Another thing that might be better this year is that the Barn can be better. If they build the Barn and have a lot of walkers in the street, that might be really cool to see.

They say they are going to recreate scenes from the 3 seasons but it makes me wonder, What are they going to do? We know they might get a tank and the barn, but what else?

What are other scenes from the show they can do in the streets? (instead of indoor scenes that were done in the house last year)

  5. Last year with the hordes they had the problem of the streets looking empty. They didn't have enough people working the streets and they had to call extras to fill the streets later on (The people in the clownish masks and the new zombies)

I wonder how they are going to fix this for WD? would they have more actors working as zombies? That's one thing that people complained about last year, So it makes me wonder since it will All be WD, how will they do it this time around.

  6. I was Fire Crew again last year and worked that street a couple of times. I studiously avoided it, afterwards. The Walkers on the streets were *directed*, quite specifically, that they were only allowed to be so aggressive; we weren't even allowed to reach in front of guests for a startle scare, it was explicitly forbidden.

Between that and the masks, which, let's face it, were pretty laughable, the Walkers really had to work for their scares. Mucho respect to the Scareactors who dealt with it every night.

yeah I remember reading that last year (in here I think) which didn't really made sense to me

I would really love to know the reason they did that. I would really like to know why they would tell actors to Not act like Zombies, in a zombie scarezone that was made from a zombie tb show. It makes me really curious because the zombies in the show do act aggresively.

  7. My parents live in Vero Beach. My mom just called and said the local news was at Uni talking to someone about HHN. Then my mom says "Are you excited about the American Werewolf in London stuff"? I guess either the news anchor or the Uni rep specifically mentioned it. I think someone might have slipped up. Maybe. No clue what station or anything. I'll look around and see if it gets posted to a stations website. I'll call my mom later and she if she remembers what station.... She's at Zumba class now! LOL!

wow that's pretty interesting. it would be funny if they slipped up

  8. I hope they can use some of the elements that were used at ComicCon this year. They had a room set up with the heads floating and Penny locked up. Also the prison with guard towers. I am PUMPED for the possibilities they can do with this house.

that's the only thing I want tos see. the Guard Towers.

  9. This is exactly how I feel about the announcement (although I actually enjoyed Cabin in the Woods, personally.) The walkers are *not* what makes The Walking Dead a good show. They're window dressing. What makes the show worth watching is the characters - their drama, their conflicts, and the choices and sacrifices they have to make to survive. The Walking Dead isn't a Zombie show in my opinion, it's a survival drama that just happens to be set in the zombie apocalypse.

At HHN, on the other hand... The Walking Dead haunted houses (and now, an entire street experience, even) are entire attractions based around the single most superficial detail of the entire show. It doesn't carry any of what actually makes the show as successful as it has been; it's just Scareactors in zombie masks, with set piece and prop references scattered around to say, "hey guys, look, it's The Walking Dead, see?"

I'm really disappointed. Did the executives really feel that the TWD maze was successful enough to warrant not only a sequel maze, but devoting the entire street experience to it? I didn't think the TWD street zone got good reviews at all last year.

I wouldn't even have so much problem with it if they let the actors be scary. If they let the actors act like they want to eat you. But if this is going to be anything like last year we are just going to have actors just walking around. That's pretty much what I am afraid of for this year's streets. That they won't let them be aggresive.

  10. lol. I mean, if you are a walking dead fan by all means be happy. But having every single horde and scarezone be zombies sounds a little boring to me. It doesn't even have to be zombies. Vampires, beasts, chainsaws. If they made every single zone the same it would just be boring I think.
what's the difference between going from one zone to the other if all you are going to see is zombies in really crappy masks just walking around?

  11. Only some are freaking out, not the majority as you would like to point out.

I take it you haven't been to facebook yet?

Also, another problem is that a lot of people are happy because they love the show. But not because it will be a good street experience. hardcore fans of the show will defend this no matter what, (which is what I am seeing on facebook)

i mean, Honestly, how can an entire park full of zombies be any good? every zone zombies? how does that sound good?

  12. I like the show. I love the human characters. I love Rick, I love Daryl.
but, while i love the show I don't think Walking Dead is a very good IP to based the event on. It's just like the same argument about Cabin in the Woods being a crappy movie.
the movie might be crappy for a lot of people, but the house might be really good because the concept for the movie will work well for HHN. But with Walking Dead is like it is the opposite of that.

  13. Look dont let naysayers ruin your expectations. The event will blow your mind. Trust me. You'll love it and become addicted like everyone else. Not that people here dont have a reason to bitch. I believe a lot do. Is this gonna be like HHN 18 (or insert your fav year here)? Probably not. But it will be huge in scale and awesome houses and you will shit yourself with excitement. The 3 IP's so far are all awesome.

Trust me... even a bad day at HHN is better than a good day at 99% of most events. Dont go in nit-picking everything. Just go and enjoy yourself! Life is good at HHN!

    why are people freaking out?

Because we already had a house and a zone and they both sucked. I mean, yes what I am saying is obvious, but it should be obvious why people are unhappy with this.

The zone was nothing special and at night it got so crowded you couldn't tell the guests from the actors. The zombie costumes were nothing special and the actors couldn't even be scary. They couldn't even act aggresively. (both in the house and the street)

that's why people are mad. Because the first experiece we had with Walking Dead was not a great one. Can this year be better? sure, it can. But making every single street zone Walking Dead related is going to suck even if they do a good job with the sets.

The worst thing about this is that Universal Didn't have the main characters of the show for Walking Dead. What is the point of seeing sets from scenes of the show or using the same props from the show when the Most Important aspect of the show is missing?

This "Street Experience" idea would be good if they had the main characters as well. Imagine seeing Rick or Michonne or Hershel in one of the scarezones? that would be amazing. Imagine seeing Rick in the house or Daryl. that would be cool.

we don't know anything about this year, but from experience I am expecting it to suck. AMC is in charge of Walking Dead and it was because of AMC that the house and the streets sucked so much last year. so even if this year is cool, AMC might mess it up again.

  14. the thing I don't get about this is that, If Walking Dead makes so much money, Why not just replace an old ride with a Walking Dead ride?

Seriously, Why not just replace Twister with a Walking Dead show? replace the Twister ride with walkers. Doesn't even need to be gory or anything. Just have walkers in there and make the place look like it does on the show.

Or replace the Beetlejuice show with something Walking Dead Related. I don't mean a show but do something else. Seems like Walking Dead is such a big money maker, I don't understand why they don't just make it a permanent attraction in the park.

As for the streets. I am interested. I want to see what they do, but I am not happy or excited. I am just curious how bad this is going to turn out. (Or how good, maybe it is the best streets Universal has had in years. maybe)

It depends on what set pieces they use and how the zones would be made.
It sure is going to be something new.... I seriously cannot even imagine how it is going to look like.

  15. I don't have a lot of hope for this house. Specially when they are only using the new movie.

It would have been amazing if they did the old Evil Dead, Of course this could be good, but for now I have a feeling this will be the house that is not as great as the others. I mean, is basically going to feel like a zombie house inside a cabin. (plus a lot of gore...so, yay?)

  16. From @Attractions twitter

The Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute stage show is returning to Halloween Horror Nights this year.

    FINALLY!! :timewarp: :timewarp: :timewarp:

I am so happy I think i could cry lol ^_^ I honestly think I might do the Rocky Horror Picture show every day of HHN that I attend :)

I understand Rocky Horror is not for everybody, that's cool. But At least if this is true we are not getting another freaking magic show.

I seriously don't think I could take another year of lame crappy unoriginal boring magic shows..... I would have loved to see a new show but Rocky Horror coming back is pretty awesome. Universal should really step up their game when it comes to shows though. I am really glad for Rocky Horror but they need to come up with better stuff than dumb magic shows.

I don't know what this means, Does this mean Uni heard the fans that wanted it back and brought it back?

Or does this mean Uni has absolutley no idea at all about what to do for shows and thought bringing back this one was a good idea?

  17. Re: Why Orlando releases mazes before Hollywood.

"That's Orlando, where they can build at any time of the year due to them not being a working movie studio. John Murdey is a bit more secretive because he has big plans for this year, while it seems Orlando is just trying to earn money without doing a good job."

    I know the quote sucks,

but after last year I cannot blame them for thinking that.......

  18. Unfortunately I feel like that could easily be the case.

The idea of it just being various legions roaming the woods would fit with the theming, (and take much less effort).

I really, REALLY hope you're wrong.

I want too see regular scarezones this year. But it would make sense for them to dress the entire park as a dark forest and have all the streets look the same.

They wouldn't have to do specific decorations for scarezones or anything. (it could probably be like Grown Evil took over the entire park)
