  1. I remember seeing a good amount of drunk people last year, specifically in Chance's scarezone   They all wanted to heckle her, probably because they assumed she wouldn't be allowed to heckle back. One of Chance's friends handled the heckles like a champ, usually with a "Enjoy your hangover, honey!". One night, my friend and I also saw a young couple drunk off their minds go into Lunatics Playground and actually had to be escorted out because the house was tripping them out so badly. Honestly, I don't understand how people can afford to get drunk at HHN. That shit gets expensive after drink number 2.

  2. I might be late with this, but I was listening to a Scarezone podcast the other day on my drive and I remember them saying there was a really big hint on the tickets page. I can't see anything on the surface though. Anyone look at the coding on that page yet?

Universal will go back to releasing everything in August at 12 midnight!  Get ready!

That's my birthday!!! Best present ever! Even though that's hella late what the hell Universal.

Their Marketing department sucks, period. Shout at me all you want but they're an absolute atrocious disaster. Far too much control over something they shouldn't even touch.

I absolutely agree. Honestly, with how big HHN has gotten, the event needs it's own marketing team. USO's marketing team doesn't seem to care about HHN very much. They should at least give the twitter back to Aiello.

Has anyone tried to see if there are any clickable features.

And since I don't have an actual computer: Can someone post what the regular site looks like?

I only have access to the mobile version.

No clickable features aside from the normal ones. When I clicked on The Shining link on the side, it asked me if I wanted to take a survey about the website/event so I did. On the "other comments" section I wrote about how this whole "no announcements" game is getting really old and needs to stop. Not that they'll actually listen and do something, but it's better than nothing.

That idea of the scrapped icons(Voodoo Queen, Nathaniel Crowe, & whoever's going to get an Icon zone) might be true

As soon as I read this my brain came up with "They had to wait and so do you". The icons had to wait for their time, therefore we have to wait for announcements.

Biggest reach award goes to me!

Funny, I think it would be an awesome house.

Dude your preferences are confusing AF. Have you been around fraternity brothers lately? It would be like if the Purge kids from the first movie grew fangs and were more rowdy and drunk. No thank you.

Anyways, ForeverEvil1 is probably right, they probably wanted to wait until everything the Pulse memorial has settled down to announce anything.

I highly, highly doubt it happens, but (as someone mentioned either earlier on here or on OU) maybe a vampire fraternity could work? IIRC from seeing The Conjuring, the interior of the house from the movie could double as a convincing frat house.

Omg please no. Regular fraternity brothers are scary enough (no offense to any fraternity brothers on here), we don't need a whole house full them dressed as vampires. When the greaser vampires hit on the girls last year, it was cute and fun. Vampire fraternity brothers, not so much. Plus, I can only imagine their maze being a shit show and smelling like stale beer.

HHN is amazing. "Let's take existing content and revamp it slightly and call it new."

    HHN 27: The Recycled Year

Ok but they'll always be able to get away with this because no matter how many returning guests there are, there will be more guests who have never experienced HHN and may possibly never experience it again. It sucks, but that's one of the main differences between a theme park haunt and a good ol' homemade haunt.

  9. Give me ALL the jack o lanterns in Central Park! Just from the speculation, this year is giving me some good classic Halloween vibes and I'm loving it so much. The new horror is great and all, but classic Halloween just feels so nostalgic and wonderful. I might need to throw some bite sized candy bars in my bag to snack on during the event.

It's really hard listening to criticisms. I work in a similar industry and truly enjoy the following from fans that we have... BUT there is so much to consider-- mostly due to budget, laws, safety and time I assume. I am sure Universal is working hard and it's a miracle that something of this magnitude can occur annually.  If someone thinks they can do it better-- try to... or get a job at Universal Creative and work at improving it form the inside. People really shouldn't be so critical unless they're doing something to contribute. It's really, really just too easy to pass comments like this from the safety of your comfortable desk chair.

I understand this too. I work in special events and so I get a feel for some of the reasoning behind why they do and don't do certain things. I'd say probably 80% of the time they make a decision that gets bad criticism, they aren't doing it because they're stupid they're doing it either because they have to for logistics or because that's what will work best to achieve their goal. The other 20% of the time probably is just poor decision making/not listening to the masses. Everything is placed and done for a reason and it's easy to get huffy about it when you don't understand why.

  11. I'm still really hoping for a year of Cindy/Caretaker but the Day of the Dead doesn't seem to far off. This is a major stretch, but maybe the Caretaker makes a deal with Lady Death to bring back Cindy and with Cindy comes the entire land of the dead.

But then that would mean A&D would have to give us 3 icons and we all know that won't happen considering they have a hard enough time with 1 icon.

  12. It's definitely still possible to experience the house with no one in front of you. You just have to hold back a bit from the conga line. The best is when you can time it so there's no one in front of you OR behind you. I went through Krampus and Chance's house a few times like that and it was so much fun!

  13. Here's my thinking with the repeat houses/zones: I don't think HHN really became as super popular as it is until a few years so for many of the new fans, myself included, it is exciting to see houses such as Saw coming back as they weren't able to experience it the first time around. A lot of you guys on here have been going to HHN for years and years, but for us new babies it will be nice to see some of the houses we missed out on in the past. I would speculate that HHN probably gets more guests that are new to the event than ones that have been making the pilgrimage every year for 5+ years. They need to keep it fresh.

As for AoV, I will be so excited if that comes back. I really enjoyed how they included Shadybrook in their performance and it wasn't just straight dancing like Jabbawockeez. I know there's a lot of unpopular opinion about this, but I think they're party atmosphere was a good highlight.

  14. Ehhhhh I don't know about a Wicca scarezone. Even though it's not as common as others, it's still a religion that is practiced by people and making a scarezone out of it just seems....wrong? Like, yeah Wiccan practice includes a lot of stereotypical "Halloween" things, but it just doesn't seem right. Then again, they did make a voodoo scarezone.

I just wish they would drop the lineup already, scarezones and all. The suspense is killing me!

    Suspected lineup is...

    - AHS (Confirmed) - shit

    - Shining (Confirmed) - either going to be great or "Exorcist" average

    - Saw -boring repeat

    - Evil Dead - boring repeat

    - Insidous - repeat, worthy of improvements from last time

    - Blumhouse Mashup - average IPs

    - Catacombs/Gothic Crossover  -YES CANNOT WAIT

    - Dark Fortunes - going to suck

    - Scarecrow Maze - 3D? if so, suck

I mean this in the nicest way, but if you dislike the event so much, why do you keep going?

Anyways, if they do have a BH mashup house, how do you think they'll do it? I'm thinking it might be like Monsters and Mayhem where each room is something different but even then, I don't see how that could work with the properties that BH has. Also, does anyone know (or think they know) which version of Evil Dead will be used?

Cheers mate. Thinking of going 2/3 nights  when it's quieter to do everything (as I'm there late september to early October), but staying in the park when it closes to get best access to the mazes when it starts (probs Springfield as I hear it's more comfortable).

Is there anything else I should know about? Or just go and wing it and hope to make it out alive? Haha

I've always found that if you do Stay and Scream, to wait in the Springfield area. Every time I've done that I've been able to hit up 4 of the houses within the first hour and then I don't feel as rushed the rest of the night. Once the map comes out, try to make a game plan to best utilize your time. Also, do the houses closest to Bill and Ted WHILE the show is going on. It's a mess if you hit those houses once the show gets out. Lastly, I like to walk through the scarezones as much as I can because you notice something different every time. Have fun, friend! You're in for a great time!

  17. Anyone else cringing at the thought of a Shelley Duvall scare actor all over the house? I don't know, I'm not super pumped about this house. I'm really hoping they don't pull a FvJ with the elevator scene. I'm also calling it now that the scene with the dog in the bedroom will be in there but they're going to do it like how they did Drilldo in the AHS last year; blink and you miss it.

  18. I think, if done properly, Cindy could be a great icon. My only concern is it possibly being too similar to Chance too soon. Having Cindy's "playthings" just seems too familiar of a theme,  after Chance's "minions". Maybe that's just me though since I did actually play with some of her minions in her scarezone last year on slower nights. I would love to hear everyone else's opinions.

I would prefer to see this year given to Eddie or the Caretaker, and then maybe give next year to Cindy. Give the long lost icons their moment in the spotlight before possibly bringing them back for 30.

A house based on a book at HHN? No way. not in this day and age. Kids are playing video games and staring at their phones now. Rarely reading. The Shining would work bc they made a HUGE movie about it. But a house based strictly on a book would be a bad idea.

Can't tell if you're mocking or agreeing. Like I said, if I was incorrect about HHN having book based haunts, please correct me. But as far as the Shining goes, if it's going to be made it's going to be Kubrick's version, as much as that sucks.
