From the stranger things press release:

"With ten haunted houses, five scare zones, and live entertainment still to be revealed"

Do you think this means 11 houses this year, or is it just bad phrasing?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it was oddly worded. Pretty sure it should have been something like "With ten haunted houses, plus five scarzones and live entertainment still to be revealed..."

Just curious but what causes announcements to be delayed?

Many things can cause a delay. In this case, I've heard that they had to reorganize a lot of the announce schedule they had planned.

Basically, there's a lot going down in Florida this year; the new Potter Coaster, and Star Wars, EPCOT refurb, plus much more to come. No surprise, UOR and Disney try not to announce things at the same time, and they don't exactly coordinate with each other.

After watching Halloween III again, it does make me wonder, hearing how Tommy Lee Wallace has said in interviews "If the movie was called Season Of The Witch instead of Halloween III, the movie would have been given a different reception." I think the movie would work very well as a house even with some original stuff added to make it a bit better than the film. I mean the film has a cult following and if Universal would bring it, it'd be better to bill the house as Season Of The Witch than just having it being Halloween III Season Of The Witch, you know but that's just what I think, what do you guys think? Would it work as a house under Season Of The Witch or had it stood it's test of time in ever being made into a house?

I know Aiello would like to do it as a house, and there's a strong fanbase that would love to see it. It's hard to use it in marketing at the event though, just because the lack of Meyers.

There does seem to be a good bit of merchandising coming out this year though. Particularly, a 3-pack of action figures by NECA

  4. Guys....I don't understand what you're talking about with the F&F hate. My wife and I rode it last year for the first time, and had a blast cracking up with the two dudes seated beside us.

We weren't sure how to take it at first until I asked out loud, "Why is Vin Diesel the same size as that helicopter?" From there on out, we couldn't stop laughing.

Episode 6 was truly amazing.  Even if you are not a fan of the show, it's wonderful to watch as it was presented as one continuous shot.  In reality it was not (the longest shot was 17 min), but it's simply captivating.

Not the mention the amount of movement, not just of the camera, but of the actors as well. (Without getting spoilery) In and out of sets, different actors replacing the same characters, special effects timed just right. Simply amazing. They'll be teaching classes around it.

Watched the first five episodes of Haunting of Hill House this weekend. Takes  a lot to freak me out with a movie or show, but this show does the trick. In terms of a maze based on the show, I'm not sure how it will translate. I'm sure the sets will be top notch, but you don't really see too much in terms of physical ghosts or monsters to fill an entire house. Maybe I just need to see the rest of the series first, but so far you have Abigail, the zombie in the basement, the bent neck lady and the floating dude with the cane. Is that enough to create an entire maze off of?

Episode 6 is the best horror thing I saw last year. It's just brilliant, and you still have the biggest scare of the season coming a bit further down the road.

Too many possibilities for each name at this point in time.

    Take Pit as an example:

    Which definition are they using?

Pit can be a hole in the ground. If it’s a hole in the ground, is it a pitfall trap? That gives two potential interpretations for one definition.

Pit can be a seed. A peach pit. That’s interpretation number 3.

Pit can be a pockmark caused by disease. That’s interpretation number 4.

4 potential interpretations just from the noun definitions. There’s verb definitions as well.

Looking at last year’s codenames, some are straightforward and others are more vague. We will have to wait for more info to really dissect the names.

Sidenote: No one’s offered one of the most obvious potentials for Dog.

"Cry 'Havoc!,' and let slip the dogs of war."

    EDIT: One more sidenote!

Cotton could link to Cotton Mather.

    Also Pit

Just a quick one as currently looking into flying out early October, and wondered how HHN crowds typically are over the Columbus Day weekend? Is it insanely busy, or manageable with express?

It's probably manageable with express, but I would try and avoid that weekend (and following Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday) if at all possible.

im sure it’s been discussed here. They move the Monsters Cafe if this ever happens!

I feel that HHNU's track record has been tarnished by their popularity. They may be getting more info from more sources, but they had a lot more misses than hits last year. Take everything on their site with a big 'ol shaker of salt.

(Note: Apart from that, I think Chris seems like a great guy. This isn't meant as a personal attack.)

Black mirror is a very hard type of horror to convey as a haunt. Yeah a couple episodes could have scares like metal head and white bear, but black mirror has more in common with night crawler than the shinning. I think the best way to do it would be to bring back a sort of interactive repository type thing, and have black mirror’s staff make an original storyline

    An interactive Black Mirror eh....?

Anna And The Apocalypse makes so much sense to me. Another Horror-Holidays house is definitely due by now, and this film could kill two birds with one stone by being a comedy house and a music-themed house. There's a lot of scenes that screamed Horror Nights in this film.

Yup. Plus, zombies are fairly cheap to do too.

For scenes, I'm thinking...(mild movie spoilers)

    .

    .

    .

    .

    Anna's house & street to the graveyard/playground

    The graveyard/playground

    The bowling alley

That Christmas tree lot (probably the scene that screamed HHN the most)

    School hallway

The final battle in the auditorium

Back of the school with a musical finale.

  12. I remember going into AE for the first time with a group of band-mates during Magic Music Days. Our minds were straight up blown, and we ended up getting right back in line four or five times.

It still had that cute little "Disney-ness" to it, but then turned it on it's ear once everything starts going wrong.

I've always said, Disney is best when it has a little darkness mixed in with the saccharine sweetness.

One house shows up that's not "horror" in the traditional sense (even though it's a PG-13 equivalent series), and people are acting like Scooby Doo and Gravity Falls are the feature IPs

I just do not understand people that don't consider Stranger Things to be a horror series. Everyone seems to want Stephen King properties come to HHN, while Stranger Things is extremely influenced by, and very similar to King and his works.

Is it just because it doesn't have a slasher running around and cutting people up?

...Also...now I really want to see Disney do a Gravity Falls house at MNSSHP next year.
