The buy one night get a second night free is back and now for sale on the HHN website.

Also, interestingly, Wednesday October 16th, is not a scheduled event night for HHN29.

That stinks. I always go that week because I'm off of work that Monday, and don't have to burn a vacation day.

That October Wednesday (or Thursday) has been used by Microsoft corporate as their Ignite conference ended to provide a perk to their attendees.  But Microsoft moved the conference to November this year.  So, I wonder if they are holding the date back as a trade off for the 29th or to leave it open to another corporation to purchase?

That particular week has been open from Wed-Sun for at least the past 5 years. I would always fly down on Columbus Day, and go to HHN Wed-Fri. I thought the Microsoft conference was in Sept...either way, sucks for me.

  2. +1 for no Killer Klownz house. The scarezone was great, but I also believe that was because of the scareactors ability to improvise. Other than that, I'm just hoping for scarier houses, with less IP's (aren't we all). Naturally we'll get ST2, something Blumhouse (Halloween, HDD2U, god forbid another Purge), and probably Chucky. What else is coming out? 3 From Hell, Escape Room (that premise has the potential to make a good house, whether it's an IP or original), Zombieland 2...

I, for one, am really excited for Slaughter Sinema.

So, yeah, I hope Slaughter Sinema lives up to the hype!

I completely agree, and can't wait for this! I grew up watching those same movies, plus there's a local drive-in near me that shows only retro movies, and even has VHS Fest, and Schlock-O-Rama weekend, so I feel a somewhat personal connection with this house.

So for you HHN vets the original houses gets you more excited?  will be attending my first HHN in October and im most excited for the IP houses, but i have nothing to base it on outside of familiarity.

Welcome! My first HHN was in 2015, and I was excited for Freddy Vs Jason, and American Werewolf in London. I was completely caught off guard by how great the originals were. It did help that 25 Years of Monsters & Mayhem helped give me a crash course, and Body Collectors was breathtaking. Enjoy it, man!

  5. From Universal:
There is one aspect of Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights no one can escape… the SCARE ZONES. They're the first and last things you'll experience, and it's our chance to make sure there is no way to hide from the scares.

This Halloween Horror Nights, we're inviting you to join the celebration of blood and bone at what can only be called The Festival of the Deadliest – an ancient tradition from the depths of where nightmares are born.

A gathering of the most unearthly, hellish terrors has emerged from the darkest corners of despair. It calls to those who long for the thrill of the scare and wish to have their fears made real. You'll be drawn like moths to a flame, and once you join this hallowed celebration, your nightmares will never end.

You'll find the heart of the Festival on the streets of Hollywood in Universal Studios Florida, but its claws have spread throughout Horror Nights. Here's what awaits you every night…

    Trick 'r Treat
First up, it's time to make sure everyone understands the rules of our haunted holiday. Get a proper Halloween education in our Central Park scare zone inspired by the film Trick 'r Treat. We're excited to have Sam visit and make sure we follow the rules of Halloween.

As a longtime fan of classic horror anthology films, Trick 'r Treat is a favorite of mine that pays perfect homage to that genre. In this zone, you'll have the opportunity to come face-to-face with several characters from the film, and learn for yourself what happens when you don't follow the rules.

    The Purge
Next up, we have a returning story to our New York streets with The Purge. This time, our approach was to create a zone that showed how we think the events of a Purge night might play out in our streets.

There are some fan favorites returning such as our auction and a very polite gentleman. We also have some new surprises in store. For example, how do you clean up all the mayhem on the streets during a Purge night? Visit the clean-crew up crew with their trusty wood chipper to find out. Just don't get too close…

    Altars of Horror
Near the front gate, on Avenue of the Stars, we have our Altars of Horror. For me, this zone is very exciting because we're bringing something to the streets for our horror fans that we have never done before.

In this zone, we're taking some of the larger than life characters featured in this year's houses, and letting them have their own scare zone. A lot of work goes into bringing these iconic film characters to life in our houses. Now you'll have the opportunity to get an even better look at them.

    Invasion!
Set in a time decades ago, our docks in San Francisco find themselves the victim of an INVASION! Visitors from far beyond have crashed their vessel, and are now wreaking havoc on the streets of San Francisco.

They aren't just here to destroy; these invaders are also on a mission to learn everything they can about us humans. Careful, or you may find yourself on the experiment table at the mercy of an alien scientist.

    Roaming Hordes
Lastly, no Halloween Horror Nights would be complete without roaming hordes. This time, it's the smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the chainsaw. Unhappy with how popular culture has made clowns scary, this grotesque gang of gigglers has risen from the grave, determined to show the world that if you want scary clowns, they're going to make sure you get your worst nightmare.

    ACADEMY OF VILLAINS: AFTERLIFE
But wait! There's more. The question is, "can you handle more?" I'm happy to share ACADEMY OF VILLAINS: AFTERLIFE will be returning to put on an all-new killer performance. This group of powerhouse artists will make you bear witness to what happens after we leave this life. They're going to give you one mind-blowing and shocking dance performance that will escort you from this world to the great beyond.

As you can see, the streets will be alive with plenty of horror, mayhem, and celebration. The opportunity to bring favorite horror films to life and tell our own unique horror stories makes every day a thrill. My favorite part of the event is walking the streets each night as our scare actors make these terror-filled tales a reality. Every scream I hear puts a huge smile on my face.

There's a mysterious countdown on the website that doesn't say what it's counting down to.

I have a feeling it's gonna be like that scene in A Christmas Story. "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine. Ovaltine? A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch!"

That wasn't so much the show itself as it was speculation. From what I understand the showrunners made it pretty clear that only the first episode takes place on election night, and that's it.

(And I'm not sure how Twisty would return unless it's a legacy character emulating him or Edward Mordrake also returns, but that's just me being picky.)

Unless they have flashbacks to the cult in earlier times, and he was a member many years back.

  8. I went to my first HHN experience (25) with an ex who I swear had unshakeable nerves of steel.  We had gone to quite a few haunted houses & attractions prior, and I had never, ever seen her jump once.  We get there right at the opening with our express passes, and go right to the anniversary house.  As soon as we walked in, she started admiring the underwater scenery, (specifically the hanging seaweed), when a scareactor took one step towards her through the seaweed, she yelped and jumped backwards into me.  That was the first of only 2 times in the few years we dated that I ever saw her get scared.

That same year, next house actually, we were in the first FvJ room, with the two little girls with no eyes jumping rope, and they came over to me, looked right up and me, and said "I think he wants to play", or something to that effect.  Creeped me out, ha.

I have a feeling I will, 4 years away from release and I consider it my 3rd favorite horror movie of all time and my 9th favorite movie ever. I strongly prefer it over the original, like as in I don't really like the original (I've yet to see the second or third).

I really like the reboot.  Like others have stated, it went after the genuine horror feel, and achieved it, IMO.  With that being said, you're doing yourself a disservice by not seeing at least Evil Dead 2.  It is Evil Dead with a bigger budget, better effects and slapstick, making it a great horror-comedy.  If that's not your thing, then I get it.

  10. I was spoiled.  My ex went for the first time in 2013, and didn't have passes...she also didn't know HHN was a thing.  When we went in 2015 (my first year) she insisted we had to get them, and I'm glad we did.  I got them last year, and again this year.  Coming down from NJ, I only get to the park for 3 days (Tues-Thurs) in the middle of Oct.  On the Wed night, I like to do 4-5 houses, take a halftime at Moe's, finish the houses, then have a drink while wandering around Diagon Alley (hoping .  The Thurs night I like to take my time with the scarezones, and generally take in the atmosphere without being rushed.  This is my first year getting the behind the scenes tour, so while I get why people are upset about the picture policy, I'm excited about it.

74 is too early for disco. Disco vampires would be more like Vamp 78 with John Travolta Saturday Night Fever vampires and Village People Vampires at Studio 54!!!!

Vamp 74 could have been funky blaxploitation vampire pimps vs. kung fu werewolves!!!!

Throw a dash of vamp Ziggy Stardust for good measure

Question on The Conjuring fiasco.  Let's suppose we know for sure that this was actually supposed to happen.. didn't the whole lawsuit thing come out months ago?  Would they have even built the physical maze for The Conjuring ?  I doubt it.  They may have had to redirect the plans, but I bet they aren't having to use a Conjuring literal house as something else.  Just a thought.

While I absolutely agree that there's no way the house would've been built, it is possible that they had allocated a budget, sourced IP specific building materials, perhaps even signed a contract with said sources, and now are stuck with a certain look that they have to build a theme around.

Appreciate you sharing your perspective. Have you been to BGT and done Death Water Bayou, curiously? Did you enjoy it the first time, or on repeat visits?

I loved it the first time only for the intro - then the rest was bleh to me.

I haven't, but I'm not opposed to going when I'm down there.  I agree that sometimes houses put better scenes in front of lesser ones, and that does indeed make the overall house a letdown.

    That's what I was thinking!

Could also be something referring to the Evil Dead. There were 3 Bruce Campbell movies. I know it's been rumored that they are using 1&2, but what about Army of Darkness?

True, I didn't think of that, only because the "source" on here specifically said ED 1 & 2.  Maybe "Somethings have been shifting, others have grown" refers to the inclusion of AoD.  If we look at it from the Insidious POV, since the release date for 4 has moved, part 3 plays a bigger role as a set-up for 4? Or shifting the room order to 3-1-2, since 3 was a prequel to the first two?

Newest Post (I have no idea how to imbed)

    "1, 2, and 3, the riddles I have spun

The original works found in this run"

"3, 2, or 1? The works still not quite known

Somethings have been shifting, others have grown"

If referring to IP's, Insidious related, since there were only 3 movies, as opposed to the 28 in the SAW series.

Ahhhhh gotcha. That makes more sense. So does that mean SAW, Insidious and Dark Fortunes aren't set in stone? It seems we have confirmed Gothic/Catacombs Original, Scarecrow Original, Voodoo Queen Original, AHS, the Shining and Evil Dead.

Also, I'm curious about the identity of the Ifrit. Is he someone actually leaking insider information, or is he a paid Universal employee who's job it is to drop hints for fanboys/girls? Either way, I'm loving the riddles. Just curious.

Just touching on the IP's, I think we've confirmed that Ash vs Evil Dead will really be a ED 1 & 2 house, AHS is season 2, 3, & 6, and The Shining is Stanly Kubrick's vision, not King's.  While SAW & Insidious may be the other IP's, it doesn't appear we have any details other than there are new movies coming out.

An hour up the road BGT did their house and a lot have already seen their version and it's "dulled" the theme for many in the area (in other words it is not going to be a draw).

I'm willing to bet a lot of the people that travel to Orlando from out of state/country for HHN haven't gone an hour north, or seen a voodoo queen/house, so even if this has dulled if for the locals, there are plenty of non-locals that will enjoy the theme (myself included, provided they do a good job).  Coming from right outside of Tarrytown, NY, I've seen all the Headless Horseman has to offer, but still understand the draw from non-locals, and head up there a few times a year for the atmosphere.

hmmmm....so either Evil Dead isn't happening or maybe they are going to do the actual Ash vs Evil Dead house rather than the movies?

Personally, I think this is confirming Evil Dead, but stating all other speculation is missing the mark.

I kind of hate the series. The narrative ends up being too long and loses it's way about 6 episodes in.

That being said, I thought that the house was fantastic. As stated above it focused on staying true to the visuals, and that's really the show's strongest element. Great production design.

I was also impressed how they implemented look-a-likes and actual dialogue from the show.

I couldn't agree more.  The first 6/half of the season may show glimmers of hope, and then it just goes off the rails.  It seems like they try to cram as much crap as they can into a season.
