  1. Just a reminder that no matter what kind of get togethers we plan, EVERYONE is welcome!!! Whether you drink an adult beverage or prefer to remain alcohol free...it doesn't matter, we're all getting together to meet up, share our love for HHN and this wonderful site! Looking forward to eventually saying "hi" to everyone in this year in some way, shape or form!
  2. Wouldn't there be some kind of blanket copyright for the entertainment field then? A copyright that encompases everything such as namesake, likeness, use in live performances, use in television, print ads, merchandise etc? I don't know a thing about copyright law, but I would figure that since the entertainment field is so all consuming in regards to the types of media there are, there would be some kind of law to cover it all. Eh, who knows! LOL In any case, like I said before, it doesn't hurt my feelings if Bloody Mary doesn't return to HHN in any form. Out of all the icons thus far, she has been my least favorite.
  3. Jimmy, I'm down with that! (I'll start searching for wigs online now...LOL) Or we could get those rasta wigs and be Jamacian zombies, that would give us an excuse to drink rum drinks the whole night long...wait, use both the black and rasta wigs, Bloody Mary's AND rum drinks! We could be the first drunk icons of the event...yah mon!
  4. I agree 100% about a Halloween house, if they aren't following the original, then just don't do it at all. You don't mess with a Carpenter classic...especially THAT movie! And I would love to see Nnight or Dawn of the Living Dead made into either a house or a scarezone, both classic horror flicks that if done right, could prove to be amazing!
  5. That's what I was thinking, perhaps a photo and artifact retrospect of the past 20 years...with scareactors portraying the major icons.
  6. That's honestly the only Bloody Mary I would like to see this year... Great backstory, but I wasn't overly impressed with the character or the house for that matter. (Now if Jimmy will put on a black wig and drink a Bloody Mary with me, then that would make up for my disappointment...LOL) If we're talking about copyrighting forklore, like Michele said you can't copyright a public domain character. That would be like someone trying to copyright the concept of bigfoot, the loch ness monster or the jersey devil. Universal has their own "Universalfied" version of Bloody Mary which they have copyrights for, so in turn, they would be able to utilize it.
  7. I could see something like that working, perhaps on Hollywood Blvd? Like traveller stated, have it as a small performance a few times a night and leave the floats stationary with the actors the remainder of the night on the street and make that a scarezone as well. Yeap, that 2007 attempt at using the floats as a scarezone of sorts...not exactly succesful. I like the idea of perhaps making the parade concept into a SZ complete with a backstory could prove to be very interesting!
  8. I'm with you, the opening scaremonies are always unique in their own right...all that changes about RHPS are the actors. We're not big on the show aspect of HHN either, for us it's all about the houses, scarezones and overall ambiance. For me personally B&T hit it's peak a few years back and has struggled the past few years. Last year's show had it's moments, but nothing has really been a standout for me personally since around 2006. And while I understand that B&T has become somewhat of a tradition, I'd rather see the time, effort and money from that show put into adding an additional house or scarezone. Unless they can achieve the greatest again that the B&T shows were known for, I think it's time to move on.
  9. Jimmy, That just means that we are old but very fortunate old people to have been enjoying the event since it's inception! (Sometimes age has it's advantages...LOL) REALLY looking forward to seeing you this year Jimmy!!!
  10. As long as there is some sort of dancing involved, I think everyone would agree with you there!
  11. If the Parade of the Dead would ever return, I would think they would create simpler scarezones that don't require any props and the like so that the floats and crowds could easily get through. The old parade route is now home to many scarezones that use tons of props, so I'm not sure how that work. Unfortunately with event attendance growing annually, I don't know if we'll ever see the parade again...sadly enough. Then again, who knows, we've been surprised in the past!
  12. I don't know if I'd want to contend with the crowds on Friday nights, let alone the large amount of drunks that would accompany them. It would nice if they offered some varied FFP options, one that includes the normal nights (Wed/Thurs/Sun) and one that included the regular nights along with Friday nights for a few bucks more. From all the surveys I've seen thus far this year, they are definitely weighing more ticketing options in terms of FFP and express passes. Should be interesting to see what the final options are and what costs are associated with them.
  13. Hmmm...very interesting rumor! I'm with you, I'll be optimistic that perhaps we will be seeing the old school Midway of the Bizarre make a fog filled return to the streets of Amity! B&T on the T2 stage? Wonder how much that will help or hurt the show if it ends up being true...
  14. Yeap, us hard core fans are a very small percentage of the overall number of visitors that make up the event statistics every year. The general public wants to be able to put a face on the event itself, hence why I think Jack has been used so often.
  15. These are simply fantastic Mark! I love how they are simple, but pack a punch at the same time...AMAZING job!!!
  16. I don't think I'll ever completely forget the foul stench that made that house so "special"...LOL GREAT video!
  17. I would rather see another "Usher" style format like we did last year, not so much an icon that "hosts" the event, but more the conceptual face of it. Jack is great, but to me he's been WAY overdone. I'm one of those people who got used to having a different face for the event every year, not even a namesake, but an idea. (i.e. '96 Journey into Fear, the eyes and claws character...'98 Primal Scream, the sheet face screaming...) concepts ideas like those, to me personally, lend just as much to the event than an official "spokesperson" so to speak. I'd be happy this year with a big pumpkin with a 20 carved into it as the "icon"...LOL
  18. It would be simply amazing to see some houses and scare zones show up from the years prior to 2000...I'd love to see (and I've said this many times before) the original Midway of the Bizarre show up in Amity once again...overdose of fog and all. House wise it would be great to see the S.S. Frightanic and the original SS version of People Under the Stairs once again. There are just so many old school concepts that could truly make this 20th year a very special look back at what has made this event such a popular one. I love the idea of seeing a history of HHN...that would be fantastic! I've been hoping for this for many years now...and I must say, this would be the perfect year to give him the chance to let his freak flag fly in his very own house.
  19. Closer to opening night we'll figure out a schedule of sorts...someplace we can all meet a certain time inside the park and have a drink or two together as a group!
  20. I'm thinking it's anniversary, but then again maybe it's like high/school college and it's a reunion?! LOL In any case, I agree with Mark, it would be nice to see Uni save their cash and spend it on their own creations and more scareactors for this 20th year. And personally, I would rather see mascots/icons from many years past than more recent years. If we're going to celebrate 20 years of an event, why not go back in time a bit further so that those folks who didn't attend the eariler years maybe get a taste of the old school HHN days.
  21. Woo hoo...you'll be wearing bells AND whistles! I'm doing the same this year, trying to avoid finding out anything until the official website goes live. And even then, I'll probably just check out the house/SZ line up and that'll be it, I'd really like to go into the event being completely surprised by everything.
  22. Sadly enough Michele I do believe you are right. There are so many elements today that would make a parade virtually impossible and incredibly unsafe. It's sad because it really would be amazing to bring back some of those old school traditions, but like you said, with the mass amount of druken idiots the event attracts today, it would be too risky for Uni.
  23. ONLY 174 DAYS TILL OPENING NIGHT!!!
  24. By all means we will welcome all HNN members of every age to meet up with us! Whether you partake in alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, we don't care...it's just a chance for us all to get together, celebrate the HNN website and the beginning of a great HHN 20!
