  1. I long for the days of awesome icons, i long for the days that the website would open up piece by piece to slowly reveal something more menacing! I love the event don't get me wrong but they need to go back to basics. Take a look at all the original Icons (Jack, Caretaker, Director, Story Teller, Usher) and see what made them what they were! EFFORT! Effort is the word, they put so much time to build these characters and design them from background story to the clothing they wore. They need to show us that they still have this creativity back in them. The websites and getting more and more bland as are the commercials and it hurts. I'm not gonna sit here and claim to have been to HHN every year, my first year was 19 i then attended 20 and 21 the last 3 years of icons. 19 was my favorite year of all! the commercial, the website updates ooh how they fascinated me. This will be my first year back since 21 and idk what to expect but i just hope we can expect a back to basics planning for next year of the event.

  2. If it was a Dr Who house, The dr who theme would merely be a conduit for other monsters So it would be a house based on the weeping angels, or the cybermen, or the silence or something like that, with little knowledge of the plot required to appreciate the scares.

A Ghostbusters house could work really well, providing its the comedy house of the season. AWIL puppets of the gozer Dogs , forced perspective stay pufts and peppers ghost Schleri brothers and Slimers.

Christopher Malcolm who played brad in the Rocky Horror Picture show died on the 18th February, A rocky Horror house is definitely possible.

I look forward to doing the time warp while walking through it

  3. Yes the barn was spotted almost straight away and photos of it are on the construction photos thread. That along with the RV outside and a couple of leaked room names gave us the clues to conclude its going to be a Walking Dead house.

ah i figured as much lol but yea i can see how they would be a perfect spot for a walking dead house

  4. You can still have a very successful year of HHN even without an Icon, take 2004 and throughout the '90s for example. In my mind, an Icon helps the theming for the event and it adds more. With that said, if we didn't have an icon I wouldn't be disappointed because the event would still be great nevertheless.

But could we say that that the years with icons have brought more people to the event? im not sayin a icon less year wouldn't be interesting but after so many consecutive years of icons i suppose itd be hard to break away from having a central person that embodies the ideal of the year

  5. The return of "Leave it to Cleaver would be awsome!!!!!. In the sequel we find out that the family has been caught and run of out town and are hiding in the wilderness and attacking campers and other unfourtunate souls that dare explore. I agree this theme has a texas chainsaw massacre feel to it but the success of the Meetz family cant go on forever eventually they would have to be found out.

  6. Let me make one thing clear - I hold a lot of respect for A&D and the work they do. I'm a huge fan of much of what they do! But I'm also a naturally critical person and will, as I have in the past, offer what I believe to be fair comparisons of the stuff they put out. I am not trying to condemn Lady Luck - if you read my posts you'll see I've been rooting for her to be a fleshed out, terrifying icon from the beginning, so don't slap me with the "you'll hate anything" label. It is my hope that this partial cut can be significantly improved once it's officially released by Universal - but for now - it doesn't look good.

Several reasons why this particular commercial (partial cut or otherwise) is awful:

-The Narrator. No Narrator until the kill/scare is the way to do it. Look at 2007 or 2008 or 2009 - no narrator until the victim has been killed, works fine. Hell, even earlier commercials like 2002 and 2003 have NO NARRATION AT ALL. The narrator kills any sense of suspense or dread - same issue last year (2010). Let the story tell itself, no narration is needed.

-The Loudest Victim Ever. Seriously, does this guy shut up? His grunting is so unbearably annoying - it's not terrifying, it's just unneeded noise.

-Lady Luck's voice. Goodness, I imagined something more sinister. She's downright campy, especially at the end, holy crap. She should've taken a lesson from The Director or The Caretaker - or at least go off of Jack and only say a single phrase. "Come try your luck" was godawful and nearly made me facepalm. I'm not even going to address what the hell that bird is supposed to be doing.

-What is even happening to the victim? He's strapped to the wheel of misfortune as expected. As Lady Luck explains shrilly, red you win, black you lose - what happens when you lose? It isn't shown. FEAR repeat - we have no idea what happens. He just keeps grunting. No payoff to the setup.

-This simply is not scary. Nothing about it is creepy or terrifying, it's just campy and the sound annoying. Here's hoping the full cut is better, but I think it's unsalvageable at this point...

If this is any indication, Lady Luck may be FEAR 2.0 in terms of final execution. This "second side" of her seems to be hyped up a lot by the insiders here, but I've yet to see any payoff. I really don't see how anything else could be incorporated into the final commercial.

what ever happened to the original way they use to make the commercials last good commercial was 09....last years sucked and looks like this is following with the same patten of all flash and no sizzle

  7. so what happens if you win all these games, do you unlock another hint? anything?

you begin to collect half of poker chips that begin to build a house of cards that in the end we think will reveal the icon or do something bigger like reveal a house even though the games give hints
