  1. Not necessarily. As of right now, I'm not planning on going. I'll be in FL in October regardless but they aren't selling me on this event anymore. I might just use the night I was planning on going to HHN to go to Player 1 or something with my friends.
  2. I'm starting to think they're just going to drop the lineup one night without saying anything. Like, it will just show up on the website and we MIGHT get a tweet or something saying to check the website for event updates.
  3. I bet it is that. The count down os only the time you have to be an elite soul collector. My bet says we don't get anything today. The silver lining though is that MNSSHP starts this month so we'll most likely get the full lineup before then.
  4. Ok here's my thing with the lack of info: yes we are "spoiled" now with how soon we get info, yes everything was fine back in the day when they would announce everything in one go, but Universal is dealing with a bigger beast now. The event isn't what it used to be in a world that isn't what it used to be. I'm sure the fans on here that have been going since the event was in it's teens can confirm that the crowds have gotten way bigger since it's early days. People are traveling from farther and farther away to go to this event and honestly Universal should have the courtesy to tell people what will be there at least 2 months before the event. The guys on the Scarezone Podcast (hi to Logan and/or Chris if they're on here!) described it perfectly: you wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars to go to a music festival if they didn't tell you who was performing. Announcing the mazes and scarezone gets people hyped up for the event. It gives them time to go and watch or rewatch the featured IPs which, again, gets them hyped up. Personally, I'm not buying tickets until I know the full lineup because, while there is still a high probability I would go regardless, based on the 3 IPs announced, I wouldn't be upset about not going this year. I'm really really hoping this year is just a fluke as far as marketing goes because I can't imagine this will fly in future years.
  5. My original thought was that for each social network you shared the "Your Soul is Requested" thing on, you would unlock a box but clearly that's not the case. It's almost like marketing had an idea but didn't actually follow through with it.
  6. So help me if that countdown is just for the release of the commercial or something. Side note: I had to call Universal yesterday because I had questions about my AP and I mentioned to the lady on the phone how I won't be back down in Orlando until October for HHN and she said "would you like me to transfer you to sales so you can buy your tickets?" And I said "no thank you, I'm not buying tickets until I actually know what all will be at HHN". She just sighed and said "I understand". Gave me the impression I wasn't the first person she's heard say that this year
  7. Question about the Soul Collector link: Has anyone had any of the six locks unlocked? Also, do we know if they are sending us stuff in the mail?
  8. I can't imagine they would go past August 3rd to make announcements. It gets to a point where you HAVE to let people know what they're getting into before the buy tickets. I refuse to buy tickets until I know the entire lineup (even though I'm going regardless, more than one night shhhhhhh). I'm really curious as to whether this massive delay is just poor marketing or if they're having issues with the IPs. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they're having difficulties.
  9. Ok but Evan Peters is attractive soooo. I remember last year during the Unmasking the Horror tour, the tour guide talked about Evan Peters and how he always ends up playing the characters that make you worry about your attraction to him. He is a great actor though. Speaking of AHS, I'm really interested to see which parts of Coven the include in the house this year, especially if Bayou of Blood gets it's own house. Coven is one of my favorite seasons, but I'm really bummed we didn't get a whole house dedicated to a season like Hollywood is getting. When I was watching Roanoke, all I could think about was how good of a house that would make. Anyone else watch horror movies and think about how they could be turned into a house? Just me?
  10. I even read something about how Twisty is returning this season. They made it sound like they were doing their version of the Purge with the election as the main theme. I have to agree with Critical on this one, I was really unimpressed with It Follows. They lost me completely when they started throwing toasters in the swimming pool.
  11. You'll love it so much!! My first HHN, I was absolutely terrified. But I've found from my first visit, and from bringing my friends for the first time that the first house is always the worst. No amount of YouTube videos can prepare you for walking through your first maze and coming face to face with what's in there. Go get yourself a twisted tater and a beer as a reward and keep going. By your second house, you'll be obsessed. Have fun, friend!!
  12. I completely forgot about another one of my favorite moments from last year. On the second to last day, I went into Krampus and it was one of those beautiful moments where no one was behind me and no one was in front of me. I walked into the living room scene and one of the elves jumped out but then started dancing so I danced with him. But shortly after, another elf snuck up right behind me and made the most god awful inhuman noises I have ever heard in my life and chased me out of the room.
  13. Omg I was there when the prison girl yelled at someone for touching her boob! Holy crap I was like a few feet from you I distinctly remember that. It took me by surprise too because that was one of my first HHN and I was just at Not So Scary the day before.
  14. I have 2 favorite moments, both in the same area. The first one was in Scary Tales during 25, I was walking through and looking at my phone when Prince Charming got in my face and got a scream from me. But the best part was after I screamed, he booped me on the nose and went "I'm sorry, love". It was a very confusing moment. The second one was last year in Chance's zone. It was a dead night and as I was walking through, one of her minions asked if I wanted to play. I said "sure" just to see what would happen. The minion yelled "I GOT ONE SHE WANTS TO PLAY" and ALL of the minions ran over. They decided we should play "monarch" and when assigning roles, one of them turned to me and said "You can be Marie Antionette. You remember what happened to her, right?" And before I could respond, another one lunged at me with a knife and got inches away from my throat.
  15. Same, friend. Every year I've gone I've had a scareactor threaten to kill me. My first year there, I went into the Roanoke house towards the end of the night and there wasn't anyone behind me and one of the scareactors followed me through a room and a half whispering in my ear all the ways he was going to kill me. Good times. Here's a conversation topic: what's been your favorite interaction you've had with a scareactor?
  16. What would be everyone's dream HHN lineup? Like, if A&D came to you and said "create the lineup", what would you do? I'm sitting shotgun on a 5 hour road trip this afternoon, entertain me friends
  17. I think the lack of information is a combination of issues with the IPs and the leak that happened earlier this season. Also, I will be at HHN the first weekend in October! Anyone else planning on going then?
  18. Agree agree agree. Horror pushes boundaries, it makes people uncomfortable, it triggers people, that's one of the reasons why it's so popular. It's certainly not for everybody and that's ok. And it's even ok for people to like some aspects of horror but not others. It's literally impossible to have a good horror event and be able to cater to everyone's likes. That pretty much goes for every event, but horror specifically. Like PeoriaBJJ said, once they start trying to be PC, it's done. Once you start doing that, where does it stop? Next will be party clowns saying that Jack needs to go away because it's offensive to their career, actual voodoo priestesses saying Bayou of Blood is offensive. It all comes back to "If you don't like it, don't go". You have every right to be upset about certain tropes, but if you don't like asylum houses, or clowns, or whatever, then don't go into those mazes. Simple as that. Just like how if you didn't like a horror movie based off of asylums, you wouldn't see it. Debate is great! It's interesting to read everyone's opinions while we wait for some news! This is a very interesting discussion too.
  19. Yeah that was it. The first walk through I did of LP, I remember thinking that scene probably wouldn't last beyond the first day. I think I went into that house every visit to HHN and I remember seeing it every time.
  20. Half agree. Fortune Teller Cindy sounds dumb but I still really want a year with Cindy. She's one of my favorite icons and she hasn't even had her own year yet. I wouldn't want her this year though because I feel like her theme would be too similar to Chance's. Fingers crossed for next year or 29.
  21. I know exactly which part you're talking about and I was surprised that was there. I don't think they got rid of it though because I remember going in that house towards the end of the run and it was still there. Like, I get it, if gore triggers you obviously don't go to a horror based event, but the self-harm part just seemed a bit unnecessary. I have a few unpopular opinions about the asylum tropes but I'll save that for another day.
  22. That reminds me of the first day I went last year I brought my friend and it was her first HHN ever and we were walking through the wandering hoard zone near between Transformers and the lagoon and as soon as she heard the chainsaw, she screamed and ran so all the scareactors chased after her while I just stood there and laughed. They ended up cornering her near a trashcan until I pulled her out and then taught her the important lesson of "don't run through the scarezone, and don't look scared".
  23. Lol it is. I know HHN is so much fun because it's horror, buts bugs and spiders take it from "fun horror" to "hell no I'm not going near that with a 20 foot pole". I would actually LOVE an IT House, but when I said I'm over the clowns, I meant like the fluorescent clowns we see so often at HHN.
  24. Any M. Night Shymawhatever movie, It Follows, anything with bugs/insects or anything Walking Dead related. I'm also super over the whole clown thing. And I think last year Hollywood had a scarezone that was basically oversized vermin and insects. It looked so stupid.
  25. Just have a whole Blumhouse marathon. I know Insidious is on there as well as a few others.
